Rynjin Stein, please. Since apparently I can only make 1 name change in a 180 day period (I'll use that to change it BACK).

I hate change as much as the next guy, but yeah this is basically just an upgrade to our existing platform. We'd need to do it eventually, may as well do it sooner so we have longer to acclimatize.

Capaldi is great, I'm still a bit iffy on Moffat's writing.

So you missed the first five pages of people saying this has to be a joke. We've said that about a lot of the things he's tried to do over the past year. This is the only one so far which has turned out to be one. It's like an abusive parent. He beats you at every turn, until you flinch whenever he raises his hand. So he goes and rears his hand back and then laughs when you flinch "Oh I wasn't going to hit you, why are you flinching? It was just a joke.". This is that, in forum form.

So, Cmdr, did you learn anything from this? I'm asking you seriously. You propose a ridiculous, radical change to the forum's structure, a total move/re-model, with you doing nothing but spouting corporate speak and vague platitudes. Nobody finds this at all out of character for you. Do you fully understand the implications of that? Nobody was surprised by this. This parody of yourself is what everyone ACTUALLY SEES YOU AS. Because it's very similar to how you've acted in the past. This, this right here is, in a nutshell, why everyone is always so pissed at you. The fact that it was a "joke" this time is irrelevant. Well, no it's not. It's a joke in especially poor taste because you obviously KNOW that at least part of the community lives in fear of you one day deciding to make some sweeping change nobody asked for, that was discussed with no one that will alienate some or all of the people who frequent this forum. Enough is enough with this shit. You said a while back that you were willing to stand down from an administrative position if that was the community's will. Do you still stand by that? Because I personally have lost what little faith I had in you with this. I'm sure at least some of the people here agree. You're not a bad person, Cmdr, I like having you around...but you being in charge of things just makes me nervous.

Seriously when have any of the jokes you guys have done EVER done anything but piss people off. Staaaaahp.

Oh yeah I forgot it's Xbonely. NVM.

Reach is the most fun for multiplayer, swiftly followed by 3 (IMO 3 had better Custom games, but I had way more fun with Reach's matchmaking). Best campaign goes to ODST, Ghost best vehicle by far, at least most consistently. I miss the Chopper. DMR best normal weapon, Energy Sword best power weapon. Plasma grenade best weapon in general. IIRC the Plasma grenade was the weapon I had the 3rd most kills with in Reach (first being Melee, second DMR). It's just so rewarding to use. I had a bunch of fun videos I made of lulzy plasma grenade kills (my personal favorite was a random grenade I tossed at a guy who immediately afterwards was Assassinated by a teammate. Or, he tried anyway "Killjoy! BEEE-TRAYAL!". At like the very last second, it looked real cool.) We should all get the Master Chief Collection and play.

I'm hard pressed to find anything I like about this forum. There's nothing in particular I hate (given 5 minutes of use), but "I don't hate it I guess" doesn't justify the move to me. So, in short, without using deflections and utter bullshit buzzwords like "for the future!" and "PROGRESS!!!", Cmdr explain to me why this is a good idea. Not why it's not a bad idea. Not why you think we might get used to it after a while. Give me concrete, detailed reasons why you think this is a GOOD step forward, not just something that isn't as terrible as it looks at first blush. Is it cheaper? Is it more modular? Is IPS imploding and it's time to jump ship? TL;DR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlpRBLkgcBo

If you're seriously serious about this forum looking like Reddit I'm going to track you down and do unspecified things to you Cmdr. I don't use Reddit for a reason. I DESPISE its layout.

I believe, from what we've discussed, we don't have a choice, this is what the new version of the host is going to be like. That said, I hate the "context rich" format, so if there's any possible way we could NOT do that that'd be great.

For the most part, 1-3 only had subtle changes, different weapons being nerfed or buffed, new weapons and vehicles being introduced (like the Needler, one of my personal favorites. Don't think it was in CE anyway). Reach introduced a slew of new mechanics (Armor abilities being the biggest) and more new weapons than any game up to that point I believe, adding a whole new set of weaponry for Elites to use. 4 took those changes further, and added a whole new category of weaponry for the Forerunner enemies and such which functioned differently from everything else to a significant degree. -
Wish I could.

I have two great L4D stories. In one, I lag behind the group as a horde is coming along, and just miss my window to run past them, with very low health. Decide "Fuck it, I'm not getting anywhere standing around" and leap into the horde, expecting to be immediately subsumed by the mass of zombies. Due either to actual design or weird Source physics, or plain dumb luck I manage to walk on top of the zombie's heads and get enough of a lead to flee the scene. Second, playing Versus, someone spawns as a Tank just as we're coming out of the elevator to the top floor of the hospital. So he just kinda appears nearby, sprints towards everyone from around a corner, and smacks the Zoe player. She flies right through the open window/unfinished segment, and immediately dies. He immediately spins around, smacks a forklift, and hits all 3 of the remaining survivors. Instant kill. Tank victory in less than 3 seconds.

TBQH I could give a shit less about the Halo competitive community. I thought it was a fun game even without the MLGproness of Halo 3 (which I DESPISED playing competitively...admittedly because I started playing a couple of years after it came out, so was constantly berated for not being good enough). -

The thing is, previous Halos had many of the same problems, if not all at once. The BR was the undisputed master weapon for quite a few games, so the DMR suddenly being a better weapon than the alternatives wasn't really an issue. People were just butthurt that the BR wasn't on top any more. I wasn't, since I already loved the DMR. Likewise, the AR has always been better than the Plasma Rifle, and was likewise better than the whatsawhosit Rifle (which sucked in Reach too). Reach is the one that introduced people starting with Plasma grenades. Armor abilities were likewise introduced in Reach. Despite most times it being Armor Lock or go home, nobody abandoned the game in droves. So, near as I can tell, Halo 4 had all the same problems as Reach, and no more. But people abandoned the game in droves because it was a rookie developer owned by Microsoft making the same mistakes (assuming they are mistakes, I thought Reach was great), and it's hip to hate on Microsoft. -
For what it's worth, I didn't mind this one, but IMO we shouldn't be changing things when we already agreed not to change that specific thing.

IIRC there's a remake of SaGa 2 for the 3DS. That's one of my favorite RPGs of all time, still holds up well today on the Gameboy Color. Edit: Well, it's for the regular DS anyway.

Seems more like a fickle audience than a problem with the design. The only things you really unlocked (after like rank 10 or so, which takes, what, 10 games?) was new armors. The perks were nice, but generally unnecessary. The core gameplay was all the same, many things improved (though a few not...stop nerfing the Energy Sword pls). The campaign was one of the more fun ones (I'd rank them ODST > 3 > 4 = Reach >2 > 1). Loadouts were one of the major improvements IMO, since you didn't have to fight people over your weapon of choice, or get rocked because you're using the AR instead of BR or DMR. I'd say the only major gripe I had with it was map design on some of the multiplayer maps. It wasn't as good as Reach, IMO, but as good in its own way as 3.
