It's actually not that hard to RNG abuse in Emerald or the 5th gen games. I don't know about the 4th gen games though.

No need to cheat when you can RNG abuse them. (I'm aware this may be ironic to some people)

If I remember actually, there was a way to manipulate your crit chance and things like that in emerald and 4th gen so that you could basically stack the odds in your favor. This would work against the AI and probably players too. The problem is that I have no frigging idea how to do it and information about it is not going to be released from Smogon.

Learning about how to get better stats and more about the game? Sure, you could consider that fun. Playing against players that only use the 6 same Pokemon no matter what and take it extremely seriously? Not fun.
