  1. Just got babby's first phishing e-mail. The terminology used for our passwords and IT department were all wrong (in fact two different incorrect names for the IT department were used), the site linked didn't even attempt to match the proper color scheme or other graphical elements of the official sites, had several mispellings and all words lower cased. But to top it off it was sent by a random Freshman student using his institutional e-mail address. Forwarded it to the appropriate part of IT, got the response "yes this is a spam e-mail, but this is not really a of IT at this time." So the sad thing is that babby's first phishing e-mail may actually work.

What I would love to see is for EA to say "We've listened to your concerns and agree that this in game credit system makes more sense for a free to play game than for one that costs 60 dollars up front. Because of this, we have decided to make the game Free to Play starting December 26. Players that purchased the game before that date will receive 60 dollars worth of in-game credit to compensate their purchase." Then on the 26th, after everyone who bought the game already spent their bonus bucks, they add new blatant pay to win star cards again. Maybe they add a ridiculously expensive Yoda or something too. Would be the perfect way to blatantly rip everyone off while still pretending to be listening to customer complaints.

And if people didn't waste so much money on crap freemium mobile games, EA never would have dared to attempt to use the same model for a AAA game. But, alas, casuals are gonna casual.

I've hunted down SNES games and can say that the SNES classic is definitely cheaper than buying the actual games. SNES games are firmly in the $3 or less category (for crap) or $20 or more (for stuff people actually want), but the games on the SNES classic are largely in the second category. For example Yoshi's Island and Megaman X go for about $30, Star Fox, F-Zero and Super Metroid for about $20 (this is for pre-owned; for new quadruple those prices). Super Mario RPG goes for about $50. Thus you can see pretty easily that getting all 20 games (since you can't get Star Fox 2) would run you more than $80, or even the $150 you might spend if you get it from a higher priced scalper.

It runs okay for the most part, but some parts (particularly the Sector Y and Fortuna bosses, as well as the later forms of the route 3 venom boss) cause it to chug pretty noticeably.

Too bad Hecatomb never had its fourth set. The set would have had Yawgmoth as a god card. Would be cool to straight up cast Yawgmoth, and I'm guessing his abilities would have had something to do with stealing souls so it would have been fun to figure out what the heck that meant in the context of MtG.

It remains to be seen if they will top the ultimate Un-Card: Blast from the Past

You still were paying $2.49 for a 44% chance of getting something nearly worthless. In the long run the only thing really worth the cost were unusual hats, but you had an expected cost of $249 for those.
  10. I was reading some stories about Pythagoras, and it finally hit me that he was just the ancient world's version of Chuck Norris. There's even a story about how a snake bit Pythagoras, and then the snake died.

In other news, Telltale apparently laid off a quarter of their staff. But not to worry! Minecraft Story Mode will still be completed!

Stands themselves are pretty well done, but Part 3 where they are introduced is really only mediocre. The problem is that 90% of the arc is just "we are slightly closer to Dio's lair in Egypt and oh no there's another Stand User trying to stop us!" Additionally stands become so important that the fact that Dio is a vampire is almost an afterthought, despite the ridiculous power level of vampires in the first two parts. I also got really annoyed by the fact that Joseph barely uses the ripple at all. It's implied that he refrains from using it since the only vampire he fights is Dio and that only happens at the very end, but the first two parts showed that there were plenty of uses of ripple energy beyond fighting vampires (many of which Joseph himself came up with, and one trick in particular with the surface tension of water would have been useful during a certain gambling match). In Part Four things get better, partially because the main villain gets involved in the story before the very end, and partially because the heroes spend a lot of time just dicking around town. It's a lot more interesting to see Josuke try to cheat at a dice game by using an Alien, just to piss off his rival, or use a combination of stand powers to try to win the lottery, than it is to see Jotaro face down the fifteenth stand user servant of Dio.

The thing is, after the fifth or so stand user of the week, you'll be wondering when stands will stop being a thing.
  14. I really don't understand why it doesn't spawn with full charge. I was sure that was a glitch when it came out.
  15. I just realized that Myst has been remade on three separate occasions (Masterpiece edition, Real Myst, and Real Myst Masterpiece edition) but Riven hasn't been remade a single time (unless you count the DVD release, but I'm pretty sure that just put all the files on one disc). EDIT: That's not counting console ports, of which there are multiple for Myst but none for Riven.
  16. At first I thought you meant mods for the sequel to Myst.

Best OPs of the Last 40 years.

Best ED would actually be a much harder list, as series tend to have more and they tend to be more experimental.
