So my dad lent me his laptop for schoolwork if need be. Current plan: put my laptop through its paces and see if the crashes have somehow been magically stopped by my restoring to a backup that I made before doing any of the wipe stuff last week.

So I just got through a battle on showdown where my opponent's strategy involved Shuckle + Accupressure + Rollout. Clearly, now that Swagger has been banned, people are trying to find a new "most evil" strategy.

There's a statute of limitations on spoilers. IE: At the time of release, the Snape thing was a legit spoiler. Now, everyone more or less knows about it even if they don't know the context. My personal rule: if it's within the last five years or so, don't spoil. If the spoiler is more than five years ago but a critical plot point, don't spoil (corollary: if it's for a thing that's still running and the spoiler is for something from, like, season 2 of 7, that's iffy) that said I tend to be a compulsive spoiler reader and it's a horrible habit

So in what may be the worst moment in this whole saga, the tech guy I'm currently talking to is saying that, because the system was wiped, no records of the kernel crashes exist. Ergo, I have to wait for it to crash again, send him an email with the crash logs, and pray it's enough to get it diagnosed as an actual problem. And now I can't go more than ten minutes without a crash. Even after wiping the hard drive entirely. I am every kind of done that exists, and several kinds that don't. Current plan: restore from yesterday's backup, grab as much music/videos as I can, punt them to ipod, use shitty desktop stations in dorm until further notice. edit: So long story short, I'm going to be trying to get a thing from Apple to mail my laptop to them for repair (it's almost certainly the gpu logic board). In the meantime, my dad's mailing up his laptop for me to use.

I loved that bit. I'm not sure why, but I've been rewatching GX. The japanese version is better with the serious plot (season 3- aka "and you thought this show was cheerful"), but the shitty English dub has a tongue-in-cheek feel to it that makes the first season guiltily amusing. The 4kids propensity for electric guitar everywhere, however, does not help.
