A project tracker! Because organization is key to getting stuff working well. http://projects.spuf.info/ Check it out, even if you're not the kind of guy that develops or runs stuff. You can still help report issues to us so that we can fix them.
-
Well, we're beta-testing, so you can join and create a team and match here: http://comp.spuf.info/ Also, further notes - improvements to everything have been pushed... management is left on the list as the last major site feature. All the backend stuff (server plugin and ratings and seasons and etc.) are also remaining. I'm not sure whether I'll be working tomorrow or not, as I need to actually do work before school begins on Monday. We'll see. No matter what happens, it won't be done tomorrow (barring a miracle) and you'll get to see the rest of it done during Winter Break. We'll have to begin advertising before then, however.

By the end of next week, I hope to have the structure for the SPUFserver Competitive League completely done. Yeah, I know, exciting stuff. Yay for a week-long Thanksgiving break that allows me to do this. I'll probably document what's going on here so that you guys can watch me suffer/yell at me. But before I begin, I'm going to lay out everything so that you guys can nitpick on it. (If you're talking about general league stuff, go to the thread that's already there. This is for technical discussion only.) SPUFserver Competitive League Goal: Code a fully functional system for the SPUFserver Competitive League that will be able to serve the league's logistical needs. Aspects: [*]web interface for visitors, players, team managers, and league admins [*]fully automatic server management plugin that seamlessly integrates with the web interface [*]ranking system that incorporates ratings and intelligently lays out the postseason Challenges: [*]designing a good database to hold the data for all eternity. Designs can always be revamped, but data can be really difficult to migrate and shift once you've got some. [*]integrating the web interface and server plugin. They should be able to do it through RCON and a common database, but there's just a lot of differences. [*]making sure that the system is simple and yet well-suited for the purpose. UI is key here, and I'm not particularly good at it, sadly enough. [*]rankings and calculations. Coding it to be autonomous will be difficult to do, but no mistakes can be had. [*]getting enough testing in. This is a short enough timeframe that I'm coding it in, and I may not get it well-tested by the time I release it to the general public come December. Decisions: [*]What framework do I use? I designed a lightweight one for SPUF.info, so do I use that or use a heavier, more established one for this? [*]Do I drop some of my desired features entirely? [*]Can I get help in coding this, particularly in areas I'm weak in?

Let's play something for Black Friday. Because deals and yes.

http://comp.spuf.info/ Almost there! Still need testing. Done (yay!): - view matches, teams, users - create matches, teams Still needs work: - edit matches, teams, users (small UI update) - manage matches, teams, users - display overview of matches, teams, users Postponing: - hall of fame
-
CloudFlare was interfering with the login redirect for some reason. It should be fixed now. Matches is fixed, although backend doesn't send it any information so it won't show anything right now. Seasons is yet to be implemented. Information is yet to be added. Try logging in and doing stuff from there.

Testers needed! I have no idea whether some stuff works right now. http://comp.spuf.info/ Check every link, report if anything's not working.

*checks inbox* *no beta invite* More relevant - good luck on your journey in the wonders of Linux land! Your first challenge is to pick the right desktop environment. By default, Ubuntu comes with the Unity user interface, which many consider to be over-simplified and terrible. You may choose at this time to either forge on with Unity, or pick another interface. The other common interfaces are: - GNOME, the default before Unity. Also has been simplified, but not as much as Unity. - KDE, known for its eyecandy. - Xfce, a light-weight environment that will save you resources. - LXDE, a REALLY light-weight environment that will save you lodsamem.
-
Yeah, someone confirmed that for me. I'll pass for now and wait for the general CS sales.
-
Should I get the CSS + GMod bundle if I already have GMod? Right now I'm not sure whether I'll get an extra copy if I get it as a gift.
-
Support is busy with all the scams and everything that happen in TF2, and it's break, so I would expect them to be swamped. They'll get to it soon.
-
Isn't Battlefront II better though? I know that I liked it so much on the PSP that it was my first Steam purchase.
-
He can afford it.

WHEN YER POOR N IRISH YOU WEAR WHATCHA HAVE That being said, I do like my Medic load out.
-
I have WinDVD, which works like a charm for Blu-Rays. Only problem is that it refuses to play regular DVDs because of my monitor config or something.
-
Has anybody said Deus Ex: Human Revolution yet? Because that should be on the list. I haven't even finished it yet and it's probably going to top my games list for the year.
-
Today's progress is abbreviated, somewhat. I got to working on matches. It's not that bad, but what's really going to drive me crazy is all of the interlocking elements in this project. I won't lie, this is hard and annoying. It definitely shouldn't have been postponed this long and done by only one person.
-
There's a really old version of IE for Mac.
-
inb4browserwars Also, would you guys believe it if I said that I manually downloaded the HTML and parsed it by hand?
-
First day of progress! Got teams and users sorta done. Because I realized how annoying this is going to be (took me almost all day to get this much done and I had other stuff to do too), I'm officially dropping mercs and searching. Still to do: - players - matches - seasons - general setup - maintenance tasks - server plugin

I'm up for this, but I'm unavailable tonight, tomorrow night, and Saturday night. Yeah.

Hello there, fine sir.

I admire the timing here. He knows when the enemy's coming and he knows the range of the taunt. Sure, there's a bit of luck, but people are unfortunate enough not to expect the unexpected.
