  1. End of year, may as well talk about my favorite games of 2017. Didn't play a whole lot of games that came out this year, so I'll keep the list short. Don't really feel like making the reasons I put them in the order I did for too long, so I'll keep those short too.

    4) Shadow of War

My list of 2017 games is so short that I basically have to put this one in when I rather not. Flawed, basically an Assassin's Creed/Batman mix like the previous one so the gameplay isn't particularly stellar, but it ticked the LoTR lover inside me (when it wasn't bending the lore into a pretzel), and I really liked the concept of the Nemesis System, so I let it slide.

    3) Nier Automata

Liked the story, characters, backstory, music, themes. Shame about the gameplay itself being pretty dull.

    2) Super Mario Odyssey

Had a blast with this one. Loved collecting the moons, except for the ones where no effort is required to get them. Recommend fully if you have a switch.

    1) Sonic Mania

The only game in this list which I was truly excited for, and it did not disappoint. Love it and I can replay it for basically forever. Good job Taxman, Stealth, and Pagoda West Games.

Fuck you SEGA for delaying it two weeks for PC less than a week before launch just to implement Denuvo.

Its not a fantastic list of games, but I don't have a lot to work with either, so take it or leave it.

  2. Whatever redeeming qualities the multiplayer had years ago has been overtaken by the stupid amount of in game inflation that has occurred. Everything fun is 1-4 million and the best ways of making money in game basically turns the game into an unsatisfying chore. All new cool features are locked behind buildings that cost 2 million dollars average (moving up to 3-4 mill now), and the only people who can really enjoy the game are the people who either spend stupid amounts of real cash on it, or the people who have gotten hacked dollars ranging in the millions. Not even playing with friends improves the experience that much these days. If you transfer your character over from the 360 and he already has stupid amounts of cash, maybe you could have fun in that environment.

The newest update added an orbital laser that costs at least 3 million to own, and costs 500k-750k just to fire once per day. Perhaps that can give a good example of how bad its gotten.

GTA V is 60% off, wondering if I should get it now or wait until the Christmas sale.

It would probably be fine getting it now. During sales, it usually only goes to around 50% + a shark card added in, but its not worth it because mulitiplayer is pretty garbage. Besides, 60% is around the lowest its ever been cut, so i'm willing to bet you'd be pretty safe buying it now.

  4. I have this weird relationship with the Gen 5 games. Like I so desperately want to love them (good sprite work, some of the new Pokemon are really fun,  like the legendaries, etc.), but for whatever reason, I simply cannot get invested in them. When I first played White, I took a 2 month hiatus at one point, where I just wasn't feeling it. White 2 was even worse, where I took a 5 year hiatus after Ghetsis kicked my ass one time and only just recently decided to tie that up. I don't get it at all. I think X&Y, ORAS, and S&M are worse games, and yet I managed to spend hours on those without a hiatus. I'm curious if anyone has similar feelings toward Gen 5, because I'm wondering if there's something about it that makes me bored when playing it.

  5. Completely frank, I don't know how anyone gets anything out of those two letters, and I especially don't know why it sends people into a rage. Just ignore them if you don't care for it.

I don't say anything because it really doesn't mean anything to me to say gg or not.
