I hate to say it, but I'm glad that I got out of server hosting when I did - Valve just doesn't seem to care that there are people willing to host the game for them for free and on their terms.   Sure, they did apologize for screwing up everyone's server without warning, but that shouldn't have even happened if they kept some active lines of communication with the community.

John Oliver's take on any situation tends to be the best, and it's no exception here:

Whomever made the Nostalgia theme unwisely decided to just scrape the images off of another website instead of downloading them and putting them on the server properly. I can't fix it without somehow getting the original icon.

502's aren't routing errors. It's something to do with you or your browser.   Clear your cache, uninstall and reinstall your browser and OS, put a magnet to your hard drive and buy a new one, etc.
