  1. Last night I had some ridiculous dreams. To start off, I was in my house with my family, and Kanye West and Jay-Z both came round, with groups of people following them around the whole time. I didn't see much of Jay-Z or his posse, but at some point my dog bit one of Kanye's gang, which made Kanye really mad, so he started trying to kill my dog with some kind of weapon, I think it kept changing from a knife to a huge sword. People (who were possibly my family, I don't quite remember) kept trying to stop him, but he would just kill them as well. A few times I tried to stop him as well but every time I would get stabbed, and then jump back in time and be alive again like I was respawning or something. Eventually it ended up that he killed my dog without anyone getting in his way, and then I woke up.

After a little while I fell asleep again, and then in a sort of follow-on dream I was in this museum, where Kanye and his gang were trying to steal some kind of artifact that could revive people, like he was a baddie from Indiana Jones or something. I was following them around for a bit, because so I could get the artifact for myself and revive my dog, and also keep it from Kanye's apparently evil hands. They'd found a secret passage in the museum where this big perspex wall tile slid away, and there was some kind of clue to the artifact's location somewhere in a room along the passage. The artifact wasn't actually in the museum, in true Indiana Jones style it was off in some foreign country. After following them I found this stuff out, then ran away through a bunch of busy gift shops. I saw some of my friends as I was escaping and they said hi, and I told them not to draw any attention to me and they seemed to understand. At some point it transpired that I was now an outlaw, I dunno if Kanye had some police connections or something. As I was escaping the museum Kermit the Frog also was trying to escape, pretty sure he was also an outlaw but I don't know what for.

Eventually I got out of the museum. It was night time and I was looking for somewhere to hide. I ended up going through this big abandoned building, and way up on a stone block Johnny Depp started talking to me, being as quiet as possible. Apparently we were really old friends. There were some other people up there as well, and they joined in the conversation but loudly, and Johnny had to tell them to shut up otherwise "it" would hear. It turned out that "it" was Queen of Pain, except she was also a vampire-kind-of-thing. She did hear and started chasing these people, who jumped off the building and ran away. A lot of them got killed, there was blood everywhere. I started running away again, but I wasn't ever really scared, it was like I was a protagonist in the story so I obviously couldn't die.

I came to this little place on the edge of a forest, and bumped into someone from upper school, who helped me hide in a tree for a bit. We apparently were also really good mates when we were young (in reality I barely know the guy) and had built this little house next to his real house. I asked if it was still there, he said it was, and we went and got some rocks out of the way of the door to the house. When we got in it was just a tiny room with a bunk bed, there were dead leaves scattered about and a homeless-looking guy sleeping in the top bunk. My friend told me they'd let him sleep there because he was in fact homeless. So I went and slept in the bottom bunk, and then woke up.

  2. Not as much a bug as a complaint: I have always really hated how quoting works on this. Trying to cut out a piece of what you are quoting to not flood the page often leaves large useless space or destroys the quote entirely

Isn't there a way to just make it give you

tags whenever you quote something and only show the actual quote bubble in "more reply options" or "preview post"?

I generally find using the delete key on lines above space you want to delete works okay, but it is really damn annoying that backspace fucks everything up.

edit: the quote in this post has a massive space when actually posted and I swear this doesn't normally happen. There is no space in the editor

  3. I'll go with a top 5 all-time, it all gets a bit uncertain after that. Hell, I'm not even sure if 4 and 5 are the right way around.

    1) Biffy Clyro - There's No Such Thing as a Jaggy Snake

Heavy intro really gets it going, then there's a small quiet section to calm it down a bit and then it goes driving in to the main section in 5/4. Gorgeous. I can't help but go mental every time this song comes on. God I fucking love 5/4 time.

    2) Them Crooked Vultures - Elephants

Another brilliant intro. Starts off a bit slow, gets your head nodding, then it's all fast and crazy for a bit and then it settles down to beautifully smooth. Josh Homme's lyrics, and delivery of them, is impeccable.

    3) Cake - Italian Leather Sofa

One from my favourite band. That ridiculously smooth drumming and bass playing, John McCrea's almost random but completely precise offbeat singing, and probably the best trumpet solo I've ever heard. Fantastically upbeat and the light-hearted lyrics are just the icing on the cake (no pun intended).

    4) Arctic Monkeys - Pretty Visitors

THIS SONG IS FUCKING MENTAL AND THERE IS AN ORGAN AS WELL AND I REALLY LIKE ORGANS

    5) Muse - Megalomania

Matt Bellamy really showing off his voice here. Jeeeeeeesus that build-up in the chorus is nothing short of boner-inducing. Plus some really good use of the organ, complements the anti-church lyrics and just generally is beautiful. So many parts of this song are loud but it's such a full kind of sound that it just works amazingly.

  4. From what I understood from the articles, it looked like the donations were done by mail or in person, so the best way would probably to somehow get all the donation money to one person who lives nearby (or at least is in the USA) and get them to deliver it. It wouldn't necessarily have to be through PayPal, that just seems the most obvious way. Could we possibly set up a payment through the forum, like a subscription thing and then redirect the money from there somehow? I know that's pretty much just using PayPal, but it'd be an easy way for people to contribute and I know you can do payments with credit/debit cards that way too.

In terms of the message Binary's idea sounds pretty good. If it's possible to leave messages with the donations go for that, but otherwise if someone could get an e-mail or a Facebook message through to one of his parents just to say there are a bunch of people from around the world who'll miss him, that might be nice for them.

  5. Man, this is terrible. I barely knew him but he was a nice guy. On the other side it's heartwarming to see a lot of people remembering him, with both the kayak forum-goers and everything that's here.

Should we instead donate to this fund? The family doesn't seem to want cards, and I'm not sure if random friends on the internet would mean much to them.

If we could get a big group donation together, maybe via Paypal or something, that might be nice.

  6. Valve new rules for purchasing from the Steam Market and TF2 Store and trading really spiced the prices of the new festives.

The Bonesaw is going for $4 while the normal festive shotgun is $10, the strange festive shotgun is going for $50.

How are people marketing them already? I got a shottie that I'll never use but it's not marketable.
