It's almost like requiring an online connection for single player games is a really stupid idea.

Where has 2018 gone in general?

I'm only upgrading to Windows 10 when I build a new PC. I don't feel like there's any real benefit to upgrading my current PC, plus the shock of the transition might kill the old girl. The only real reason I'd even use 10 is DirectX 12 (which doesn't even matter with my current PC and probably won't matter for a while anyway) and the fact that it's still getting updates. Overall I feel like I'm downgrading but what can you do?
 
I remember I was really early getting 7 since I got a new laptop (Inspiron 1545... could barely run TF2 but it did and that's why I'm here today so it gets a salute from me  ;_;7) and it was really neat since I had only used Macs and school computers I couldn't do anything with before. Good times, 7 was what all products should strive to be. Probably the best thing about it, to me, was it felt modern, but it wasn't trying too hard to be modern like a lot of software today.

Of course it's always annoying when people get mad for others not following their preferences, but one of the main things that bugs me is people having their OS patriotism. I don't really have a lot of interest in using Windows 10 - I've had to help two separate people get through Windows 10 making their PCs unusable and they would have had to get it fixed by a repairman if I was unavailable. There's also so many annoyances with updates with peripherals and whatnot.
 
At the same time, damn does Windows 10 have a lot of cool stuff but I've seen too many horror cases to want to update to it from Windows 7. At the same time, it's a little worrisome to be unprotected from viruses and whatnot. It also doesn't help that I really think Windows 8/10 are ugly. I wonder when windows 7 will reach what windows xp currently is. 

I find it funny in general that following a trope straight is more subversive than actually subverting them now.

Worst form of bullshit difficulty is the HP sponge boss.

As I've gotten older I've realized how little I like hard-for-the-sake-of-hard games. I mean, I never really liked stuff like Super Meat Boy, but in general I would push myself into playing the hardest modes because I figured people would think I wasn't trying hard enough. But there came a point where I just said "wait, I'm playing this game to have dumb escapist fun. Why am I frustrating myself over and over just to say I did it?" and I let myself play average-level difficulty. I understand the fun derived from challenge, don't get me wrong, but there are times where I just want to be a god amongst men. Also, in games like Civilization, the computer always cheats and that's not actual challenge.
 
I still play smash handicapped with all 9s bots though.

The dream may be dead but at least there's Artifact: The Dota 2 Card Game.
