It's not the computer itself, even the RNG in battle is exploitable, especially in Emerald because the RNG is borked. EDIT: What I'm trying to say is that the RNG in Emerald is specifically borked so that if you press A too quickly between moves it will probably end up activating a quick claw/crit/miss for the opponent.

Nothing beats the sheer cold Walrein with impeccable aim.

My team for R/S/E was usually dependent on the starter. Probably the best out of my +15 runthroughs of R/S/E were...... Sceptile/Mightyena/Gardevoir/Tentacruel(Or Gyarados)/Swellow/HM Slave Blaziken/Gardevoir/Gyarados/Salamence/Waillord/HM Slave Swampert/Swellow/Breloom/Flygon/Magneton/HM Slave

According to the new rules, I am now eligible to obtain a title. May I PLEASE have RNGenius as my title now?
-
Really? In that case, can I has RNGenius as my title?
-
Can't say I disagree on the linear(but goddamn beautiful) map. Gym leaders, eh, at least Norman was memorable because it was the only time in the series you actually fought(hell saw) your dad. I disagree with forgettable legends though, Kyorge is probably the most popular uber along with Groudon, and Deoxys is just awesome.

You guys must have said R/S wrong.

Darn, I don't have enough posts. :(

Could I have RNGenius as a title?

Thunderus for special attacker and Blissey for special defense tank.

Random trivia on Pokemon? You have no idea what you have unleashed. Mew was added into the game by a programer literally 2 weeks before R/G was supposed to be released in Japan. Even Satoshi did not know about Mew until after the games release. When Pokemon R/B was supposed to be released for NA, Nintendo of America wanted to change the designs of the Pokemon to make them look more cool and tough. This didn't go work and the designs were kept as they were. (Satoshi stated it would be too confusing if this change went through) Rhyhorn/Rhydon(can't remember which, but it was for sure one of them) was the first Pokemon created. The only Pokemon to have identical cries(many gen 1 pokemon's cries are similar with another pokemon's cry but with a higher or lower pitch, IE Aerodactyl and Vileplume) are Rhyhorn/Charizard and Poliwag/Ditto. There were originally supposed to be 190 Pokemon in R/G, which included Pokemon such as Tyranitar, the Johto starters, Ho-oh(strangely, not Lugia) and many other Johto Pokemon, but were taken out because of the lack of space. Interestingly enough, some of them have data in R/G, but are glitchmons. If you were to trade a certain glitchmon to G/S/C via Time Capsule, it could turn into a Johto Pokemon. Shellos and Gastrodon were actually programmed in R/S/E, with a backsprite and all, but were taken out of the game because they were considered to be too similar to Swampert. The unused sprites from R/S/E are also stored in D/P, but not any of the other Gen 4 games. Nosepass and his evolution family actually got Head Smash programmed as an egg move in HG/SS, but it was unobtainable because no Pokemon in their breeding group actually learned Head Smash! Gamefreak removed this from B/W(any Nosepass or it's evolution with Head Smash is a hack guys) Heatran has the most double resistances of any Pokemon(Ice/Grass/Bug/Steel) Think all the Kanto starters are super tall and enormous like in the anime? Well according to the Pokedex...... Charizard is 5'7 Blastoise is 5'3 Venusaur is 6'7(probably because of the flower) That means that an average 6th grader is taller than a dragon that breathes fire, and Venusaur is taller than most basketball players. Machamp is only 5'3. All pre B/W event legendary Pokemon, excluding Deoxys and Arceus, are still possible to be obtained today. Mew can be obtained via My Pokemon Ranch. Celebi is the hardest ♥♥♥♥er to get, you'll need a JP Gamecube/JP Colosseum/JP Colosseum Bonus Disc/JP R/S/E, a JP memory card for the Gamecube and to fully beat Colosseum. It's still possible though! Jirachi can be obtained through the NA Colosseum Bonus disc(I have one, so if anyone wants a Jirachi, just ask!) Darkrai and Shaymin are possible to obtain via the tweaking glitch in D/P. Buneary learns Frusturation at Level 13, while Lopunny learns Return at that level. Buneary has a base friendship rate of 0(even lower than the legendary pokemon) and Lopunny has 140 base friendship, the highest of all Pokemon. I just learned this one, even though Zubat and it's evolution family are common as ♥♥♥♥, they are the only Poison/Flying Pokemon. In the intro of B/W 1, one of Ghetsis's arms is black and the other arm is white. EDIT:Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this. In R/S/E, every Pokemon's cry is actually 0.9x slower than in the other games. That's enough for today.

