    Your web history.

I do believe that the "Stupid Stuff you used to do as a kid" thread has now officially been more derailed than even Jag Whacking...
  3. Oh geez, quite a bit happened here while I was gone...didn't think this would happen. And before I begin, I'd just like to say that I have nothing but respect to Wombat for making his points, it really did take a lot of balls to say that. Cheers, mate I'm actually nominally a Catholic too, and I've asked the question about this to many, MANY people. Most of them said what you said, Wombat-that we commemorate Fridays because Jesus gave up his life on a Friday. Now, we don't actually know that he died then-not only do we not know the exact date of Jesus's crucifixion, the day "Friday" didn't actually exist then. Friday, named after the Norse goddess Frigg, was adopted into the Gregorian calendar in the late 1500s. Also, the Romans at the time used an 8 day calendar, as opposed to our 7 day one. So there's that-we don't actually know when Jesus was crucified, it could've just as easily been on a Wednesday afternoon.Other people, when asked why we aren't supposed to eat meat on Fridays, actually did say because it's "in the Bible". This includes one of my priests. So yes, Catholics (at least some of them) do honestly believe that it's all in the Bible. And if you're saying that it's not in the Bible, then what's the actual point? To me it just seems like a bunch of guys sitting around, arbitrarily making rules on how people should live their lives. My stance on religion is really the same as it is with bronys-I don't care if you're a certain religion or whatever, just keep it in your pants. My main beef is really with people who let religion run their lives, and who expect everyone else to let religion run theirs as well, and then get mad when those people don't. I mean, seriously-let's be real here, if you have to do this much arguing with people about the claim that your religion is the one true religion, don't you think that there may be something up? Wouldn't the "True religion" be pretty much unanimously the best? And here's another thing-people think that people who are in other religions are going to hell. I read an article once, where a guy asked a Catholic priest if Gandhi was in hell. Now, this is Gandhi we're talking about here-possibly one of the greatest men who lived, who advocated nothing but peace. You know what the priest answered? Yes. Gandhi is in hell. It was really then that I realized that I couldn't be a part of a system that would advocate that.Wombat, like I said before-I've got nothing but respect for you. Saying all that stuff, knowing that on a lesser forum you'd get mercilessly flamed...that was really brave. Kudos to you, my friend. And you did make some very nice points, I gotta say.As for the thing about physics and creationism, it's mind-boggling because she's currently in a class on the origins of the universe/solar system. Talk about conflict of interest...EDIT: On the topic of ADHD people being good scouts-I just realized that Rammite's going to be the Unlock scout for Stock V. Unlock. Good lord, I'm screwed... (since I'm stock scout)
  4. This is pretty much exactly what I think! I'm also just fed up with all of the hypocrisy (sp?) of religion. Pretty much every major religion has some form of "Do not kill" in their main tenets. Pretty much every major religion has also fought insanely huge wars, resulting in hundreds of thousands dead. What? I also hate how they try to control every little part of their followers lives. I mean, where in the Bible does it say that you can't eat meat on Fridays during Lent? Hmm? Also, creationists just plain bother me. There's this girl who lives down the hall from me who believes in creationism, who posts religious stuff on her facebook 24/7, and who would probably stab you with a crucifix if you even mentioned the name "Darwin" in her presence. She's a physics major. If your head didn't just explode from the logical fallacy of that statement, there's something wrong with you.

    Pokemon

Let's see here...favorite Pokemon's gotta be Jolteon, I would fuck shit up with that mofo. Favorite trainer? Misty. Because throwing a Jolteon against her Pokemon is pretty much the equivalent of fishing with dynamite. Favorite generation? I'd have to say I or II, those're the ones that I grew up with. Gold is still one of my favorite video games ever, hands down. When I came to college, I bought myself an old GBA SP and Gold, Firered, Leafgreen, Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire (the last 5 were being sold altogether for like 12 bucks, so why not?). It's so good to be able to relive my childhood...

    A perfect game of TF2

I believe the main question here is-how were the pyros? Did they actually airblast shit? And were there packs of heavy/medic pairs roaming the battlefield as well?
  7. Wow, so much athiesm/agnosticism here...I'm not really either, I just have a deep-seated hatred/sense of cynicism towards organized religion. Needless to say, my conservative parents/grandparents aren't thrilled.

