I followed this on reddit and assuming that is worthy of trust, one of the users replying to the report was in the same university as this guy. This kid lost both his parents last week, and the theory is that the combined trauma knocked him so far out of sanity that he's doing this shit. Before all this, he was just a regular 19 year old that frequently attended fraternity parties.   He leaves behind a younger brother who lost his entire family in one fell swoop.

Clearly your destiny is to change that.

Well first off, we need a lot more than just 6 opinions. Hopefully, XYTWO made an impression on more than just us 6.   Everyone seems to be in favor of the donation, but we need some solutions as to how we'll figure that out logistically. Also, what personal messages should we send the family, if anything? I personally would like to offer the family a short message through facebook, something that shows them how much he meant to us but without being obnoxious. I'd prefer it is this wasn't a video and we referred to ourselves with our real names and maybe our country but that's debatable.   The most important thing is you all can't just watch this thread go by because we need this plan to come from the community. Speak up.

Watched a few episodes of it. The Blacklist is a good show, but for whatever reason I can't find it and my DVR won't record it, and I haven't felt like actually trying to go find it.

I ended up paying for the $1 Bundle and I have to agree, Star Realms is an incredibly fun game. The turn-based deck building is a really neat spin on the average CCG.

I think the only way for them to see us as actual real people would be video messages.   I think this is the big thing here. Text can only do so much, video will be most sincere way of doing this. If anyone really wants to say something but really wants to avoid being seen on camera, I'm sure text will suffice, but I'd really prefer it if people throw away their anonymity for a moment.

I think the facebook thing is more feasible. We can all write a short bit to offer condolences and talk about XY signed with our names?   I'm not sure how exactly we'll deliver it, though.

We should reach out to the family soon, I think. I don't know how, or how we should plan it out, but it just seems like the right thing to do.
