Death Note has a bit more short term planning to spruce up the long term plans. Basically what that means is that whereas Code Geass has a lot of "I'm plotting for something to happen 5 episodes from now (which means fate will give me the middle finger and fuck it all up)", Death Note has a lot more "I'm planning for something to happen 5 episodes from now, but I need to execute these 3 plans before that happens or it all comes crumbling down (inevitable success, 'Exactly as planned!')."

Pffft. I could make paper airplanes that did that when I was 10. About time these fancy schmancy engineers got it working with all their high tech engines and stuff to help them out. Amateurs. -
One of the Epic Yarn episodes.

Because people are posting Suggestions in the Bugs thread and it's clogging it up, or in TIAM and they're getting lost, overlooked, or missed. Post those here. Things I've seen: -More themes (one that looks more like the old forum, preferably) And, uh, that's all I can remember currently.

It's almost like Arin had a hand in designing this game. "Complexity bad!"
-
I can't be too mad at them on that one, I got stuck for a minute on that same place too, it's hard to tell why you're bouncing back because it happens so darn fast.
-
The problem isn't that they're "taking their time". That's not what they're doing. They're ignoring very clear directions on what to do and where to go, and then blaming their rampant stupidity on the game design, because Arin tries his damnedest to be an unlikeable prick whenever he opens his mouth about a game made in the past decade.

Aaaaand I just watched the new Wind Waker episode, and it killed my fun immediately. LEARN TO READ OR GO BACK TO FIRST GRADE YOU FUCKING MORON, GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Sweet. I like Marth. And no, I don't play tournaments. I just A.) Like guys with swords, and B.) Like people who can counterattack things. I used to like Ganondorf soooo much but the one thing I hate about Brawl is that they took him from "Pretty slow, but not unreasonably so, and packs a hell of a wallop" to "I will wreck your shit. If I ever get this frozen molasses out of my veins and replace it with real blood again. Unfortunately it would take me the next 1000 years to walk to my car, so that may be a while."

Most things done by Funimation are good (most, not all. There are some real retch inducers, especially from their early days). True, they re-use a lot of actors, but so do most companies. Yeah, some are better than others, but the stuff that has a real following usually gets a good treatment. I Like One Piece's dub (Luffy's voice definitely takes a bit of getting used to, but whatever). Fullmetal Alchemist's dub (both the original and Brotherhood) is great. Darker Than Black is another good one. Might be easier to name the Funimation dubs I don't like, actually. I really like Yu Yu Hakusho's dub, despite some hilariously weird choices for one-off characters. Fairy Tail's dub is...eh. Then again, the anime adaptation is...eh anyway. DBZ and DBZ Kai are better than Ocean's attempt. Still not that great. It's kinda funny because Team Fourstar's impressions of teh characters are usually better IMO than the official. Most of the lesser known things they do definitely do not get the A treatment. If it doesn't have above a certain threshold of sales or views in Japan, it's a grab bag. Ocean is hit or miss. Black Lagoon and Death Note's dubs were excellent. Dragon Ball Z's...not so much. And those two do most of the popular anime that get dubbed. I don't really know any other companies I can pull off the top of my head and match to stuff unless someone says "Who did X or Y?". The thing is, it's MUCH harder to recognize flaws in a language you don't speak. You reflexively chalk it up to a quirk of the language, or something that the singer does that's popular over there...until you start to learn more about it. When I was in middle school, I loved the way the Spanish language sounded, and really got into Latin pop and Spanish soap operas for a while. 5 years of Spanish later...I don't like many of the same things. Because the novelty is gone, the language barrier is broken, and I can think "My god, I speak Spanish better than some native speakers, what the fuck is this".

And in the majority of cases, acting is not SUPPOSED to sound like natural, conversational English. Or natural, conversational Japanese. You don't REALLY think Japanese people talk like they do in Manga (and by extension the anime adaptations), do you? The dialogue is picked as much for its cadence as it is for the meaning. It's like Shakespeare. People didn't speak Old English in iambic pentameter. It's written that way because it translates to an entertainment medium better, and ends up being more entertaining. And past the age of the voice acting ghetto, this is not the norm for competent studios, and if you actually understood the language, and how it flows, less competent Japanese studios will sound the same. Quality is not cut across the lines of the language barrier. If you think it is, you are deluding yourself. Remember kids, context is important.

Oh pfft. No reason to go hating someone just because you vehemently disagree with them on something. Just call them names and move on.
-
Really? Because I've only read like 3 chapters/pages of it. I must have found the synopsis and just posted it because it sounded cool or something (that's what got me started on it).

I don't know what people's obsession is with listening to people blather on in a language they can't understand. How do you know it's better? Voice acting quality is based on inflection, timing, word choice: NONE of which you get if you don't understand the language (which I assume you don't since you mention subtitles later). You get NOTHING from listening to a work in its original language if you don't understand said language. The only reason you can say "the original is better" is if you like the voice of the original actors...which is an entirely subjective quality, and still means you can't shove your elitist bullshit down other people's throats. It's your preference. That's fine. That does not mean the alternative is always "awful". And my excuse for not downloading something is pretty simple: Why would I want to wait to watch the show I decided to watch, just to get slightly (if that) better quality on video and sound, that I'll just have to delete to make room for more stuff later? It requires me to be in the same room and devoting my entire attention to the show, which means I can't do my usual routine of cooking, cleaning, or doing work while I watch.

I really need to start reading this again. I haven't read any manga in a while actually. A lot of the ones I WAS reading are over now (Fullmetal Alchemist, Hellsing, etc.) and I finished them, or I just stopped for no reason (Kenichi, JoJo, One Piece and so on).

Quite honestly I thought you were already a member. We have so many people that post for a day and then never again.

That's cute, but I'm really curious as to what they're saying to each other. -

Dammit Goosebumps Horror Land is actually a pretty decent game
-
What are you guys talking about the voicelines are hilarious

Maybe we should try a bunch of smaller games? Like it said, 12 players is unsupported. There will be issues. But maybe 2 6 man games (with some NPCs?) or 3 4 man games?
