Also one time I stayed awake until 5 AM reading a Pokemon fic in which the main character (whose name is the same as the author's) takes Brendan's place in the Hoenn storyline and ends up falling in love with his Kirlia and eventually ends up marrying her and doing the nasty a lot. thrown in is a bunch of shitty religious undertones about people and Pokemon getting together and people being angry, and apparently part two also has some weird supernatural shit. Also included is a bunch of Dom/Sub shit, a scene in which the Gardevoir kills three people and then she and the trainer just go off to Wattson's house to ♥♥♥♥ without a second thought, and psychic bonds formed by marrying a Pokemon. Also Flannery married a Blaziken. That was a horrible yet hilarious night. Proceed at your own risk.

So I guess never enjoying things fully, being cynical, and breaking the wonderful things about being alive into bland scientific chunks of pessimistic snark qualifies as more intelligent? You don't have to see things "realistically" to know what's going on in the world. Why sure, happiness, the mind, soul, and free will can be disproved or shown to just be some hormones or synapses one's brain, sometimes you just have to look at things in an idealized way. When for the whole happiness just being a neural response or whatever, ♥♥♥♥ that noise. I'm content with my life and I know it. Does that mean I'm less intelligent? I just want to say that there's a bit of a rant coming, and I promise this is the only time I will act like a jerk towards you, and it's not really directed at you, this is more my beef with a condition I see in a lot of people: don't-want-to-be-happyitis. This is also going to be free writing, so I will get off-track and likely make very convoluted points, but I don't care. Raz, your mode of thinking, while not incorrect at all, is one that frustrates me. You often take a really pessimistic view on life and things in it. Maybe it's from your love of psychology, maybe it's your style of humor, maybe it's something that I don't know about, but it really irks me. It's not just you either, a bunch of people on MLM and irl have the same or similar views- that the world is a bleak place. Yes, there is horrible stuff in the world, society may have some crappy parts to it, and certain parts of life might be really hard to get through, but does that mean the only satisfaction one can gain from it it smug satisfaction in knowing that it's bad? I'm reminded of that Game Anticipation thing, where you're only boned if the game you were excited for is horrible and you're disappointed, where the majority of pleasure comes from being a smug bastard and not even getting excited for it and reveling in your correct pessimism. ♥♥♥♥ING BULLSHIT. This negative mode of thinking is flawed IMO. Not getting excited because the possibility of disappointment exists? Stupid. Resigning spidery to being horrible because of a few bad people? Asstastically dumb. Hating the whole of humanity for a few reasons? No. It may be because I've had a pretty good life, but I know that the world, humanity, and life are all glorious things. Love, happiness, and pleasure, while sometimes costly or rare, are what make life worth living. Shit happens, but one has to power through and remain as positive as possible. It's just... Is having a realistic and intelligent worldview requires me to see the world as a horrible place, more bad than good, maybe I don't want to have a realistic view of life. Maybe I want to base it off of people like my teacher, Mr. Eller, who helped me ace the AP English exam, or my Grandma, who always has a kind word for me. Maybe I want to smile at a story on random acts of kindness instead of grimacing at a grisly murder-suicide. Do I want to love my life, be thankful and blissful because of my travels, natural abilities, and beautiful friends and family or do I want to base my worldview off of the problems in the world? Heck, I could let my missing father and incidents of being sexually abused drag me into depression, but ♥♥♥♥ that I want to be happy. So maybe I want to just go along with my own little world in which things are pretty ok, but that doesn't mean I have to look at things and say "Well, it's a crock of shit, there's no point in it," to be able to understand what's going on. Yes, there are problems, yes, things could be a lot better, but we have the capacity to make it better. Things get better naturally a lot of the time too. Not everything has flaws. An old pair of curtains might be ratty and motheaten, but one can take time to note how brilliant the blue is and how soft the material is. Now I'm going to go remember a beautiful sunset and read some webcomics, because those are things that make me happy.
