Which is my point. In recent years (centuries) there has been more blood shed over trade routes and perceived slights than there have been straight up "KILL THE INFIDELS!" type wars.

The key word in my original post was MORE. He's bringing up the Crusades (1200-1300s I believe?). I can take a Century. Not QUITE a war, but still.

More people have gone to war over money and petty insults than for a religion (recently). One could argue that a concept of individuality is impeding our progress toward a utopian society as well. But we agree on one thing. Fuck Santorum. I thought so.

The consumption definitely exists. But we hardly manufacture ANYTHING any more. If they were JUST anyone that was caught committing a murder in jail would be executed on the spot. ESPECIALLY the murder of a guard.

Yeah. I agree with Rammite though. There could be a God. Even THE God of Christianity and all that. Doesn't mean I have to like the religion that grew up around him. I USED to have fun going to church on Sundays (and youth group on Wednesdays), but after a while I started asking questions and my pastor was like "That's a good idea, but the literal interpretation of the Bible yadda yadda" and eventually I gave up trying to reconcile science and Christianity (especially Baptist christianity, my only real religious experience). I went through a phase where I was all "RAGE God doesn't exist nub STFU" but then I was like "Well...how do I know that exactly?" and kind of mellowed out on it. Still infuriates me to talk to my grandma and aunt. Nanee: "We need a president who'll sit up in the White House and pray for our country" Me: "I'd like a president that actually DOES something. Sitting up in the White House and praying won't fix anything."
