Alexis Ohanian, the man who fired Victoria, is the co-founder of reddit and the executive chairman of the company. His position is superior to Pao's. Say what you want, but she was the scapegoat in this whole situation. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

You do realize the guy who made the joke was a legitimate racist, right? I do believe that there are some people that have actual criticism on Pao's decisions as CEO, but I feel that there are a lot more who are simply using her as a scapegoat. For example, if the cancer thing is true, then that is a valid reason to dislike her, but that only came to light a few days before she resigned, long after the hate for her started. Proof. From what I've gathered, there's no evidence that she was the one who got rid of all those subs, nor was she the one who fired Victoria. It's just my opinion on the whole situation. Reddit has always been known as a place with casual racism and sexism, so it's not surprising to me that there was a lot of hate for Ellen Pao whenever something bad happened on the site. It'll be interesting to see how they react to the new CEO, and whether they'll blame every problem that happens solely on him.

It does become a problem when their "consumers" are a bunch of entitled man-children who freak out when they don't get their way. Based on your logic, does that mean they should bring back /r/jailbait?

Eh, my point still stands. I genuinely believe that Ellen Pao resigning is a bad thing for reddit, and not just because of the racism and sexism, but also because it shows that if redditors whine enough, then they can get what they want.

are you having a laugh? I don't see how race or gender have to do with being an idiot. It's not racist if you ask a black person to stop punching plate glass windows - you're pointing out that they're doing something stupid, not that they're inferior because of their race. ​You're right, it isn't racist or sexist to call someone an idiot, but that's not what's happening here. There's hardly any solid evidence of Pao doing all these horrible things people claim. Not to mention the constant comparisons to Chairman Mao, the various forms of "fuck this cunt", and Reddit's great track record with women and minorities. It just seems like people were hopping on the Ellen Pao hate bandwagon. It's just too easy. I'll tone it down, if you want to.

Sure, there are some people who complain about the most trivial things, but there's legit criticism in this thread.
