how exactly can you be trans in a warrior culture that probably does not have access to modern medical procedures
-
I realize that, not having interacted with him, this is probably not my place, but I'm going to go ahead and say this since it's on my mind
I really am not sure about the whole video thing
I don't think that his family would appreciate a bunch of internet strangers saying things about their dead son, even if they're nice things
They even asked for donations to that fund in lieu of any cards or flowers
I believe that it would be disrespectful to their wishes, as well as presumptuous and dishonest to act like any of us has experienced anywhere near the pain and loss that his family has

I never met the guy, but damn if that isn't sobering.
Mortality is something I've been contemplating of late, and I've decided that it scares the hell out of me.
For something like this to happen so suddenly to someone so young is stoking that internal flame once again.
I guess he found out what's on the other side before any of us did.
Good luck, man. I hope it's exactly what you wanted it to be.

isn't corpse party a video game
-
I'm kidding, I wasn't around for Jund meta, I just wanted to spur a little discussion
-
deathrite shaman should come back but without BBE
then maybe every deck ever wouldn't mainboard 4 goyfs
-
I guess pod ban was needed since it won everything forever, but I'd prefer if they had unbanned bloodbraid elf and ancestral visions to boost the decks that kill pod instead. Pod was a really interesting and skillful deck and there is really no way to build it now.
yes, let's go back to 75% jund meta
-
I can't say I'm especially happy about the Cruise/DTT bans because UR Delver really wasn't the big problem it was made out to be (in Modern), but I'm inclined to believe Pod deserved what it got, especially with it winning as many Grand Prix as it has over the past year
and me being a creature deck player that isn't Pod
-
okay this pre-made Peer Through Time EDH deck is pretty legit
I wasn't convinced at first but after dropping Ixidron on a rather full board and then using mana ramp artifacts to play a kicked Rite of Replication targeting him on the next turn, I'm pretty well convinced this deck is capable of some seriously ridiculous shit
-
I was thinking about maybe a Rakdos-colors deck abusing creature sac and then bringing them back with Alesha. For example, having out Alesha and Lyzolda, the Blood Witch, and swinging with Kathari Bomber. He deals his combat damage and his triggered ability goes to the stack, then I sac him to Lyzolda, deal 2 damage to a target of my choice and draw a card. Then his ability resolves, I get two Goblin tokens, and he's already dead. And if I want to, I can bring him back the very next turn and do it again by swinging with Alesha.
-
I want to make a Tiny Leaders deck around Alesha, Who Smiles At Death
I just hope she doesn't end up being too expensive
If I were to, do you guys have any suggestions as to what would synergize especially well with her?
I was thinking of not bothering with white due to the 1-of limit applying to nonbasic lands and just sticking with RB and using things that could be abused horribly like Fulminator Mage

After a long hiatus, we'll be resuming with YRYR Season 2 this afternoon at a time TBD
I'll update with the time when it's about ~10 minutes beforehand since I'm incapable of planning ahead even a couple of hours
Arm the Homeless and Silent reacted to this -
I hadn't, actually.
It's definitely a maybe, since I can always use another 2/1 beater. I'll see about a little testing with it in Xmage.
-
I really don't see me winning later in the game regardless. If I'm that far in and Torpor Orb hasn't shown up yet, their advantage is probably already insurmountable, so it wouldn't really be any worse to draw than anything else since the game would be basically over by then anyway.
I also have Pithing Needles in my side which I could use as Pod hate, and I think it might be more effective than the Unravel the AEther simply because it can come out on turn 1, and there's things I'd much rather be spending 2 mana for on turn 3 or 4 than Unravel the AEther, like a kicked Vines. It'd be vulnerable to Abrupt Decay, yes, but if they're spending two mana on that, then they aren't spending it on putting out Pod, which suits my purposes anyway.
Or maybe I'm way off base. The matchup is basically my worst one regardless. It and Ad Nauseam were the only decks I had trouble with on Friday, and even still I took one game off Ad Nauseam and damn near took the next, but lost to two topdecked Angel's Graces buying him time to combo.
-
Well pod is a really good deck with a ton of lifegain so I can only assume it is pretty much the worst possible matchup a monogreen deck could have
Stuff that could help is possibly extra copies of Rancor to get your damage through, creature removal in the form of Dismember and maybe Torpor Orb to stop all their etb triggers which is what the deck is built around. While it is a bit too expensive, Bramblecrush or Acidic Slime could maybe help since it can take out both Pod and Gavony Township
I already run 4 rancor mainboard, as well as 3 sideboard Unravel the Aethers to get rid of the Pod. I only have one torpor orb in sideboard but even in games where it comes out early it still doesn't help all that much, I generally don't even win them. Dismember is possible I guess. I'll look into it.
But that doesn't really help much since they don't rely on any one creature, and if I dismember something with pod out they'll just sac it

so question
after going 3-1 and making top 4 with my stompy deck in last night's FNM, I got 2-0'd by Pod
how exactly do you even beat this deck unless you're using an infinite combo deck
he didn't even need to have his pod to win, it was used only a couple of times
-
Mana screw is the worst, not just to have, but also to play against because it's the one thing games shouldn't be, which is boring
it's boring to lose a game because of it and it's boring to win a game because of it -
Most "holy books" have similar passages. There's over a billion muslims on this planet, and the vast majority would never do this.
You know what's funny though?
That very website he linked also has an article linked to early in the one Gigolo posted addressing this very statement.

note to self: if playing against a deck against whom you desperately need artifact hate, merely siding in 5 artifact hate cards isn't enough, you must mulligan down to 1 if you have to until they're in your starting hand, because you're sure as hell never going to draw them
-
After a good ~100 matches testing against various archetypes in Xmage I have come to the conclusion that while not perfect, my stompy deck is entirely viable, especially since it generally shits on UR Delver which is ~the~ thing to play these days evidently
-
I haven't used Cockatrice but Xmage works really well for such an ambitious project
It's not perfect, some abilities are bugged in some ways, but it generally works
-
I assume so since I see plenty of commander games going on
