...In good news related to EA, Double Fine somehow managed to snag all the rights to Brutal Legend from EA. All of them. The EA logo is absolutely nowhere to be seen in the PC version of the game. Makes me tear up. It's beautiful.

Blacker than a moonless sky... Hotter and more bitter than Hell itself... That is coffee. -
I renounce my previous statement and state that the badge and climbing axe look pretty okay. The bandage is dumb, though.

Wow, I thought the Bioshock promos were boring. These Tomb Raider promos are outright underwhelming.

This is the stuff that happened in my neighborhood today. I'll leave the names out just in case. I got out of my classes for the day, and waited for the 157 (not 156, my usual) bus so I could drop a game off for my bud before heading home. Got a call from mom saying shit was going down in the neighborhood, at Jenny Doe's house. I knew Jenny way back in grade school. We were in the same class for all 6 years, but I didn't know much about her. Anyway, it was something about her father. She told me to stay somewhere else for a while because they weren't going to let anyone into the cordoned-off zone (which our house was in), and that she couldn't go anywhere because the street was locked down. So I spent like 2 hours at my bud's, teaching him the ropes of Monster Hunter and stuff. Headed back home, hoping things would be wrapping up by then. (this picture was taken from our house, looking towards the police line where I waited) They weren't. At least not yet. I walked up to THREE news vans parked behind the police line, where a SWAT van, a riot police trailer, and several police cars were parked on the sides of the streets. The house in question was right around the corner, so the people who were looking on from there couldn't see anything. Unluckily, my house is right at the corner. My mom said (over the phone) that they probably wouldn't let anyone through, especially not all the way to the corner. So I waited. When I got wind of when this was gonna be broadcasted, I got my laptop out (apparently it was a little too late at that point) and soon after everyone cleared out and I could get back home. So here's how it went down. John Doe (the husband) gets hammered. He then threatens violence against Jane Doe (the wife) and then proceeds to strike Jane with a pistol (which was loaded, mind you), then points it at her, threatening to shoot. Clearly this guy was not terribly attached to reality at this point. But then, Johnny Doe (the son) whacks the gun out of John's hand, picks it up, and manages to escape with his mom. My mom saw the pair running away from their house, in tears. I dunno who called the cops, but they certainly came in force. Riot police, SWAT, and at least 6 squad cars, with news vans not far behind. Everyone was carrying guns. Except the news crew of course, that would be silly. (More from the house, lucky my mom is a freelance photographer) Then John killed himself. Yes, apparently the house contained multiple firearms. I don't know how many, but there was more than one pistol. It took several hours before the SWAT team stopped attempting to negotiate (after no response) and found that the man had been dead for hours already. Jane and Johnny are fine, and apparently Jenny was attending Humboldt University (which is nowhere near here). The police and SWAT teams cleared out relatively quickly after that, though the news vans stuck around for interviews from bystanders. And that's what happened.
