If you can get anything, including moves, reasonably easily, I'd say Starmie. Surf-Psychic-Thunderbolt-Ice Beam gg elite 4. Or Lapras. Or, oddly enough, Azumarill with Huge Power. How the heck did Pikachu's blue clone become viable with one ability?

So Cell was showing me Pokecheck yesterday. Due to some glitch or something, I couldn't get the Breloom I wanted. Instead, I got: a Manaphy 10th Anniversary Articuno Uxie and like 15 junk mons The hell? Edit: Just retried the thing. The first two things I got were: Mewtwo Deoxys-Defense Then I got a Mew. And then THE EXACT SAME Mewtwo. Same ID, stats, everything.

Incidentally, that was my big gripe with HGSS. Most of the available roster before the Elite Four kinda sucks. Best fire-type available in Silver at that point is either Magmar or Typhlosion. Best Electric (who's pretty much vital for half of Lance)? Magneton, Ampharos, or Electrode. Or Jolteon if you have the patience for (a) Pokeathlon to get a thunderstone, and ( Hours of Voltorb Flip for TM24 (true for all of them, really). After that, you're pretty much forced into using Alakazam/Lugia for Bruno and Koga, Lapras for Lance's Dragonite Trinity, and either one of the Hitmons or Machamp for Karen. The hell, Game Freak. Also, the lack of VS. Seeker (the pokegear's phone call system WOULD be okay, if they didn't call me every 30 goddamn seconds to talk about FECKING RATICATES) makes level grinding a massive pain. If you figure you'll need a team of mid-40s or so to take on the elite 4, that will take forever. I was so happy that Gen 5 literally gives you the Lucky Egg. It shaves off days worth of leveling.

So what does this mean for science? I mean, it's cool and all, but what can be done from there?

How in the hell is the watch going to work? At least the DR had a definable thing.
-
Also, get something with fire and/or Psychic. The Elites become a mile easier with those types.
-
Ho-oh... start with Thunder Wave. It's far easier to land than sleep, will last the whole fight, etc). Then whittle like crazy. Use neutral moves first, then switch to resisted moves until it's in the red, then chuck Dusk balls like there's no tomorrow.

And crate 56 has a strange Fire Axe. Where's Huff?

So my uniformly level 58 team walks all over the elite 4. Get to champion. It's a girl who I strongly suspect is younger than the player character, with music best described as "giddy." And then she sends out a ♥♥♥♥ing Hydreigon to start the match what the hell edit: aaand I walked all over her too. I'm actually surprised, considering she had an Archeops and a Haxorus in there as well.

On another Emerald note, I just checked the champion's team. Due to terrible movepools, it is entirely possible to take out four of Wallace's six with a Shedinja, and the other two you just have to watch for Toxic. I need to try this. also level grinding my newly acquired starmie before the elite 4 in white 2 just...seven...more...levels...

Am I the only one who had absolutely no trouble with Yelena (the second fight)? Also I got Namir by tossing a stun grenade (i think) at him, rushing at him while he froze up, then unleashing a pair of full-power Typhoon shots.

Which makes the "I want an American cheeseburger" bit in Iron Man... awkward.

I vote Star Wars original trilogy. -
I'm in the middle of Mass Effect 1, having gotten the whole series as a gift last October (fucking backlogs). I only just discovered how ridiculously good the pistol is like 12 hours in. Also in a run of Dragon Quest V, aka "Being Protagonist is Suffering". Let's count the ways this PC's life sucks: Starts as a 6-year-old child traveling with his (very badass) father, who is searching for some legendary hero or some such. Your mother is not seen. Roughly two hours in, your dad gets fireball'd to ashes in front of you and then you get put into a slave mine for ten offscreen years. Once gameplay resumes, you manage to escape in a barrel, and end up picking up the search for the legendary hero (who can be identified by being able to wield a special sword, shield, and helmet). You find the sword rather quickly, but can't use it because you're not the hero. Eventually, you find the shield, but you have to do some trials to be allowed to marry some rich guy's daughter to get it (she's actually nice, so at least there's that). During one of these trials, you meet your childhood friend, and she also wants to marry you. You decide (interestingly, in the original, if you didn't choose the childhood friend, her life goes down the tubes fast) who to marry, get the shield, and set off. You and your wife end up in a city where, turns out, your dad had been king before running off with you to search for the hero. You get crowned king and your wife gives birth to twins. Not ten minutes after this, your wife gets kidnapped while everyone's asleep, so you go off to rescue her, leaving the kids in the castle's care. You fight your way through a tower to get to her... and then once you do, the villain's second-in-command reveals that your son is the legendary hero, and then turns you and your wife to stone. She gets taken off somewhere, while you get sold to a random family, where you stand in a garden watching their child grow up and then get kidnapped by monsters. Roughly eight years later, your kids and uncle find and fix you, and the adventuring begins again. And I'm not up to the endgame yet, but jeeyeezus, is this depressing. And this has been Simon, with far too much time on his hands.
