I personally find that having shit teammates is more detrimental to me than having good opponents. With good teammates and good opponents, they're still creating space for you to do your thing, they'll help you out when you're metaphorically or literally lit, they'll communicate stuff to you and listen to your requests ("Can someone get that mini on the roof", "Spy's by spawn", "I need someone to heal", et cetera). Like, there's probably going to be at least one good player on the other team, and I'm only barely above shit level myself (slightly more awareness and focus is literally all I have going for me). Shit plus barely-above-shit is just going to get hella spawncamped if the other team has even one good player. //edit: And of course the frustration factor of shit teammates, even setting aside the gameplay stuff....

My aim is so bad that I can't 1v1 a Scout who's dodging even when they're not shooting back at me. Zero hits. I was so amused that I stopped to get a demo rolling. Unfortunately, some asshole joined and went Heavy (a fairly new player, I think, since they (LBR probably "he") had been getting easy achievements), which, on allclass SOAP DM, is probably only outclassed BM-wise by the assholes who build sentries. I want to Strange some shotguns Better to find a good community server and stick to it, I think. Even though that can be so difficult... the prospect of such a utopian find is too alluring to pass up, right?

This server gives me some hope with its clearly stated rules and game-oriented communication and Heavies that give me their Sandvich. However, everything hurts right now and I can neither work nor play.

When does it become time to put away the Shotgun -- or Scattergun -- and lovingly introduce the world to your personal supplier of blunt force trauma? Mysteries indeed. The only reason my wrench has a kill on it is because I was running Rescue Ranger with it.

Seriously? I've literally noticed no difference at all... but then again, I haven't been Sniping, I've been shotgunning.

I turned off pointer precision. I can't even navigate around my screen anymore. Will test it out ingame sometime today, but I'm wondering if it's one of those things that doesn't actually benefit a trackpad.

I suppose you oculd just go QF and zoom around the map attached to a Scout, haha. Actually, some of my best patients have been Pyros. I think it's that they -- the ones I remember, anyway -- don't have as much of an illusion of invincibility as do some of the heavier or more powerful classes, so they don't overextend as much. Plus, of course, a decent one is good for Spychecking and protecting you from projectiles. The former of which is not necessarily useful when all the Spies are on your team... :P

Pity, but that's sensible. Would have been amusing. That festive top hat was a fairly good addition as far as festive cosmetics go; it isn't so ostentatious that you can't wear it year-round. Thumbs up.

speaking of glitches that were supposed to be fixedi was playing on a server with the afk manager plugin the other day and some guy was griefing by picking up the intel, then going afk and getting moved to spectate - but the plugin didn't force the intel drop so he was carrying it as a spectator. so the intel was just kinda floating around in the air, sometimes following people when his camera was following them. also, somehow i got back into trading after cashing out and swearing not to return. the hat bug bites again, i guess. LOL! Can you cap as a spectator? Which team would you even cap for? And have you got your eyes on a particular hat?

I'm surprised I managed to catch any players there at all; I'd seen it advertised before, but it was always at 0 players.

Aha, I have figured out the multiquote system. I wonder when they'll fix that glitch. They tried before, according to the wiki, but whatever they did failed, pfff. I did a set of jumps on a beginner jump server over and over again because I couldn't figure out how to do the bonus jump without turning on ammo regen until I could manage the easiest one in < 3 tries and the hardest one in < 20 tries. That counts as good for me. Someone told me Teamfortress.tv's Dallas DM servers allowed Engineers (honor system for no building). This, as it turned out, was not true. Alas. Scout just feels so different to me; easier to do damage, easier to outjuke opponents, easier to to flee bad situations. I've never played with him, but his reputation certainly precedes him, and I've watched the STV from the latest GSvsHL. Best of luck What is this for? A bet?

How do you survive ._. Well, you know, if I bought a mouse that would be unfair to all the other players. I stick to trackpad so that the full force of my pro MLG skillz won't be unleashed upon the unsuspecting public. ... Nah, it's just that I am 1) cheap and 2) fussy about where my (laptop) monitor and keyboard are positioned, so even if I had a big desk, it would probably be the wrong height. I move it around a lot, from my table to my lap to being propped up on something on my lap, etc. I don't know how that would even work with a mouse. I thought about writing an article for the Daily SPUF about playing with a trackpad, but until I have played with a mouse, there's only a few things I can say: raise sensitivity, turn off tap to click, turn off keyboard guard (or whatever your computer's equivalent is)*, and assiduously maintain clealiness. Oh, and I suppose keys on the right side of the keyboard become more feasible binds for stuff not necessary in the heat of battle (though comma, period, etc. should still be reachable?) *I had this on for like the first month or more of playing TF2. Basically, I couldn't WASD and turn at the same time. That was really fun.

I hopped into a jump server on a whim today -- well, partly whim and partly because of a combination of getting beat into a pulp by bombing Soldiers in Soap DM and seeing some inspired stickyjumper pogos in a match -- and met this rather nice player who basically held my hand through the first three walljump obstacles (I'm pretty sure that's not what they're called, but I don't know what they're called). This took a long time. I was very slow in every sense; my reflexes are not the greatest, and as I've half-defiantly half-ruefully brought up before, I play using a trackpad. My impromptu mentor not only gave general tips but also demonstrations and specific advice based on watching my attempts, and high-fived me every time I (finally) got to a ledge. When I finally reached the third ledge, we both typed YES in the chat at the same moment ;_; Nice people ;____________________; Things that I learned: -to hold crouch rather than tap it -to +forward into infinity (specific to wall jumping, if I understand correctly; I have heard the opposite for normal rocket jumps?) -flicking the crosshairs down as I fire at the wall for some reason produces better results (less over/undershooting) -my body is apparently under the impression that physically standing up will help me attain better height in video games (this is by all reports untrue) I still have no idea how I'm doing the first jump, though. It's literally Point RL To Side, Jumpfire(??), Crouch, Mysterious Strafing Things Are Going On??? //edit: STAR_ is going to be on a Plat HL team next season, alongside b4nny and sigafoo. I'm extremely unsure how to feel about this. I regard the fellow as a rather distasteful celebrity, and I am automatically puzzled about why big famous high-level sixes players would bother with a format that they typically look down upon as less skilled, less professional, and less exciting. This team is apparently the newest version of The Syndicate, though, so obviously sigafoo is following through on the sentiment he's expressed before, that he's tired of not being on winning teams. Well, this is certainly one way to address that... Except STAR_, who knows about that guy.

Record demos. Those still work, right? Yes. Startmovie name avi doesn't work, but the trick is to record the demo, and then FRAPS the playback so that your actual game doesn't lag.

Thank you :') Um, yes, right. Well, when I'm not busy being banned, I am busy screwing over my academic career by playing/thinking of too much TF2. I like to make lists, conduct tests (...not the kind that require IRB approval), and watch HL and 4v4. Also, the Turkish language is pretty cool.
