Man...Kalonian Hydra and Ogre Battledriver are like the 2 cards from M14 that I really want. So of course I will never pull them. But I did get 2 Young Pyromancers yesterday too, so that should be fun. And thanks for the tip on slivers, I'll ask around about their viability. Maybe I'll try out r/Magictcg.
-
Raz, what's your sliver deck list? Is it standard? I pulled a few decent ones yesterday (Manaweft, Galerider) and the archetype DOES seem pretty interesting...and I've seen a few decks that run it with mostly basic lands, which is always a +1 from me. I own exactly 3 shocklands right now (Gruul, Golgari, Rakdos) so it looks like I'll be using basics and guildgates, mostly. I know, eew.

Oh man, that reminds me of a story-I was playing on Slag's SZF server the other day, and I was a zombie, which means I was probably gonna die a lot. Some guy asks to duel me, and when I said no he started cussing me out, because apparently I'm a pussy for not doing it and giving him his 300th win.

Anyone here watch Continue? They just did Pokemon Yellow on their podcast.
-
Also, Capaldi's the only Doctor so far who's won both an Oscar and a BAFTA. I'm feeling quite good about this guy, actually.
-
It's entirely possible that I was actually watching that episode when I was first rolling up Caecilius >_>
-
Ayup, guy named Peter Capaldi. I guess he's a reasonably well-known actor in the UK, and he was in both Doctor Who (Fires of Pompeii) and Torchwood before.

In my quest to use other melee weapons besides the Powerjack and Axtinguisher (because fuck the Axtinguisher) I've found that the Backscratcher is very fun. As opposed to my little brother, who uses nothing but the Sharpened Volcano Fragment because "It lights people on fire AND it's a melee weapon!" Because the flamethrower isn't used at close range to ignite people. And yes-he's that guy with the Machina/Razorback/Bushwacka and the Gibus on Harvest. I've failed as a TF2 player.

Guys. Sunday at 2pm EST on BBC America. Or for the Brits, 7pm GMT on BBC1...the 12th Doctor will be revealed live. Be there.

I'm most likely going to change it around once Theros comes out. Or maybe not, seeing as I'll be in England. Where do you order your cards from? I'm guessing TCGplayer doesn't ship to Europe. But I'd like to have at least something to bring along with me that I can tinker with while I'm away. Oh, and don't forget-tomorrow's International Crack-a-Pack day. I celebrated a bit early and bought 2 each of Return to Ravnica and Dragon's Maze. Pulled 2 shocklands (Gruul and Rakdos) and a Dragonshift. I'm happy with it.

Raz, how viable is U/R control or Grixis in standard right now? Seems like they're one of the more budget-friendly archetypes, and I really want SOMETHING to bring with me that's Standard-legal to England. Jund just isn't going to work, it's far too expensive for me right now.

Ok, first off. Get this game right now. You can build spaceships, jets, helicopters, aircraft carriers...I just got it, and it's pretty hard. But once you get your ship to work...goddamn it's rewarding. Also, you can make your crewmates die in horrifying, funny ways. Such as strapping them to a rocket, launching and then spinning randomly in every direction.

Huff, just wondering-did you find that on Tumblr or from Wadjet's "Best of Tumblr" post from Imgur? Because she posted that yesterday and the first thing I thought of was "Huff's gonna post this later..." Also: -
I know it sounds really weird, but I've talked to several people and they all say this, along with Scott Manley from youtube-don't go to the Mun first, go to Minmus. It's smaller and farther away, but there's much less gravity/craters there, making it incredibly forgiving when you're landing. As in, if you tip over accidentally on Minmus you can just roll back up without using fuel/RCS or anything. Just my two cents.

I honestly don't get why people think South Park's bad. Sure, in the beginning it was less of a social commentary and more of just a fart joke show, but goddamn if the early episodes aren't dark as hell sometimes. Seriously, just watch Scott Tenorman Must Die (or Kenny Dies) and tell me it's a silly, dumb show.

Faith allows you to first get a pantheon-think of it as a mini religion. It doesn't spread, but you get a small bonus that can really come in handy, depending on how you play. Then after you found a pantheon, you start saving up faith to get a Great Prophet. This will allow you to found a religion, as long as there's still space available to have one. In a normal 8 person game, only 5 religions are allowed. So you're going to want to try and get one. These give you great bonuses-for example, Tithes gives you 1 gold for every 4 followers of the religion. Doesn't seem like much, but once you spread it and have a few hundred followers, it gives you a serious advantage. There's also stuff that'll increase your faith output, culture, pretty much everything. Not too much sciencewise though. As Evilbrain said, religion also can increase your population's happiness, and if another civ peacefully adopts your religion (which spreads on its own slowly, or you can bring it to them through missionaries and other Great Prophets) they'll be more likely to be friends with you and help you in whatever you need. Also-by clicking on your religion's name when you're first founding it, you can change the name of it. Now you can have fun spreading AIDS or Atheism around the world!

Toy story 3 is one of the only movies that has ever made me cry. Mostly because the first time I watched it was about a week before I was about to leave for college myself.
-
Basically, in the beginning of the game at least, you want to focus on the top half of the tech tree, going to the bottom once you get done with the top.
-
Protip-the Polynesians on Archipelago maps are literally the most bullshit civ ever. They can embark and go over oceans immediately, so you can just spam settlers and claim every island ever. It's awesome. Also, watch out for Alexander, Bismark, and Catherine. They WILL backstab you at any possible opportunity. Do not let your guard down around them. It's something I wish someone had told me when I started playing.
-
Yes, you need at least one melee unit to take the city in the end. It's quite stupid, and something that they don't actually tell you. It took me quite a while to figure that one out. Just wondering, what DLCs did you get for it? If we somehow end up doing multiplayer games (which are a bitch to set up, btw) we have to kind of go to the lowest common denominator for that stuff. But yeah-glad you got it, welcome to many, MANY sleepless nights while muttering "just one more turn, just one more turn..."

Seriously though-Arin is absolutely a fantastic writer. About a week ago someone posted on there about how he was really depressed and suicidal. Arin wrote back and honestly, my respect for him went through the roof. I'd known he had suffered from depression in the past, but to see him talk about it like that...damn. He just seems like a genuinely good person.
-
Arin just posted this on the Game Grumps subreddit, it also has a post with him talking about why he never brings up Jon anymore. He pretty much quells all of the "bad breakup" rumors. Which is a relief.

Let's see here...out of my 4 other friends who play, there's a W/R Boros, Red burn, W/B Orzhov, U/R Izzet, and R/G Gruul deck that I can remember. The only one of my friends who doesn't use Red or White is my one buddy who just has a U/B mill deck, and the Zombie Apocalypse should take care of him. Think I'm gonna keep at least the Crusader in. I'll probably drop the Alchemist and the Vigors, though. Might just keep one Vigor though, I'm still not completely sold on the idea of keeping it out. Think Cellar Door could work in this deck?
