Not within the bounds of this hypothetical. "You are guaranteed to survive in all cases". To be honest, that's always been my philosophy. If you get blackout drunk and can't remember the party, what's the point? What is an experience you don't remember? You have fond memories of times you have fun, and that's the only evidence you ever had fun at all, really. So if you don't remember it, what was the point? It's the same as if you learn of some new concept and then forget about it. You may as well have never been told it at all. I also consider being totally amnesiac as in most depictions in fiction to be essentially dead. Are you really YOU without any of your memories or life experiences? I don't think so, anyway.

But it's not relevant if you don't remember it. You stub your toe today, and if you've forgotten by tomorrow it may as well not have happened. There's no lingering pain, you don't remember it happening, it's just a blip of your life that is now gone forever. Options 4/5 are even more thorough than that. You're not even going to remember it the next time you "stub your toe" because the memory isn't just SUPPRESSED, it's gone entirely. There's no time passed so from your perspective you're there one second and the next you suddenly have superpowers. There is no evidence of the torture and no memory to sully the experience.

Spiderman-level is nothing to sneeze at. More than raw power (which he has, lifting 16 tons is pretty grand), his powers have a bit of variety to them (super agility/stamina/strength, limited precognition, various mobility powers) so you're not just stuck with the "Luke Cage package" (strong, durable, nothin' else). 1, 4, and 5 are the best options. 1 is the shortest and the latter two may as well have never happened at all. If you don't and can't remember it (and there are no lasting or permanent injuries) then that's the best option for getting out of it without lasting trauma, even less than the three hour option.

TIAM IV: Guydiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Cockmongler

Sorry you're going through some shit Paero. Maybe this will cheer you up. I get excited every time this guy posts some new craziness. I don't even like football. -
That now actually sounds worth playing.

So TL;DR they're banking everything on this update and the Reddit community is convincing itself they need to be nice to widdle Valve no matter how shitty the update is or OH NO there will be no more shitty updates. I mean I hope the update is good but that guy screaming "So DON'T COMPLAIN" is obnoxious and everybody on Reddit and SPUD eating it up is cringeworthy.

Hm? That was yesterday. Had a dream I was part of a secret agent group or something. We infiltrated a school, accomplished our mission (no clue what that was), and escaped under the cover of being performers on stage The details are fuzzy but I do remember some recurring dream elements, most prominently the one where the brakes in my car are really far away for some reason and I can never quite push them down all the way so the car won't stop. Keep stretching my legs and sliding down in the seat but the brakes are always only slightly depressed. Seemed to have a happy ending. Got to pick and lead my own team and had a heart to heart with my mom.

To be fair, the parts of Florida close to Georgia are exactly the same. Liking it down here around Fort Lauderdale though. -
Finally caught up on the season. Solid 9/10 season, the best in years IMO. I think I liked all but one episode this season (I thought Smile was super dumb in a bad way). I remain disappointed that Capaldi is leaving after the Christmas special because damn it he's such a great actor and I love him in the role. With the double whammy of Bill seemingly leaving too I hope their replacements can live up to the standards set by this season. I was considering not even watching this season after how much I'd either hated or been exceedingly lukewarm on the last three or four but I'm glad I ended up doing it. It's kinda renewed my enthusiasm for the series.

I'm going to celebrate 4th of July by consuming the media of our former oppressors. look I'm like 5 episodes behind on Doctor Who okay Then I'll blow some shit up when it gets dark. Very small shit since fireworks are expensive and we don't have anywhere to go to fire off the big stuff this year anyway, but still. -
Moderation action was taken a while back; Further dogpiling isn't really necessary.

The Guillotine is Good Even Without the Sandman
Rynjin replied to TheOnlyGuyEver's topic in Team Fortress 2.5
If the Guillotine isn't better than the pistol, by your own admissions, then what good is it? You either use the pistol (better damage), one of the sodas, or pick an inferior weapon that's decent at damaging one target. Of the three, which sounds better? -
What might be an interesting rework is the Ambassador no longer gets headshots but gets reverse falloff, kinda like the crossbow. Gets a damage boost at mid-long range, but gets an even heavier damage penalty in close range. Something like: Short: 35 damage Mid: 55 damage Long: 75 damage You can two-shot light classes at long range (though the drastically increased spread and removal of perfect accuracy makes this unlikely with rapid fire) but get sharply diminishing returns the closer you are to your target, making it a real shitty personal defense weapon. But let's be real, the people that get mad over any class in this game having ANY kind of effective long range capability are going to be mad regardless unless the rework makes it a close range weapon entirely. Valve could change it to have one shot in the chamber and a 5 second reload and people would STILL get butthurt over taking 120 damage from long range. Some people just have an irrational hatred of any engagement that doesn't begin and end at shotgun range.

Most of the nerfs are real weird though. The total reworks are fine but the Vita-Saw nerf is baffling and Amby one was really unnecessary IMO. This is better than the last balance patch as I recall it though.

So apparently Stefan Stefansson's cancer was confirmed terminal yesterday. That's depressing. -
If anyone wants to buy Gremlins, inc. while it's on sale I'd love to play it with them. It's a good board game. Real friendship tester, but fun. Been playing it for a few weeks. Sort of like a weird Mario Party crossed with Nefarious (if anybody's played that) hybrid.

Interesting. Not all the changes seem good, but I DO like that their reasoning was clearly explained in the post, so I can at least see where they're coming from. The Vita Saw seems pointless now, redundant and inferior to the Uber Saw near as I can tell. 100% Uber will almost always be better than 60% Uber retained on death unless the latter is far easier to achieve (which it isn't). Unclear why the Eviction Notice was nerfed. Unless there was another buff previously I'm unaware of, a slightly faster attack speed in exchange for reduced damage doesn't need to drain health while active. Guillotine now seems useless, any pistol will be more reliable damage. Most of the rest seem okay. Sandman nerf seems to kinda miss the point of why people didn't like it, but whatever.

Let's try to tone down the ever-so-primal nerd rage just a bit.

Don't really have the time/inclination to read the rest ATM but this is a pretty well known problem with a lot of old consoles (PS2, original Xbox, Gamecube,.and older). As I understand it, HDTVs' refresh rates are desynced from what the game actually reads with a delay of some few frames (6 frames is the magic number I could find in a short google search, the exact number of frames an L-cancel takes in Melee). In most games or casual play for most games it's not an issue, but given frame perfection is a HUGE deal in fighting games and speedruns, people who competitively play fighting games or are serious about speedruns will naturally want to eliminate the problem.

Worse. The Netherlands. -
Holy shit, it looks like Nintendo decided to release the floodgates on games people have been wanting. I personally don't care about most of those (though a new Kirby sounds great, I love those things for road trips and stuff) but I know a bunch of people who'd individually be excited for either Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Metroid, or some combo of all 3. I'm actually kind of excited for Metroid Re-2, though I've never played any Metroid but the first one (I didn't even beat it). Maybe I'll get it and catch up on the Prime series (they did a re-release a while back didn't they?).

I haven't watched E3 stuff since before G4 disappeared. That Devolver one was fun though.
