    You're not making any sense here. My point was that Pao was not the one behind the mess with Victoria and the AMAs, as it was the co-founder and executive chairman who was responsible for it. Whether you like it or not, that is the truth. The fact that so many people on Reddit were quick to place the blame on Pao was concerning to me. The level of hatred she received, from racist and sexist comments to death threats, was completely unwarranted, especially because there was no evidence. 

    ​The CEO is the one who guides the company, and the failures of the company falls directly on them. Also, please stop pretending that Victoria is the only reason why people are mad at Pao. Victoria was just the spark the pissed off enough people for the revolt to start.

    Did you want people to make fun of how ashy her skin was? People use appropriate insults when making fun of someone. It doesn't mean they hate asians/women. If she was german and her name was Bitler, you can imagine who she'd get compared to instead of Mao. If she was a gay dude, you can bet there'd be a lot of jokes about her fucking the site in the ass. 

    women being the target of harassment and death threats on the internet isn't exactly uncommon.

    Generally admins don't fire people without the approval and knowledge of the higher ups. He can say it was his decision all he wants, but it's Pao's job as CEO to not allow idiots to fuck up her site.

    Alexis Ohanian, the man who fired Victoria, is the co-founder of reddit and the executive chairman of the company. His position is superior to Pao's. Say what you want, but she was the scapegoat in this whole situation.

Unless it's an obvious joke, things like racism and sexism usually get down voted pretty quickly, especially when there's subreddits based around doing so. You saw the coontown guy get down voted for being the coontown guy.

    That's the risks you take when you allow free speech. Assholes exist, they'll always exist, but you have to have faith that your users won't all be assholes.

    Tell me this: What would Pao have to do to convince you the dislike towards her is warranted, not because of her gender or ethnicity? 

    Proof. From what I've gathered, there's no evidence that she was the one who got rid of all those subs, nor was she the one who banned Victoria. 

     

    It's just my opinion on the whole situation. Reddit has always been known as a place with casual racism and sexism, so it's not surprising to me that there was a lot of hate for Ellen Pao whenever something bad happened on the site. It'll be interesting to see how they react to the new CEO, and whether they'll blame every problem that happens solely on him.

     It does become a problem when their "consumers" are a bunch of entitled man-children who freak out when they don't get their way. 

    Based on your logic, does that mean they should bring back /r/jailbait? 

    Has there been a massive outcry across several of the biggest subreddits to get it unbanned? Nope.

    Even if there was, it was being used to distribute actual CP, so it's very unlikely that it ever could come back.

    They make jokes and act all fun to befriend people and get them on their side to create more support for their racism. I don't care about him getting too many internet points, I just want people to understand that he does this specifically to gain support for his white supremacy

    Eh, my point still stands. I genuinely believe that Ellen Pao resigning is a bad thing for reddit, and not just because of the racism and sexism, but also because it shows that if redditors whine enough, then they can get what they want.
