I've played, uh...10 minutes of CS:S. And part of me wants to buy CS:GO.decisions...

Every single time I have played Gold/Silver or the remakes thereof, I always name the rival ???. Also, whoever designed Voltorb flip should be shot on sight with a bazooka.

Amusingly, Black and White have a variant on it: Critical Capture, which makes the ball shake once rather than three times (but can still fail if you're really unlucky).

I just had one of those "random button presses actually work" moments. Trying to catch a Misdreavus (who have a very low chance of capture and love running away) in the Johto Safari Zone, on my third ball of the encounter, buttonmash A and B in quick succession. It worked.Oh, and for music: N's castle is so amazing I just sat there once for an hour.

So this began as a response to a derail in that Gadgets thread. But I feel like I have to get this off my chest. I own a Macbook Pro from 2010, and I frequently hear and see people insulting it on the internet. And as a satisfied Mac user, it pisses me off. I'm not going to say my computer's specs are better. I admit that even considering it's from 2010, it's weaker hardware than most laptops at its price point ($1799 for the base 15" model). [biased fanrant] HOWEVER What it does have going for it is software. One hell of an OS (anything Leopard and up is spectacular), a bunch of damn good programs relatively cheap (Pages is $20 and is nearly as good as Word, Keynote is virtually identical to PowerPoint and also $20), and a ton of included stuff (iTunes, iMovie, Final Cut among others). The App Store is... actually I can't really call this one excellent. It's good and improving, but they sell games at stupidly high prices (Arkham Asylum and Modern Warfare 1 are $40 each, among others. Seriously terrible pricing). And the topper is that if I need to do something on Windows (which, for me, is gaming and not much else), it has the ability to dual-boot. So yeah, you pay a premium for the software. But it's some damn good software. [/biased fanrant]

Team Magma in Emerald loses all points the moment they try to dump stolen rocket fuel into a volcano to make it erupt. There is no possible way that would expand the landmass. Partly because that volcano was in the middle of the region... surrounded by land. Team Aqua wins on costumes alone because pirates. Team Rocket's pretty cool outside of the anime. Galactic... the main boss gives you a Master Ball. After you beat him in battle twice. There is no level of retard high enough for that. Plasma is interesting, but still stupid. N actually makes sense in his motives, but the rest of the team is morons. Yes, first random grunt, kick the Pokemon who you're trying to kidnap to make other people free their Pokemon. THAT'LL SHOW THEM.

I liked Gen 3 a lot, actually. 4 was iffy for me. I liked it the first time or two, but then it was just FUCK THE DISTORTION WORLD. From what I'm hearing of Black/White 2, it's got a bizarre level of similarities to Gold and Silver: Expanded regional dex, return of villain organization, old cameos... And even all of that aside, I'd pay $100 JUST for the World Tournament thing because battling Red.

I do like the games, the main problem I personally had was, in a bizarre way, one of the main selling points: No previous pokemon until the post-game. This would not be a problem if 80% of the available mons weren't so butt-ugly. I don't want a garbage bag, they're called garbage bags for a reason. I just want to run around with my magical taekwondo master. That said, the plot was pretty cool, the characters interesting (except N about half the time), and by god those graphics are sexy. Also Sawsbuck.

Found this baby in the back of another dresser, fully intact and holofoil image. And to make it even better, it's one of my all-time favorite Pokemon too.