This has really been the problem with Johto-based games. The level gap between Johto and Kanto was huge and it didn't help that Kanto felt half-done. HG/SS improved on the issue, but it's still there.

I actually never caught all the legendary Pokemon that could be caught in HG. I should do that soon.

Apologies for the double post, but I just thought of something fun all of us(who own FR/LG) could do. Don't worry, it's not RNG related. So I was in the Battle Palace yesterday(mostly because I was bored and I'm still stuck on the Factory) and an idea had hit my head. Do you guys remember Trainer Tower on Sevii Island 7? For those who don't, or didn't play FR/LG, Trainer Tower was a time attack tower, beat 8 trainers and get to the top as quick as you could. There were 4 different modes, Single/Double/Knockout/Mixed, all consisted of 8 floors, but all had different trainers. Which got me thinking, let's post our records here and see which is the best. Granted, I haven't tried to re-do my record in Double/Knockout/Mixed(haven't played Trainer Tower in about 3 years), but I did re-do my Single Mode run last night. Here are my times(soon to be changed). Don't forget to post the team you used! Single: 10m 17.68 sec(Swampert/Alakazam/Latios/Salamence/Gengar/Lugia) Double: 19m 37.82 sec(Ho-oh/Lugia/Deoxys/Jirachi/Celebi/Charizard) Knockout: 28m 58.72 sec(Same as double) Mixed: 27m 27.97 sec(Same as double and knockout) Good luck!

So I'm trying to fully understand FR/LG RNG, but it's not going too well, as it's near impossible to get a consistent seed.

Yesterday I got killed by some guy with a Vintage Big Kill.

Pardon my rather simple opinion on the subject, but I look at ad-block like going into a movie theater to watch a movie and leaving to buy a drink or go to the washroom when the ads are playing, or something among that. The only reason why I have ad-block on personally is to block those malicious ads with viruses in them, but that's a different reason I guess.

Hurray for living in Canada, even if I don't pirate anything.

So I didn't break you with Pokescience?
-
It's true. Results don't lie. Pretty much yeah. I just thought I'd go more in-depth. EDIT: I forgot to mention, while it is not possible for a computer to have 100% random numbers, there are RNG's that are too difficult/unreliable to crack. Pokemon XD and Colosseum are an example of that. EDIT2: Actually, you CAN RNG on XD and Colosseum, but that requires the use of save states(and thus, a device which I believe I am not allowed to discuss on the forum).

