    I bought a fedora when I was in elementary school

    I went through the full fedora phase (including antitheism, a lot of memes, nice guy/why don't girls like me, etc) over about two years starting in fifth grade, and while it was regrettable, I'm glad I got it out of the way when I did

     

    today while I was at the bike shop at which I work, I was sitting with my bike on a trainer (looks like this) with my cycling shoes on, trying to get into a new set of clipless pedals

    for those who don't know what clipless pedals are, they're basically hard pieces of plastic that attach to the bottom of your shoe combined with a metal pedal that basically just has a hole that's slightly too small

    so you shove the plastic piece on the bottom of your shoe through the hole and it locks your foot in so you can pedal more efficiently, safely and smoothly (you usually get out by twisting your foot in some weird way)

    well, these pedals were brand new and extremely stiff, so much so that I literally could not get my foot to lock in even by putting literally 100% of my weight on it (most riders are heavier than I am and don't have a problem with this)

    some of you may see the problem

    in order to get my foot in, I had the great idea of standing up with the left pedal on the top and dropping my weight on it as hard as I could so that I'd pop in at the bottom

    this, of course, sent me, my bike, and the trainer swiftly to the left and onto the shop floor

    but get this: I clipped in

    and I couldn't get out

    so I was stuck to my bike, my bike was stuck to the trainer and we were all on the floor. thankfully the shop owner was in the back and there were no customers in the store

    I had to reach under the bike and unlace my shoe so that I could get out and clean up the mess I made

    I was able to break them in a bit but I still can't really get out and I'm terrified of what will happen when I decide to actually go for a ride

    what do you mean by that? do you mean that in the event of an emergency, you should focus on securing your own safety rather than that of those around you? because I agree with that, but there are many situations in which you might not be able to secure your own safety without any sort of weaponry

    I would just like to say that I'm getting a handgun and a concealed carry permit the day I turn 21, and that I have both a legal and an ethical right to do so

    The victims of Paris tragedy have not been buried yet, the criminals are still on the loose and the police has not even finished the investigation and yet the EU is announcing measures to prevent something like that from happening again. EU commision is pushing European Firearms Directive in which it plans to ban EVERY military-style (no, you can't get more ambiguous) semiautomatic firearm, calling for IMMEDIATE CONFISCATION WITHOUT COMPENSATION.

    what does ILLEGALLY aquired automatic Kalashnikov from black market has to do with legally aquired, castrated version that only looks simmilar

    there never is logic in anything EU commison does

    if this goes trough EU parliament, and then is accepted by our paliament, i'm leaving this continent

    there are some really stupid arguments for/against gun control in this thread, but let's make one thing clear: the attacks in paris were in no way aided or made easier by french or european policy, and imposing stricter regulations on ownership of firearms is one of the least effective responses that I can think of

    first of all, I was okay with getting banned until I realized that my post was deleted. there was literally only one objectionable line in the entire post, and I was told that I was on a "high horse", which is certainly not true. as I said when I messaged rammite to see if I was banned, that was not a high horse, that was an aggressive horse.

    Here's my two cents on the matter. I don't know fuck all about what's happening in Syria, but evert war is just a conflict of beliefs. The Syrian/Islam/Muslims have one set of beliefs based on their religion and so do western countries that are involved (it's just their beliefs are less based on religion and more on what they believe to be morally acceptable)

    there's a war going on in syria, but this didn't happen in syria. this happened in france. there is no war going on in france.

    a war is militants vs militants

    this is militants vs civilians, better known as "terrorism"

    Each side looks at the other and thinks "X thing about them is horrible/wrong/shouldn't happen" and makes it their purpose to try and fix it. We think that we're right, they think that they're right and to be honest that's not something that a war or attacks on the opposing side can just change.

    While I don't believe that we (the west) should just go "nah fuck it its their problem they can deal with it themselves" I do think that we're applying our standards and beliefs to a place where ours just don't make sense to them, and the only people who'll change their beliefs are the people from those countries.

    Id say this is not about how the poor widdle muswims are being literally oppressed in current year but more about how the few ones that actually are terrorists just killed 128 people

    Im not sure what the exchange rate is between discrimination and being lined up and shot in the back of the head but Im inclined to say that islam is not the big victim here

    ​This is fair. I lashed out at Verumae because I was in a really bad mood and his post pushed my buttons the wrong way.

    you disagreed with someone and said something mean. that's okay. that's what's happening to muslims right now. that's better than coming to my house, shooting me and then blowing up my family.

    However. I'm seeing a lot of posts on social media advocating the "bomb the shit out of them" position. And virtually everyone on Facebook is doing the French-flag-overlay thing. 

    not sure that anybody here is saying we should bomb the shit out of them. although I think that would probably solve things (if we were thorough enough), it's simply neither ethical nor feasible. 

     

    final note: breivik was right. he tried to warn us and we didn't listen. I will reiterate that I'm not saying we should start deporting muslims, or we should immediately wage war, but what we're doing now is absolutely not working, and it's only going to get worse from here.

    it's not confirmed yet to be carried out by islamists, but I'll go ahead and wager my entire hat collection on the fact that it is

    I don't know what the answer is to the islamist problem, but the muslim world has been at war with the west for a while now

    I'm not particularly fond of france but nobody deserves this, especially not a city of unarmed civilians

    up until about a year ago I never had any dreams really, when I started school last year until maybe december I'd have dreams more often and since I got out of school maybe I've been having nightmares on the nightly

    at least they're interesting

    some of the highlights include:

    a reoccurring dream where the brakes in my car don't work and I'm unable to avoid an accident that kills me, an innocent pedestrian, and/or a loved one in my passenger seat

    a reoccurring dream where I drop my phone due to some circumstances beyond my control, the screen breaks, and my life is ruined

    a reoccurring dream where I'm back in high school and failing three classes I didn't know I was taking and the semester is almost over

    a dream where I walked up to a girl I liked and immediately got called an autist and told to fuck off

    a dream where someone told me I had narrow shoulders and I looked in the mirror and they were incredibly narrow (my shoulders are perfectly broad)

    a dream where I find myself behind the wheel of a car on a busy road and I'm drunk as fuck (only happens after I've been drinking)

    a reoccurring dream where my parents catch me with some kind of drugs

    a dream where all of my friends turn into viral marketers and my phone is getting blown the fuck up with mountain dew advertisements

    a dream where I got out of bed at 9:00 AM and it was still dark so I yelled at my brother

    a reoccurring dream where my late dog has come back to haunt me and I must decide what to do with her

    and the other night I had the nicest dream of my life. my unbelievably fucking hot aunt moved in with me, and I was in the kitchen on my phone when she walked in naked and asked if I was taking pictures of her. I said no, took my phone, called me a pervert, then grabbed my crotch and I just fell over. FUCK she was fine. I LOVE YOU TÍA

     

    praying for this shit state to legalize so I can fall asleep and stay asleep and not have to deal with this shit
