"You have given out too much reputation in the last 24 hours"
Mister Maf replied to 2560x1600@120hz's topic in General Discussion
Avoid rep parties. -
I'm not feeling particularly British. More like a cowboy.
-
You must spread some reputation around before.............
-
Agreed.

I don't keep track. I just give hats to people who need or don't need or want or maybe didn't know that they wanted them. And in the Christmas season a couple games go around. It's not really something to make a deal out of, especially since it costs me little or no money...
-
I did this a long time ago. Now you just give away hats to the needy and occasionally buy a new one for yourself that catches your fancy.
-
So tell one of them to move it.

Do you leave messages when you rep people?

I always leave messages. If I can't think of something to say I at least express my approval. Most people don't know how to check them. -
sounds overpowered

I wrote THIS ages ago. Seemed relevant.

'Sup, science fiction. What I see happening: everyone's favorite creepy four-legged all-terrain dog robot prototype (y'all know the one) is upsized to vehicle chassis proportions as this is downsized to be vehicle-mountable. Propellant-less shells allow for the same deadly explosive package in a lighter and smaller form factor.Tank of the future. You heard it here first.Someone come up with a possible civilian application to this electromagnetic propulsion technology before we all kill ourselves with our dog rail tanks.

You overlooked one critical problem: if everyone knows and frequently uses foreign swear words, someone around will know what they said and the whole situation falls apart. I mean, scheisse, dummkopf. How do you overlook that? -

The How-you-got-your-name Thread
Mister Maf replied to Batty Batterson's topic in General Discussion
My old name, MafiaGuy7, was the product of an uncreative young mind who was very fond of the Russian Mafia faction in the original Mercenaries. The 7 is just an arbitrary number to make it unique. I kept this name for years and years because I hated it when people changed their handles online all the time and I couldn't remember who was who. A lot of my friends called my "Maf" for short, though, so when I (fairly recently) decided it was time to move on to a new name (that didn't have the words "mafia" or "guy" in it - can probably guess why) that still resembled the old name so that people would recognize me, it was a relatively easy decision. -
Tom and Jerry on the original GameBoy.Loved that game. Couldn't get past level 2 until my cousin showed me the offscreen platforms that you had to jump on top of the fountains to get to.

I hope most of you have already seen both of these, though I wonder if you realized they were from the same person. You all remember this gem, yes? -
Windows 8 is on its way. Go ahead and give the article below a read if you haven't, because it's a really big change from a conventional computer OS. What follows in this post assumes you have read. http://news.yahoo.co...--abc-news.html With the Nextbox on its way and the rise of tablet "PC"s, the timing is understandable, though I wish this could be delayed a bit. Vista was around for such a short time for being utter crap before Windows 7 came along to save the day, and I have to say that Win7 is a wonderful piece of software and IMO the best OS really ever made so far. Installing a brand new OS is a really big deal - it's like moving into a new house, and there's always a lot of kinks to work out, so I wish I could see Win7 stick around for longer, like XP did (XP came out in '01 and Vista in '07; we've only had Win7 since '09 and yet the Win8 prerelease is already available to us in early '12), since it's such a solid platform. Now, this whole "designed for both touch screens and mice" business I'm extremely wary of. Believe it or not, I'm a little bit of a luddite on this front. I don't have a smartphone or even texting, I despise tablets as redundant and overpriced devices, and I only started using Facebook last year. I prefer my phones to be phones, my MP3 players to be MP3 players (I still use a first generation iPod Nano, actually - the 2 GB version), and my PC to be a PC. I fear that Windows 8 will suffer from a case of fixing something that isn't broken, or shoving in my face something I don't want. "Metro UI" is an obvious choice for alternate control schemes such as a gamepad or touchscreen, but I don't use gamepads or touchscreens. I'm a hardcore PC gamer with an eight-button mouse and incremented scroll wheel (less fluid/pretty, more precise) and tuned settings to eliminate mouse acceleration. I turn off Aero (my Windows looks like '98 when I'm getting ready to play) and close every nonessential program when I launch a game, even if the computer can perfectly handle running both the game and whatever else. Even in Vista I turned off that sidebar thing they added (you know, the one that everyone compared to Dashboard on Macs, with all the little mini-windows you could add like clocks and calculators). On my Macbook, I've disabled all of the special "strokes" to do different things (zoom, next page, etc. - the stuff they showcase in their commercials) except for the two-finger page scroll because the computer lacks a mousewheel. I don't like frills. If Microsoft doesn't want to alienate users that are like me, they'll create an option to completely disable the Metro start screen - not even have it running in the background - and let us make the traditional desktop the default option. For all my complaints, I don't blame Microsoft for moving in this direction. People have shown with their wallets what they want, and this is it. To be honest, this could be exactly what tablets need to legitimize themselves to the critics - the mobile platform of a tablet without the restrictions of a tablet OS. For the people who like the idea of connecting and unifying their phone and their computer and their tablet and their game console (which I'm sure there are plenty of), this is a probably a really big deal. For traditional users like me, I don't really see any benefits to Windows 8. It's got a really high standard to live up to to beat Windows 7. Maybe I'll download the prerelease and install it on a virtual desktop to formulate a fuller opinion. What do you guys think?

English monarch is a Templar and the Illuminati are actually Assassins. Benjamin Franklin will take over da Vinci's role. Calling it now. The Revolution, not the Civil War. But for your edification, the Confederate States of America, the Southerners, were the "bad guys" of the American Civil War (or the losers, at any rate). They broke off because the federal government was heavily favoring the northern industrial economy and hurting the southern agriculture/international trade economy. The war was an effort to bring them back into the union. You can probably guess that during the war, that industrial economy helped the North loads.I'd be really interested to hear how you were taught about the American Revolution, though (since it kind of involves Britain heavily, I'm assuming they do teach it to you). I have no doubt that it's massively different from the way that it's taught to Americans.Another note, with regards to height of buildings and such, this is that famous Paul Revere propaganda engraving of the Boston Massacre. Ignoring the foreground and just looking at the setting, I'd say that could work very well for our Spiderman-like assassin.

Of everything not dibbed-on yet, the only thing I would be interested in is Paramedic. And Paramedic sucks.