Ze Hunger Games movie discussion thread

I literally JUST got back from the movie, I read the books pretty much as they came out, so I'm not a bandwagon fan. And yes, I'm a guy. I just skim through the romance stuff. I thought it was a really well-done movie, they didn't focus TOO too much on the romantic angle, which was good (because in the books it really is quite sappy at times). The camera work was...weird. I mean, I can see where they're coming from, but at times it bordered on too shaky. I thought it stuck rather well to the book, which is always good. Katniss and Peeta were pretty decent (so was Clove too, surprisingly. I could also see her doing well as Katniss) and Woody Harrelson (or however you spell it) was fantastic. I hated Gale from the beginning. Something about him just screamed douchebag. But all in all, I thought it was a pretty solid film.

    strange mantreads

It's not that, it's the fact that if you do get a kill with them (and I've seen it happen) legitimately, it's the most humiliating thing in the world. So it's not so much the fact that you're damaging yourself to do damage/kill, you're doing it to phychologically bitch-slap your enemies.

Yeah, Pew Pew battle was probably one of the funner moments I've had on that server ;)

    strange mantreads

They added a new slot for sapper on the spy, and for the engie's PDA.I haven't seen crate 40 dropped all evening, but I've personally dropped both 41 and 42. I'm beginning to think that the S. Huntsman is gonna be as expensive, if not more, than maybe even the S. Machina D:

    See, now wasn't that fun?

Yeah, it was fun...but the melee fights do lose their charm when that one guy has a rocket launcher. There needs to be a mod that forces people to go melee only...

    Bronies-A Rebuttal

Exactly. And in the time it's taken for your brain cells to rot while you're watching that show, Phineas and Ferb have built an antigravity device that clones tame dinosaurs that poop ice cream, while Perry the Platypus and Dr. Doofenshmirtz have an intense, yet somehow hilarious fight. That's entertainment, my friends.

The SPUF/SPUFPowered 2012 Saxxy Awards Project!

My friend doesn't play anymore, he let me scavenge most of the stuff from his account. That's how I got my Genuine Deus Specs and stuff I've got the gift wrap, I'm sure he'd let me hijack his account again to grab that hat.

    Bronies-A Rebuttal

I completely agree about Regular show, I don't like it too much. Notice that I didn't say that people said that it was the only good kid's show on TV, I said that people said it was the only good cartoon on TV. Big difference.

How did you get into pc gaming?

I prefered Zoo Tycoon, myself...nothing beats dropping 25 guests in an exhibit, blocking the exit with a rock, and then spawning a few tigers/lions/bears/penguins/bigfoots/T-rexes, etc. and watching the carnage.

    Your web history.

Well, the past year I've been really involved with a community called the Star Wars Combine. It's sort of an MMORPG, but not really-a lot of it is text and diagram based, almost like a table RPG (but not exactly). It's set in the Star Wars universe, but it doesn't have any affiliation with LucasArts, which means that we pretty much have free reign to do whatever we want. It's a small community, only about 4000 or so. You basically can become any Star Wars race you want (I'm a Geonosian, those big bug things from Episode II) and do almost anything you want-flying around the galaxy exploring, hunting for creatures and bandits, building ships, mining, being a pirate, anything. The world is your oyster. It's not for everyone, the game's in real time, so if it says that a hyperspace trip's gonna take 3 weeks (which it sometimes does) then you will arrive there in 3 weeks. It's not really so much about the game though as it is about the community-it's VERY forum-based, both in the Combine itself, and on the websites of whichever faction you choose to join (if you join one at all). I really love it, I've made a lot of friends from all over the world there and for the most part they're a really nice group of people, not much whining about anything at all. There's also a large amount of people who go on IRC (Internet Relay Chat) to talk to other people about the game, real life, and pretty much anything else, it can get really immersive, depending on how much you're willing to put into it.If my little ad/speech has interested you, check it out! Just go to swcombine.com and look at what we've got to offer. If you do decide to join, either add me on Steam or send me a message there, my ingame name's Jorus Bjorkstien. Hope to see you around the galaxy!Oh, and I also frequent Cracked.com, SPUF and subSPUF. That's about it.
