Yeah, Nikki and Tennyo are pretty fucking pissed about the whole thing. Despite the fact that Tennyo is a fucking one-girl-multiple-armies and Nikki can mold reality like it's clay. One of the few things that bugged me a smidge in the actual stories. That and ALL of the Merry stories. Fuck Merry.

So with all the talk of gender bending going on in a certain other thread, does anyone else read the Whateley Academy stories? Best way to describe it is if the meta gene from X-Men became widely known around the 1940's and then some dudes founded a school for mutants in the 60's and sometimes the metagene changes your gender. Basic info is that there are a number of different power types that can show up in any combination (though some are rare) in different power levels, and approximately 10% of the population has them. Superheroes and villains are commonplace. YES, normies HAVE figured out ways to combat supers, which is one of the wonderful things about the series I think. But anyway, the ones I can remember go like this: Exemplar: Each Exemplar has a "BIT" (Body Image Template) that determines what their ideal subconscious self looks like. Where 90% of the gender bender comes in, though normally it makes the Exemplar stronger, tougher, smarter, and more beautiful. On other rare occasions the Exemplar becomes stronger, tougher, and smarter, but develops a case of "GSD" (Gross Structural Dystrophy) which results in things like the Thing (made of rock) or turning into a snake person or what have you. By far the most common power in combination with others. Can range from "Very athletic normal human" to "Batman with regenerative abilities". Shifter: Shapeshifter. Can range anywhere from "Can transform between one form and my base form" to "Unlimited control over every aspect of my shape". Empaths and ESPs: Telepathy, clairvoyance, emotion/aura sensing, etc. Mostly classified in level of control, from sporadic to complete control. Telekinetics: Anywhere from "I can levitate things with my mind" to "PK Superman" (Superman-esque super strength, flight, and invulnerability based around a PK force field around your skin). When paired with Empathy/ESP is known as a "Package Deal Psychic". Manifestors: Manifest all sorts of energy. Electricity, Fire, Plasma, Lasers, etc. Ranges from "I can warm your oatmeal" to "Thermonuclear detonations". Avatar: Host of a spirit of some kind that grants special powers from any of the other categories. Can range from a simple animal spirit ("My Spirit of the Fox grants me supernatural cunning and speed!") to actual gods and such ("Feel the power of Zeus, mortal!") Warper: Reality warping. Results in your Teleporters, Time Controllers, Plane Shifters, Probability Manipulators and the like. Gadgeteer: Super-intelligent builders of machines. Instinctively know how a machine works and how to make it better and such. Devisors: Super-intelligent builders of machines that only work because they think it should work that way. The Orks of the Whateley Universe. Mages: Magic and shit. By my understanding the rankings work in a two-fold way, so a Mage I has a hard time getting even simple spells to work and can't even attempt higher levels ones, mid-level (III, IV, V) have an instinctual understanding of some magics and big reserves of energy, and can pull of mid-level spells with ease and difficult ones with efforts/rituals/collaboration (your Coven type thing). VI and VII are the god-like super magical beings who breathe, eat, and sleep magic and can warp reality beyond recognition by farting if they want to. Regeneration and Healing: Regeneration is subconscious and self only, while healing is conscious but can affect both. Can range from "Don't often get sick, recover a bit faster than normal" to "Makes 682 look like a bitch". The stories themselves are fairly well written and very entertaining, though some have grammatical hiccups, which if you can overlook are no real issue. The only consistent offender is Starwolf's misuse of the Your/You're and They're/Their/There. They're a good timewaster and are easy to get invested in once you get past the first batch which pretty much introduce the characters and often go over the same events from multiple perspectives, before the stories come together. I suggest getting past the first story for each character and reading a few more before deciding they aren't good. Most of teh main characters are genderbent or gender confused in some manner. Of the main (Team Kimba) cast, Chaka, Nikki, Tennyo, are male to female genderbent, Hank is a female to male, Ayla's a Futanari, Jade is fully male but lives as a female and has a repressed BIT, blocked shapeshifting or summat. Iunno. He's SUPPOSED to be a girl but isn't, and surgery isn't an option because shit grows back. Sara is male to female, except it's more "Human to non-human who looks female" and Chou is male to female as long as her sword isn't in a special box (which she no longer has in her possession). The majority of the stories follow Chaka, Tennyo, and Jade, followed closely by Chou and Sara (affiliated, but not a part of Team Kimba), while Nikki, Hank, and Ayla have almost no stories to themselves as far as I've read. Possibry. It really is a good series of stories though. Especially from Halloween onward. Stories get a bit more serious from there. Though for all the wangst from the other chars, I think Chaka's got the right idea. "So what I got gender bent? Fucking SUPER POWERS."

I actually liked the Bajo-Kazooie run, I'm sad they stopped it. They weren't really fucking around in that, however much it looks like it. Anyone who's played it knows how easy it is to get lost and/or confused on where you're supposed to go to get some Jiggies.

Yeah. Hopefully the gubment realizes that too and doesn't try to occupy out of stubborn pride. We're just now barely starting to climb out of the hole we dug ourselves into with the middle east.

It's kinda funny-sad that I was really excited about this but it never got completed before I stopped playing TF2. And I don't see myself picking it back up to play regularly in the immediate future either.
