Oh man, I totally forgot about Halo 4. That was a HUGE surprise, I played the campaign with my friend and I actually LOVED it. Great story, great gameplay, 343 did a fantastic job. Probably one of my runner-ups.

For me, I'd have to say Skyrim. Because I didn't actually get it until February, so it counts as my GOTY for this year. I never thought that it would captivate me like it did, but the 100+ hours I have on it say differently. One of the best games I've ever played, and I don't care what people say about the DLC, I think it keeps the game fresh and cool. So there.

So what I don't understand is why you HAVE to be with other people tonight. Like, I'm just gonna be staying home tonight relaxing, and if you listened to my sister/parents, that's freaking sacrilege. Like, they're legit angry that I'm not going out tonight. But yeah. 2012 sucked, 2013 most likely isn't gonna be much better. Here's hoping it doesn't ESPECIALLY suck for any of you guys.

I really don't make resolutions, cuz I inevitably never keep them. But I do have 3 goals (I usually get those done, for some reason...) -Lose 20 lbs and actually keep it off this time. I did it over the summer, but it was back by like November. -Get into the Study Abroad program in Bath, England (and be able to afford it) -Get a girlfriend? Please? It's been like a year and a half since my last one...

I know I joined February 2nd, and I was like the 23rd member or something. So late January/early February sounds right.

So the Star Wars sale to Disney had one unforseen consequence...
alexgndl posted a topic in Digital Gaming
So I was feeling bored and a bit nostalgic today, and so I decided that I was gonna play one of my favorite games ever-Star Wars Battlefront. But when I tried launching the multiplayer, I found that the servers were down-all of them. So after a quick Google search, I found the horrible truth-after the sale of Star Wars, the servers for Star Wars Battlefront were shut down last month. I know most, if not all of you guys didn't play the online aspect of it, but it's still really sad-this was a dedicated community that's been around for over 8 years now, and it was still relatively large at the time the plug was pulled. Truly a sad day in gaming history. -

Just to clarify, it's just the first game that was shut down. I'm relatively sure that the second one's still up. -
Doom 3 BFG edition's on sale for 15 bucks. Worth it?

The Official Random Image Thread!! SPUF style
alexgndl replied to [TRS]Janobi's topic in General Discussion
You know, a ton of us have Battlefront II on Steam, we should totally have SPUF game nights for it. -
So by using that logic, is it possible to kill everyone in the game?

A rant about how one of Alex's favorite book series fucked up
alexgndl posted a topic in Entertainment Theater
So I just finished reading the final Maximum Ride book...well that was a load of shit. Absolutely horrible. I dunno if anyone here has actually read them, but the first few books (the first 3 or so) were fantastic-some of my favorite books when I was a kid. For those of you who have never heard of the series, it basically follows the story of Max, a 15-year old girl who's been genetically altered to have wings, and can fly. She and her gang of 5 other winged kids are now on their own, fleeing from the people who created them. It was a fantastic story, with real drama and stuff. The characterization was solid, there was some great dialog, and it was a really great trilogy. Then...then James Patterson went all environmentalist on us. Seriously, the fourth book, which followed one of the most intense, exciting books I've ever read, was about saving the penguins in Antarctica. Makes no fucking sense. Honestly, he should've stopped after the third book, but whatever. Even though it was a PERFECT ending there, and a logical point, but again-whatever. Guy's gotta make a living somehow, and the fandom pretty much demanded he make more. But then came the inevitable ship. And this happened just about when Twilight got big, so of course he made it as sappy and unromantic as he possibly could have. It could've worked. It honestly could have. He'd been pointing towards it since the beginning, it was all there, it could've been done masterfully. Patterson's a good author...when he's writing for adults. I honestly don't believe that you can have a serious romance in young adult books though, it's just not possible. So he fucked that up. Then to sell MORE COPIES of his books, he added in another guy that nobody cares about to make it a love triangle. Seriously, this series went from being one of the coolest, most original series I've ever read to being just another Twilight ripoff. I don't even know why I've kept reading this series for as long as I have, but god DAMN, that was painful to read. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Man, I needed to get that off my chest. Has anyone else here even read these books? -

At least it was never mentioned again in the series! Wish I could say the same for "Hey! Spontaneous waterbreathing, because WHY THE HELL NOT?! WHILE WE'RE AT IT, WHY DON'T WE THAT'S ORIGINAL, RIGHT? RIGHT?" -
"Amazing Spider-Man" set to end after Issue 700, stupid plot twist makes new series

So let me get this straight: -In Ultimate Spiderman, Peter Parker's dead and the new Spiderman is black. -In Amazing Spiderman, Peter Parker's dead and Spiderman is Doc Ock. You hear that sound? That's the sound of Marvel raping my childhood. -
Oh my god, it was FANTASTIC. At least in my opinion (and most of the internet's). Amy and Rory aren't mentioned once-while the Doctor being upset about losing them is a key plot point, it's not this huge overarching thing like Rose was. And the ending...oof, that ending. Also, the TARDIS redecoration's great as well. The promotional pics didn't do it much justice, but it really does look absolutely awesome. I've got a great feeling about the rest of this series, and I can't WAIT for it to get back on the air.

So umm, the Christmas special. Yeah. That happened.
-
Got a camera (never had one before) and Stephen Colbert's new book, I'm pretty happy :D

I haven't slept yet...don't think I'm going to. OH MY GOD I'M GOING TO MISS CHRISTMAS.

TOLD YOU GUYS HE WAS AN ABOMINATION. ICO. START THE RITUAL.

ICO, I SUGGEST AN ALLIANCE AGAINST THIS ABOMINATION. ...Seriously? You, of ALL people, calling him an abomination. I just...you know what, never mind.

If we do have a controller (xbox 360, in my case) is it worth the buy? My friends have it, and while they loved it, I'm still on the fence...seems WAY too hard for me.

I honestly have no idea what I'm getting this year, my mom came up to me like 2 days ago and was like "Hey, we need to get you something more so that your little sister doesn't realize that you got less than her (she still believes in Santa)." I couldn't think of a single thing...so yeah. No idea.

Literally nearly started cheering towards the end, when he said that stuff about not getting money from this one video. Posting this on my Facebook for all to see (hopefully my mother will actually watch it)
