"Hmm. I thought you would be...bigger." he says in a thick Russian accent.
"But do not worry. I am prepared to help you both achieve greatness! I am Monday Night At 5 O'Clock Wizard, and since I have been a Time Wizard the longest, I am clearly fit to be the leader of this group. Well, I haven't exactly used my powers yet, but I am sure that they are incredibly powerful because of my incredible strength."
"Monday Night seems to work on the premise that it's a conventional week. For all he knows, it could have been the Monday after.
I suppose if I'm anyone, I'm the scholar of the bunch. I've got like three English degrees, I might as well." -

Having been drawn together as Time Wizards are wont to do, Monday Night, Wednesday Morning, and Tuesday Afternoon have arranged to meet in a well-known local bar, the Porthole, to figure out just what the heck they're going to do.
Your location is Portland, Maine. Thedate and time is Thursday the 26th, 2016.
The bar is busy with tourists, locals of all flavors, and strange and exciting people of all kinds. The Time Wizards sit down at a table in the corner. It's surrounded by the chatter of the other patrons.
How exactly did we organize this, anyway? Were we just pals before this?

Got any, DeGroot?
Nope.

Very well. I hence name my music as this!

Depending on when it happens, I should be available.
I'm interested.
I also would be interested in doing a Call of Cthulhu-styled RPG on SubSpuf, if we ever do that.

Neither did I, but apparently the Sega Genesis was 9-bit. Though that does explain the difference in graphics between the Genesis and the SNES.

Alright, progress update of sorts.
I've figured out the classes, the plot, some of the items, and I'm in the process of figuring out of what music I can actually use.
My question to you lot: Which seems better for a JRPG-esque color palette: 8-bit(NES), 9-bit(Sega Genesis), or 15-bit(SNES)? Currently I'm entertaining 9-bit, but I'd love to hear your guys' opinions.
(From left to right: 8-bit, 9-bit and 15-bit color palettes)

How does, ladies n' gents, your friendly neighbourhood DeGroot here. I've had an idea and I now want to capitalize on it. I have a few months to spare coming up so I'm going to do something with it.
Its working title is "Strike Up The Band" for now(Shortened to SUTB).
The Concept
SpoilerSo SUTB is conceptually a traditional 8-bit Turn-based RPG(Similar to Fire Emblem or Undermeme) with a music-themed art style. The concept is simple: You lead a party of personified instruments(similar to the look of Skullgirls' Big Band, without the trenchcoat); At the start of the game, you construct your party of 4, from 9 selectable classes to seek out objects of great magical power, riches, the usual.
The Classes, equipment, and combat
SpoilerIn total, there are nine classes - Ranger, Barbarian, Paladin, Spellsword, Knight, Cleric, Rogue, Nightblade, and Chronomancer. Each one has its own abilities, attack speeds, resistances and weaknesses. That I haven't figured out yet.
Each player can equip a class-specific weapon(damage multiplier), an all-class music piece(base damage) and armor. A player can technically go through the entire game without armour, if they're skilled enough.
Players also get a wide variety of single-use buffs and healing potions, standard RPG fare.
Combat is the old-fashioned turn-based combat, with a twist: At the top of the combat menu is a bar line with button prompts, similar to Guitar Hero. Press the buttons in the correct order, do more damage or defend from an attack. The formula for damage is [Class Base Damage + Music Piece Base Damage] x weapon multiplier. The World
SpoilerThe world of Orchestralia is a disc that the player will be traversing in a counter-clockwise fashion, from the west and ending in the north, in the inhospitable Podium Mountains. Geography includes, but is not limited to forest, mountain ranges, desert, and caves. Each separate biome has a differing style of music to it, E.G. the flatlands are dominated by Marching Band clans, etc.
Tech Specs
SpoilerThe plan is to use the same engine Undertale used, GameMaker. Music will be a variety of genres, but mostly jazz classics such as Take Five, Caravan, Take The A-Train, redone in the limited NES/SNES music style with FamiTracker.
I think I've covered everything so far. Major setback will be getting my characters on paper, as I can't draw.
Thoughts?

A lot of webcomic authors have been doing a comic vaguely along the same guidelines(Cyanide and hapiness, Deathbulge, Lunarbaboon, etc)

1 hour ago, Verumae said:if wu de is truly that important to you (and it seems like it is) then it seems you have quite the justification for getting this tattoo, but I think there are a few questions:
what does wu de say about tattoos?
what do your instructors and/or superiors think about it? not that they're necessarily going to be right, but could this be seen as a failure to display humility?
are your arms really the best place to get this tattoo? what about just down your back or something? you should only get a tattoo for yourself, which means that you shouldn't care what other people think, but you should also still be able to appreciate its value even if nobody else can see it
assuming you go forward with getting it, is this the form you would want it in? I have to agree that simplified seems like a questionable choice for something that is traditional by its nature. you should also make sure that the characters you're using are accurate and the same ones codified in whatever philosophy it is that you subscribe to, and not just similar ideas
do the catgirl maids have dicks?
Wu De doesn't really have a say in it, really. Body Modifications are only frowned upon in Christianity, for some reason.
My superiors are either supportive, indifferent or have tattoos themselves. All things considered, it's no more arrogant than to have them on your wall - It shows your following to them, it's not like I'm saying "My moral code's better than yours, cunt".
I decided on my forearms for an important reason: They're always in my line of vision. Getting this is reminder because I was a horrible person ten years ago. It's who I am now. It's who I have to be, always.
I've since converted the characters to Traditional, as well. And I'm certain of their use.
Only if you believe.

Mister New Vegasyour friendly neighbourhood DeGroot.Recently I counted my tenth year as a martial artist and it was a little bit of a sentimental time blah blah blah importance of moving forward yadda yadda yadda.
As part of events unfolding, I've been considering getting outside forearm tats of a Martial Artist moral code that I follow as close as I can, called Wu De, or Martial Morality.
The code is specially important to me as it's a reminder as to who I was and should have been, who I am now, and who I have to be from here on out.
Were I to get said tats, it would look like this:
Left arm would be, without the translation in parenthesise:
謙恭 (Humility)
尊重 (Respect)
義 (Righteousness)
信任的 (Trust)
忠貞 (Loyalty)Whilst the right arm would be, also sans translation:
將 (Will)
續航力 (Endurance)
毅力 (Perseverance)
耐心 (Patience)
勇氣 (Courage)Thoughts? Insults? Questions pertaining to the fucking of catgirl maids?
