Huff reacted to Moby in Where I post some stuff I drew/draw/will draw
Was looking around for a spare book for college, when I found my old book from my classes from 5 years ago.
It was mostly unused, but in one of the pages there was this doodle, so I tried to recreate it.
Was playing around with new brushes, created new character.
You yee'd your last haw, monsieur.

Currently super sick so I played some Mario Golf. It's a pretty pretty game so I thought it might be nice for a study:

I really wanted to nail down ABI's design, so I decided to set out on making a full turnaround sheet for her. Super happy to have finally finished these sketches!
Definitely gonna take a break before continuing though, it wore me out a bit. Her feet were a particular pain point. I knew exactly what shapes I wanted them to consist of, but I was having trouble convincing myself how those would actually look from different angles. So I drew a 2D orthographic view...
...so that I could 3D model it and rotate it and reference it back for 2D lol
This was the first thing I've ever 3D modeled that wasn't homework, so it was a bit of a pain in the ass but a good learning experience. And now I have a reference I can use forever! I modeled it using Solidworks, but I wanna try and learn Blender sometime too.

I swear to god people need to start tapping into fucking ANTS already. There are so many fucking different species of ants and they're all wildly diverse and unique. There is so much you could do.
Deterministic ant roguelike with upgrades and trees based on the abilities of real ant species. Ant strategy game or RTS with various unique factions of ants and caste unit classes. Ant RPG with a myriad of different ant species. Utilize their different strengths to build your party. Simultaneous mass-co-op ant puzzle platformer. Cooperate as ants to reach your goal using your combined might. They write themselves.

Huff reacted to Silent in GOTY 2023
Meanwhile I'm still remembering stuff I played last year, not going to add it to the list because it's arguably even less of a "game" than those fangames I played, but Cursed Halo was another extremely fun co-op experience for me and my most halo-brained friend. It's a mod for Halo 1 MCC that adds a bunch of ridiculous weaponry and vehicles to the game, some custom cutscenes, and even an added Mario Kart level that worked surprisingly well. Said friend and I had been following the creator's work modding the game for years and suddenly we were just able to download an entire playable campaign via the steam workshop. I think what really made this work for me is that Halo was the first game where I would just have a blast fucking around with the physics engine, spending hours on Silent Cartographer carting marines around to build up massive grenade piles for warthog jumping. Combining this with things like the gmod tools is a pure stroke of genius an gave me a huge hit of nostalgia. Also there are "d20 grenades" with random effects from summoning a squad of enemies to killing everything on the map, and if you know me, that is the sort of thing I immediately seek out and play around with in any game.
In the same vein as Huff's best moments here is a clip of us using our raw intellect to solve a problem wherein we had no suitable weaponry to kill a pair of hunters conventionally:

I think I've mentioned once that I accidentally complimented a novice/indie music maker back in my CS:GO days when I complimented the person's music on their Tumblr page (they were like "i made that ty so much").
But another similar story is that when they first added the emotes to steam, I saw and joined the "emote art" steam group where people were making art with emotes on their profiles. I saw this thread (https://steamcommunity.com/groups/emoticonart/discussions/0/666827974867330650/) and I had to get those guncraft emotes for myself.
I've had this Mario on my page since the week it was posted, 2013
I know a lotta people here were victim to my "hey can I send u a Link" and then I'd post an Emote-Link (from legend of zelda) afterward.
Anyways, come 2019 I find a thread of some person making a bunch of fixes for L4D2 maps using pretty advanced techniques with the hope that one day Valve will add them to the game (https://steamcommunity.com/app/550/discussions/1/1651043320659915818/?tscn=1598588468). 2020 hits and The Last Stand update gets announced for L4D2 and I was like "wow those map changes listed on the announcement video... I bet I know who did those!"
So I added him after making a post.
It was then that he complimented my Mario ascii art on my profile... then we both realized that he had made that same pixel art 7 years earlier. A shame he didn't know I did L4D2 mapping stuff cuz I would've been on the community update team and had my name on the update page/in the game (and I would've been able to work on the update - damn!)...
At least I'm on that same community update team now, but even we must abide by Valve time. Most of the map-related bullet points on this update: https://steamcommunity.com/games/L4D2/announcements/detail/3646280012042428637?snr=2___ were done by me!!!
Hopefully we get a new community update, at some point.

Now if you'll ex-ceeeeuuuuwwssee me, I'm going to spend a quiet evening my my NINTENDO gameCUBe.
This was probably the best year of new videogames I've experienced. Looking at my top ten... looks like a whole two of them weren't released in 2023! Looking back at my previous GOTY thread posts, that is by and away the best I've done. I think I started my last post looking at my steam wrapped with dismay at how much time I poured into roguelikes. Lemme see how I did this year...
hm.
Well, other than somehow not killing myself while grinding out the maximum rank in Hades, I managed to mostly steer clear of the Roguelike curse this year. I like roguelikes! But I dump far too much time into them and get into ruts far too quickly. But late to the party due to needing to finish up two of them, here are the games I played this year.

And yes, Silent did post this early to cheese me off a bit; I've been talking to him about how excited I was for this over the past few weeks. Thing is, I'm writing this the night before a plane flight, and IDK if SPUFpowered is gonna save this draft. I still have yet to finish American Arcadia and Cocoon and will post and amend this one once I finish them. I think I know where I'm going to place the latter, but I'm unsure about the former yet. Neither are making my top ten. Here we go!

Huff reacted to FreshHalibut in GOTY 2023
I ended up playing a mix of new and old stuff this year.
Ended up on the hypetrain for a decent number of high profile releases.
As I wrote this, I realized I played a ton of short games, mostly shooters, this year.
Stuff I played this year.
Top picks are probably
TitanFall 2 - One of the best campaigns I've played in a really fun shooter.
Disco Elysium - This one's going to stick with me
Metal Hellsinger - Finally a heavy metal Rhythm FPS game that isn't a roguelike
Robocop - Weirdly really good
Shadows of Doubt - Hope it gets more updates
Pizza Tower - Of course
Resident Evil 4 Remake - Really solid
Armored Core 6 - Really Solid
Slay the Princess - Not usually my thing, but was very surprised.
Tears of the Kingdom - Really enjoyed the new stuff, need to go back to it at some point.

Huff reacted to A 1970 Corvette in GOTY 2023
This year is probably about right even though I really feel like I didn't play anything. Honestly I kinda want to make this years' resolution to be more active and try new things on the games front.
I also give an honorable mention to TF2 because the latter half of the year I fell back in love with the Huntsman and fucking hell that weapon is so much fun to use.

Huff reacted to Silent in GOTY 2023
Hey! STOP playing videogames. I’ve had enough of your STUPID videogames. Aren’t you a little O-O-OLD to be playing videogames-
This is mostly to piss Huff off because he hasn’t finished everything yet, but I also heard there were rumblings that there were “no good games this year”. Also another friend of mine said I needed to get this posted to keep old school internet forums alive. Little half-baked in some parts but I might add a lil to it.

Huff reacted to Gyokuyoutama in Dreams
I had a dream that I've already forgotten most of the details about. Something about a relative going crazy and being barricaded in a room.
But I do clearly remember someone telling me at the end: "If you learn nothing else from this, it's that you should always keep a really big knife next to your bed." Then I woke up and since it was around 3 AM I went back to sleep.
But I guess this dream convinced me since apparently I set an alarm titled "BUY KNIFE" before going back to sleep.
