We had to put our dog down last night. In the past week she just went on a sudden down-swing, stopped eating her food, would only eat eggs or rice, and then stopped eating at all. She started throwing up... But she made it through Christmas. We put her in a wagon and pushed her out front of us on our walk, and she stood up straight and tall looking at out everything, just like on all the car and boat rides she loved so much. Then in the following days she just shut down, she could hardly stand and started having seizures, just seemed out of it. We didn't want her to suffer any longer; the vet said it was probably cancer and renal failure. She's alright now.

I'm sorry. I know the feeling, and it sucks. I'm glad she made it through one more Christmas for a few more happy memories.

I was feeling nostalgic so I went back and read through a bunch of pages of the ol' "subspufers judging subspufers" thread. Man, the drama is so funny to me now. I don't even know why I ended up with access to that subforum to begin with because I can't imagine that I was remotely tolerable back then.

I haven't spoken directly to anybody from the old SPUF days in years at this point. People just grow apart, I guess. Still, I like to come back here every now and then just because I do have fond memories, both of this place/SPUF and of the sorta merged MLM community with it. I remember being on that MLM Mumble server playing Dota or whatever for hours. I couldn't understand back then, but some people hated me. Obviously now I'm old enough to understand it's because I was just an immature kid, and adults often don't really want to hang out with kids, for one reason or another.

I wonder how Shifty is doing these days. She was always really nice to me despite everything. I don't think I'll ever forget her.

The one memory that sticks out about her is one time she said she was going out for a "fag break". Not being a Brit, I didn't realize "fag" was slang for "cigarette". I did however know she was a lesbian, so I took that to mean... You get the idea.

You know, it's pretty crazy that Slacks ended up being a big-ish name in Dota 2. I member when that guy's claim to fame was silly TF2 SPUF forum ARGs. I think I played dota with him exactly one time. He did a KOTL impression.
