​Basically this. The game itself might not be "dead", there are plenty of people still playing it, but the core community is dwindling by the day, and one could argue much of it is already gone. The corpse might shamble forward and groan "Haaaaaatss..." every now and then, but the working brain and the soul of the game are dead and buried. I played TF2 from late 2008 to early 2014. From '08 to '11 I played it on the Xbox. Now, that game might have a fucking MINUSCULE community, but it exists. Most of the people who played it knew how to play it well, and I had tons of fun with it, and the majority of my Xbox friends list is populated by people I met playing TF2, some few I still keep up with (them having moved to Steam). I joined SPUF in August 2011, roughly the same day I first installed TF2 on my very first computer (yes, I never owned a computer before I turned 18), and despite all the assholes that populated that forum (which I quickly became one of, by many's estimation), you could tell there was a camaraderie there, a shared joy in a game everybody liked playing despite their individual gripes about the specifics of some of it. Here we are, four years later, and that just seems completely gone. I still lurk SPUF every now and then, but it's in a sad, pitiful state. Potato is even worse. I last played TF2 on January 1st...but only to log in long enough to get the Christmas gifts just in case I wanted to come back to it. Before that it was maybe June I had actually played it, and March before that when I first "quit playing" TF2. The game was just soulless. There was no excitement to it. Nearly a year of not really playing and the majority of the community was still worse than me, and I was garbage. There's no skill left anywhere but the comp scene, and most of the well known members of that have drifted off since late 2013 to 2014 as well, along with most of the prominent video makers like Stabby Stabby and STAR_ (I mean, I fucking hate STAR_ but at least he made videos of TF2 that people watched). Almost nobody talks any more. Not even text chat beyond "Hurr durr buy my shit". You may as well be playing with fucking bots. Valve doesn't talk to the community any more. The update that came out today is proof of that. Just *PFFFFT* here's a fucking update. No fanfare, no interesting teasers, just "Yeah, we got bored and actually made something, here ya go". So what's the point? There's no challenge, there's no community beyond small pockets of people worth playing with (like the FastCo. server), there's no real developer support...why play it?

RIP Lt. Idiot "Stacks" Cube, he died due massive RNG bullshit, but helped Cpl. Doktor "Demon" Dakka get promoted to Sergeant by getting revenge on the never-ending horde of fucking Mutons.

Bloody Stream is good. Finally got around to finishing Part 2 of the Jojo anime and now I can't stop listening to Sono Chi No Sadame Help Or do I even want help

Having a hard time getting and keeping a Sniper at all, unfortunately. Squaddie Doktor Dakka may change that.

After much finagling I decided to just give up trying to get the assault on the Alien Base to turn out like I wanted. The sole survivors of the mission were Sergeant (now Lieutenant) 1970 "Vandal" Corvette and Corporal (now Sergeant) Idiot "Stacks" Cube. Squaddie Robertson fell when, despite almost everyone being at full HP, everyone being in cover, and the attack on her from the Cyberdisc Cannon MISSING and doing nothing but destroying a piece of background equipment, Sergeant Corvette Panicked and nailed her in the back of the head with a laser shotgun. Corporal Cube then shot Lieutenant Doop "Diesel" Doopliss in the face with his Assault Rifle for three damage as well. Lt. Name was the casualty of the RNG deciding 98% to-hit wasn't good enough, causing him to miss the 1 HP Cyberdisc Cannon directly next to him. Doopliss fell when a last Cyberdisc Cannon shot her at point blank range. For an amount of damage an extra 3 HP would have meant survival. The cannon was dropped on the following round, and the base assault was concluded.

Hey! I remember when I actually saw that on the news a few years back. There was a whole thing (if I'm remembering right) about how PB&J was racist because it was the "meal of the poor" as far as free and reduced price school lunches went or something.

They were plenty competent but when you have to chase a big nasty flying saucer thing that does like 7 damage a hit (when most of my dudes have like 9 HP) in the hopes of getting directly adjacent to it with no cover to use an item that DOESN'T EVEN WORK AAAAAAA

Mission Report: Everyon KIA again, but I'm authorizing use of the time machine on this one because that damn Dr. Vahel is the one who got every killed by saying she wanted a Hyperdisc Cannon to be captured. Lt. Name and Squaddie Rbertson gave their lives getting Lt. Corvette close enough to use the Arc Thrower, only to realize THE FUCKING THING DOESN'T WORK. On the plus side Doop "Diesel" Doopliss and 1970 "Vandal" Corvette racked up a respectable 17 alien kills between them before being slaughtered. Highlight of the mission was a Hyperdisc Cannon setting down IMMEDIATELY next to Doopliss (who had 1 HP left), whipping out its plasma laser thingy...and missing.

I didn't say you should, but it's not like Steam has a limited stock that's going to disappear if you wait a week.

Due to new advancements in armor technology, casualties are down among all but the most inexperienced soldiers on routine missions. We'll see how they fare tomorrow in: THE ALIEN BASE!!! Sergeant 1970 'Vandal' Corvette is currently my favorite, because the Assault class is rad as shit. Lieutenant Name shaved his head to fit his new moniker better.

Current status: All is well. Doopliss has earned the Heavy class and the men have taken to calling her 'Diesel', because that's what she must run on the way she rolls over enemies. France has withdrawn from the X-Com project. Filthy cowardly frogs.

​I gave you sunglasses. And a hat! In other news, Sergeant Witty Name has earned his nickname: Mr. Clean.

Open to suggestions for change, since you're one of the Rookies that survived. Doop and Corv are promoted to Heavy. Cube and Expresate died at the hands of Floater critical and Thin Man poison respectively.

The new squad. We had a shortage of male clone stock, so females have been utilized for some members.

It's stuff like that which makes me glad to be back in the place where ice screams in agony and contemplates its poor life choices as it falls through the atmosphere and meets the stifling, greenhouse-like heat that is the Florida air.

Is that supposed to be hail? I didn't get that until Gigolo mentioned the car. I thought they were those little puffball fungi that sometimes pop up all over your yard and spit out little clouds of smoke when you step on them.

​The reviews I read boil down to either: -Framerate issues make it unplayable (but the gameplay is great!) -The Batmobile sucks. -I'm bitching because I got my game FOR FREE and it doesn't have a pre-order DLC I can pick up for $1.99 later. =;( I foresee the framerate issues being patched within a week, and then, as the reviews keep saying "The controls are great and responsive and the combat is fun and the story is pretty good."
