So We All Chipped in And Bought This Stupid Mansion
LadyBernkastel replied to LadyBernkastel's topic in The Drawing Board
So, two days of having time to think about where to take the story from here, and I'm still at a loss. Choosing to think of scenarios as I go instead of having one singular plot in mind probably wasn't my best idea. As such, I've decided the best thing to do for now is take a step back and come back to this story later. In the intervening time, I do have enough of SPUF City 2's plot completed that I could probably begin it now and avoid this problem. Would you guys be interested in seeing that until I can get this story back on track? If I see myself able to come back to this story before SPUF City 2 ends, I may try to run them both concurrently. What do you think? -

Nuu chapter. Future chapters will be longer, I just needed to get this one out of the way. [spoiler2]Chapter 4 “You cloned Verumae?!” Doopliss flipped through the pages of his book, trying to find a spell to undo the effects of the cloning. “What the hell were you thinking?!” “In my defense, it seemed like a good idea at the time.” LadyBernkastel was hiding behind Corvette, peeking at Doopliss through Corvette’s hair. “I mean, don’t you think Verumae deserves love too?” Doopliss closed the booked and groaned. He put the book back on its shelf and grabbed another book. “Bern, I’ve told you a thousand times. NEVER touch my magic books. You have no idea how they work, what they do, or how strong the effects are.” “You could just be like me and avoid magic all together.” Corvette started walking towards the window of their room. “Isn’t that right, Pinky~?” "Shut the hell up!" “But you should have seen how happy Verumae was when I cloned him. It was like he finally found true love!” Bernkastel sighed and drooped her head. “I’m sorry, Doopliss.” Doopliss didn’t say a word. He closed the book and set it back up on the shelf. “I’m having trouble finding a spell to undo this spell. Until I do, you take care of the Verumae’s, Bern. Don’t let anyone find out what you did. Make sure you take care of anything they need.” “Yes, sir.” Bernkastel jumped up and raced out the door. Corvette walked over and started skimming through Doopliss’s books as well. “Hey, there’s a spell in here to make people fall in love with you. Do you think it works?” Doopliss snatched the book from his hands. “Let me se – I mean, Corvette, you should know better than this. Magic isn’t just some kind of a toy you can play around with.” “Aw, but I want to see the book!” Corvette snatched the book back, ripping the page he was reading. Doopliss glared at him, holding the other half of the page. “You’re fixing that.” ------------------- Medic and Buddha slowly stomped up the stairs leading to Verumae’s room. Buddha was trying to convince her to not go up there. “Do we have to see Verumae? I mean we could always go to the city and get some Red Bull there.” “No, Idiot Cube is in trouble. He needs the anti-weeaboo elixir now. Verumae has the Red Bull we need.” “Okay, I don’t normally share information like this, but . . . you have to know it to know why we can’t go up here.” Buddha brought Medic close and whispered in her ear. “Ever since about 3 months ago, Verumae’s been acting weird. Cube and I personally served him his dinner every day up to that point, but he suddenly decided he didn’t want that anymore. He requested that only people who had never served him before bring him his dinner. Cube and I have never been up here since that day. He also started getting really mean after that. It’s like he became a different person.” “Whether or not Verumae started being a dick recently means nothing. We need that Red Bull, and I’m going to get it!” Medic walked up to the door, passing the second step that all visitors of Verumae were supposed to stand on. Buddha tried to warn her, but Medic was already knocking on the door. Bernkastel showed up at the bottom of the staircase. When she saw Medic getting ready to greet Verumae, she started freaking out. “Wait! No! Don’t open that door!” Verumae’s door opened, revealing the fifty Verumaes, all staring Medic down. “What are you doing on my level?!” Medic tried to present herself professionally. “Greetings, Verumae. I’m here, because I need some Red Bull from you.” The fifty Verumaes all yelled out in unison. “No one gets on my level!” They all darted out of the door, knocking Buddha, Medic and Bernkastel down the stairs and on to the floor. The first one to her feet was Medic. “So, since when has Verumae been fifty people?” Bernkastel hid in the corner of the hall. “Eh heh heh heh. Right. About that . . .” “I think the weirdest thing is that none of them look like Verumae.” Buddha tried to remember Verumae’s face. “I mean, it’s been a few months since I’ve seen him myself, but I’m pretty sure Verumae doesn’t look like that.” Medic started walking back up the stairs. “Come on. Now that his room is empty, let’s get that Red Bull.” Medic, Buddha, and Bernkastel walked up the stairs into Verumae’s room. They quickly opened his mini fridge and saw it completely empty. “What?! They drank all the Red Bull?!” Medic took off her glasses and replaced them with shades. “Oh, they are going to regret the day they crossed me.” [/spoiler2] -

REAL LIFE IS GETTING IN THE WAY That being said, I'm proofreading the next chapter now. It's kind of short. I couldn't think of much to add for this chapter. I can think of far more ideas for future chapters. That and my brain seems to only want to think of ideas for the SPUF City 2 that will be coming in the future. -

Which get into the argument every other Republican makes: The belief it'll start is down the slippery slope to becoming socialist. -

I can't quite remember. The last time I heard about it was during election season. Something about small business owners being required to provide health care for employees and this would cost far more than a small business is able to pay. My memory may be failing me though. -

Speaking as someone who lives among Republicans, there seems to be a unanimous belief that Obamacare would be the deathblow to small business. -

So, the main thrust of the Republican argument seems to be something along the lines of "Obamacare will without a doubt harm small business." Which I originally agreed with myself, but now I have to wonder. Every single time I've heard someone argue this, it sounded just like theorycrafting except IRL. Is there any actual merit to this? Even if there was, I'd have to question letting bigger issues plague the country just to defend it. Also, what XYTWO said. -

You two are far old enough to know that depends on who you listen to. Everyone has their political boogeyman and will attack it to say they hold no blame. -

Can they really not agree to compromise on anything? I'm probably the farthest right member of this forum, but even I don't see how stubbornly refusing to budge on Obamacare is worth this. -

Well, last night I was mostly Demoman, but it was still far above how I normally do. I say after three years, I still haven't adjusted to keyboard and mouse setups. Not that I play well with a control, just better than normal. My accuracy is higher. Somehow.

So the last few days I started playing TF2 with a controller again. I'm doing better than normal. wat