I won't kill you, just educate you, which may kill you through boredom and how much shit you have to go through to do this(well in sapphire anyway). Also this is a long ass post and there will no be TL : DR version. It also just occurred to me that this probably looks like a guide as well, but this what I need to do to RNG in Sapphire and he asked. Let's start off with what RNG is. RNG is the random number generator. The RNG(for pokemon anyway) handles everything from your Trainer ID/SID, events that happen, the Pokemon's nature and stats, it's ability, the damage and critical hits, ect,ect ect. However, because it is a computer, and computers only have set parameters, the RNG cannot be completely random, so it tries to mask it by spewing out seemingly random numbers. Because of the predictability of Pokemon R/S/E's RNG, the RNG can be exploited to achieve the same results or desirable results, which is what RNG abuse is, to exploit it. Pokemon R/S/E run on a frame RNG(not sure what the technical term is but we are going with that), with going at 60 FPS. However, in Emerald's case, the RNG is broken. How is it broken? Well, each time you reset the game via soft reset, the frame resets to 0 and goes up by 60 FPS. So in theory(and practice), if you encountered a Pokemon at frame 5000(which is around 83 seconds) on the first try, soft reset the game, waited 83 seconds and THEN encountered a Pokemon, that Pokemon will have the exact same everything(stats, PID, nature, gender, ability), as the previous Pokemon. Pokemon R/S do it a bit differently, however. R/S also have a seed function inside the game. Seed is tied to time and date. With a dead battery, the seed is stuck at 5A0(which is Jan 1st 2000 at Midnight). However, with an alive battery, the seed changes every minute, and the seed change takes place when you soft reset the game. Because of the seed function, it will obviously have different results from Emerald, but the actual process of RNGing them on R/S/ compared to Emerald, is identical, just different results. So basically, if you want to RNG in R/S(with a dead battery) or Emerald, grab a stopwatch and aim for consistency. Of course, you'll need the RNG Reporter to get spreads. Now you may wonder, "How the ♥♥♥♥ can I reliably RNG on a live battery if the seed changes every minute?" Well, it's more simple then you think, but it involves taking out the battery of the R/S cartridge, so if you don't have the tools(or heart) to take out the battery, you may as well stop right here. I used my Sapphire cart, because I'd never dismantle my Ruby cartridge. BUT FIRST, we need to find a spread. Go to the RNG Reporter and go to Gen 3 Time Finder. Click on the "Capture" tab. Uncheck the dead battery box and set your parameters accordingly. I searched for a Careful 30/30/30/x/30/x spread(x meaning don't care about those IVs). Boom, I already found one, and the seed time is 00: 07. That means we need to wait 7 minutes for our seed to generate. A seed of 7 minutes is 5A7. In the main window of the RNG reporter, put 5A7 in the "Seed(Hex)" and hit generate. This shows all the results that Seed 5A7 can produce. We have our seed and our spread, but we won't be using it until later, keep the RNG reporter open though, you'll need it. Got that? Good, now unscrew the cartridge. When you open it up, you should see a battery connected by two tabs. If your R/S battery is dead, using a small flathead screwdriver, carefully get under the battery tabs and begin separating the battery from the tabs, but be very careful not to break them or scratch any of the game components, because you are pretty much ♥♥♥♥ed if you do. Once the battery is out, take a new CR1616 watch battery(this is the kind of battery you just took out of the R/S cart) and put it between the two tabs. With a small piece of electrical tape, put the tape over the top tab of the battery. Make sure the battery tab is still connecting to the battery! Now, take a small piece of paper, about the size of the bottom tab, and put it on top of the bottom tab. This allows you to disconnect and reconnect the battery from the tab at will. Put your cart back together. Turn on your game. If you did everything right so far, you should see "The Internal Battery has run dry" message. Once you do see that, turn off your game and unscrew the cartridge again. This time, take out that little piece of paper that was covering the bottom tab. Screw the cart back together and wait ONE(1) minute before turning the game on. When you turn the game on, as soon as you get to the black copyright screen at the start, write down the time. For this example, we will be using 4:10 PM. If you did everything right so far, there should be NO internal battery is dry message. You may turn off the game now. Since we need to wait 7 minutes for the seed to generate, do something until 4:16 PM. Why 4:16 PM? This allows us to set up everything when we actually RNG. Skip ahead to 4:16 PM, and turn on the game. Set up your timer to your frame that you need to hit. Oh look, it's 4:17 PM! Soft reset your game and RNG like you normally would. As soon as your timer hits 0, start the battle with the Pokemon or use Sweet Scent. Capture the Pokemon and look at it's IVs using an IV calculator. Look at the RNG Reporter main window and see if your Pokemon's IV's match up with a specific frame. If you hit your frame, congrats, you did one of the hardest things to do in Pokemon RNGing! If not, put the piece of paper back into the bottom tab, turn the game off and on, take the paper out, wait one minute, and try again. Whew, that took like 30 minutes to type.

Yes sir he is. Not to mention only gen 3 registeel can have Seismic Toss.

Woohoo! I did it, I live battery RNG'd a Pokemon in Sapphire! I got... 31/31/31/28/30/12 It took nearly a week to RNG this bastard, but I finally did it! Woohoo!

Gen 3 was the perfect mixture of offense and defense. Only thing that would have made it better in some areas would be the physical/special split. EDIT: Holy shitsicles, I fought a shiny Magmar in the Battle Dome just now. I gotta save this battle video.
