You caught up on Twig yet? After that is Worm 2.

I haven't read Twig or Pact yet, actually. I have a huge backlog of stuff to read, and I keep doing dumb things like rereading my favorite stuff over and over. Can't wait for Worm 2 though, really hoping Riley's the main character.  Or Valkyrie, but I highly doubt that.

  2. Funny this should come up now, I just started rereading Worm the other day for the nth time.

Tinker powers are still bullshit.  I'd have to go with

    Spoiler

Contessa's "path to victory" power as best power though.  Her power is literally to win.  That's it.

    ^Worm spoilers,if you haven't read it.

  3. That's the thing, this might be a super high print run, like conspiracy 2 was. Suppliers are saying that instead of saying "you're getting X number of boxes", they're instead being asked "how many do you want?" This could be an absolutely enormous print run, and if it is the prices on pretty much every modern staple is going to crash. Which in my opinion is an awesome thing, I always wanted to get into modern.

  4. Lili of the veil, snapcaster, sphinx rev, abrupt decay...they're literally just reprinting INN-RTR standard in one amazing set and I am so okay with it. This is possibly the greatest set they've ever made, and spoilers are only like half over. I genuinely think I'm buying a box. Wotc knocked this set out of the fucking park.

  5. I'd love to build Yahenni, she sounds so fun.  But I know that if I do end up building her, it's inevitably going to turn into monoblackgoodstuff.dec, AKA a carbon copy of my Erebos deck.  I just have way too many pet cards in mono-black.

  6. Man, rereading this thread is pretty funny.  We were all so hyped for Dragon's Maze.  Raz also thought that M14 slivers were like...the best thing ever.  It's also funny watching us all slowly become EDH players.  I never did make that Brion Stoutarm deck...

EDIT: Raz, you called Dack Fayden absolutely terrible when he was spoiled.  Just thought you should know.

  7. So I've been looking at Gifted Aetherborn, and I've been thinking.  What're some other hyper-efficient black creatures, on the same-ish level as that and Vampire Nighthawk? You could probably make a pretty great mono-black casual deck built around those two guys and creatures like them.

    negatives heavily outweigh the positives

Vader's always been a sarcastic jokester, it fits both his and Anakin's personalities.  Does everyone forget this classic?

  9. My LGS was selling unused prerelease packs, so I bought one.  Opened a promo Paradox Engine, a planar portal, Tezzeret, Oath of Ajani and Fatal Push.  Would've been an amazing pool to play around with, if I had been playing with it yesterday.  Probably could've gone U/B and had no trouble at all.

Also I really think that Kari Zev might be my new favorite card.  She's deceptively good, and again, I gotta say.  Legendary monkey token is just amazing.

  10. God, I love prereleases.  I realized today that I almost always go R/G aggro, even when I open bombs like Torrential Gearhulk.  And it always goes well, too.  Ended up going 3-1.  The legendary pirate who makes a monkey token is so good.

  11. I'm gonna have to go with 2 here.

Hearts of Iron IV:  It's still in the very early stages of its life cycle.  Paradox games, much like Civilization games, just get better with age, and HOI4 only came out in June.  That being said, despite all the bugs and truly horrific AI, it's one of the most fun strategy games I've ever played.  I've got a history degree and I studied a fair amount of World War II, so being able to take control of a country and actually guide it through the war is fantastic.  There's just something about playing as the Soviet Union and completely shitting all over Operation Barbarossa that I can't describe.  Or playing as fascist Cuba and taking over the entire Western Hemisphere.  I can't wait to see what future expansion packs bring to it.

Rocket League: I know it came out last year, but I got it in May, so it counts for this year.  It's such a simple concept-soccer with remote controlled cars-but it's just so addicting.  The controls are incredibly smooth, and the game itself is easy to learn, but the skill ceiling is so huge.  I've got nearly 120 hours in the game and I still absolutely suck at it.  But that doesn't really matter, because the game's so fun as it is.  And a special shout-out has to go out to the devs.  I've NEVER seen a game with devs as involved with the community as Psyonix is.  Seriously-you go to the Rocket League subreddit, and in pretty much any discussion you'll see devs chatting with the players.  I've even seen posts where someone's like "Hey, what if you guys implemented 'X'?" and then a dev will be like "Done.  We just hotfixed that." maybe 15 minutes later.  Do you know any company that will not only take community advice, but implement it within an hour or two? Because I don't.  They're also constantly bringing in new content, both with paid cars (which are purely cosmetic) and in free maps and game modes.  It's just a fantastic game, with a fantastic company behind it.

  12. So I'd heard good things about Araquanid, and I thought that a water spider sounded awesome so I beelined for one.  Holy.  Fucking. Shit.  He's so overpowered.  I slapped Scald on him (which is conveniently found in the same exact location that you can find Dewpiders, almost like they were trying to tell you something) and let me tell you.  Nobody survives a Z-moved Scald unless they have resistance.  And even then, it's not a sure thing.

If you didn't know, Dewpider and Araquanid have the ability Water Bubble.  The game says that it decreases fire-type moves against it and gives immunity to burns.  What the game DOESN'T tell you about the ability is that it also doubles the base power of all water type moves, before adding in STAB bonus.  Which means that your 80 power Scald is now roughly...240.  It's...really good.

  13. So I'm in New York City for the weekend, and I went to this big store today called Forbidden Planet.  Bought 2 packs of Eternal Masters, because it's the first place I had seen them since the set released.  Pulled a Sylvan Library and Mana Crypt.  It was a pretty good day.

  14. Clerics in Pathfinder are generally seen as a half-step behind wizards-AKA, they're the second strongest class in the game.  If you're playing one as a healbot, you're doing it wrong.  They're a 3/4 BAB, full casting, medium armor proficient class.  This makes them very, VERY versatile.  Seriously, you can do pretty much anything with a cleric.  I once had a Strix cleric of Gorum who flew around with a greatsword and just debuffed the shit out of anyone.  Barely did any healing, except in serious "OH SHIT" situations.  I have a really soft spot for most 3/4 BAB, D8 hit dice classes.  Cleric is no exception.  They're seriously fun.

  15. I just ordered the Breya C16 deck, thinking of smushing it together with my current Daretti deck to create a superstorm of 4-color artifact value.  Should be interesting to see how it goes.  Resisting the urge to insert a few infinite combos into it.  She combos off SO FUCKING EASILY though.
