I don't think the game's for everyone but I've been searching for that elusive THIRD Switch game and think I've found it in Octopath. I'm about 60 hours in and still haven't finished all of the storylines yet, and am still in love with the game. And Tressa.

have you ever heard of a game called Undertale?

  3. I mean honestly I suspect most large projects (ie TES6) are probably being developed with the aim to release them on the PS5/Xbox420. Things like the PS4 Pro and One X just seem like last ditch efforts to get sales out of the current gen, and I doubt they'll go down the route Nintendo did with the 3ds where they keep releasing newer versions of the same console and slowly phase out the older versions. It's probably better for the game itself if they focus on next gen.

Probably the stupidest thing they've done yet, why the fuck else would anyone be on Steam other than because of the games? Is the Steam ERP scene really that big? I can understand having the option but 1) it should be public by default like profile visibility and more importantly 2) people should've been fucking told about this by something other than an obscure blog nobody really knows about (https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1667896941884942467). This blog's been up as long as a routine and utterly inconsequential KF2 update and has less than twice comments despite being of vastly more importance. Would it be that fucking hard to give everyone a head's up? Just reuse that same shitty green e-mail verification banner you used to nag me with all the damn time.

It's likely changed because the EU are introducing a new regulation on the 25th of May called the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). All companies which want to function in any EU member state now have to abide by the regulation. It's being introduced because currently there are no general rules for data protection across the EU, instead it's left up to the member states to regulate on it (which has caused issues in the past when people are living in one member state, but their data is being controlled/processed in another member state). The regulation covers a LOT of things, but I would speculate that them making game stats friends only is in order to cover themselves in the event that someone says that these stats come under the umbrella of 'personal data', which they would probably be correct in saying. The gist of the regulation is that the user has to be given the ultimate control of their data, and the company controlling or processing the data can no longer automatically opt people in, or have their opt-ins included in other terms like T&Cs when it comes to using their data in any way.

I've spent a decent amount of time reading the regulation in the past couple of months since it's cropped up in my classes, and in the solicitors firm that I had a a placement in. I can say that from what I've read and from what I've heard many other people say the regulation is and extremely good thing for the general consumer, and if I had to choose between this regulation being implemented or having my play time on steam games automatically shown to random people I think I'd choose the former every time.
