Considering we were born of TF2, I don't think a single one of us will survive the hype.

Oh FUCK. I loved that game and yet 100% forgot about it.
-
I did it for someone who hasn't played a game outside of like Flappy Bird or Candy Crush, but looking to jump into serious gaming.

Guy has infinitely more deaths than Silent, so it only makes sense Silent gets the rapiers and not some feeder.

1. Some action FPS. Team Fortress 2 comes the closest to classic gameplay while also being modern. 2. Some pokemon game. It kinda does have to be said. RPGs are huge, and a new gamer is gonna like Pokemon better than any RPG. My personal favorite is Pokemon Emerald. 3. Some huge RPG. Probably the Mass Effect series The tactical and statistical part of olden RPGS are pretty important, but Pokemon skips it. Dragon Age: Origins comes very close. 4. Some free-world game. Anywhere from GTA 4/5, to Oblivion/Skyrim, to Fallout 3/New Vegas, to Saint's Row. I'd suggest Fallout: New Vegas. 5. Some party game. I'll just slap the Mario Party series here.

AHSGDYAGUAHDUGHAUHHHHH First death: Hound attacks ate my face. Revive due to Touch Stone. Second death: Reviving was a huge loss to sanity. Sanity-monsters eat my face. Revive due to Life Giving Amulet. Third death: Hound attacks chased me around my camp in the middle of winter. Revive due to Life Giving Amulet. Fourth death: Revive in the middle of the hounds. Die immediately, lose savefile. I just wanted to be able to say I made it to day 100 :c

I'm going to delve a tiny bit further into the TF2 crit thing because as far as I know, it's the only thing of its kind that is explained by the devs. In the developer commentaries, Random Crits are explained as a mechanic that empowers bad players - They can get lucky and stomp good players even if their personal skill doesn't allow for it. Let's go ahead and say tripping is based on the same idea - Something that evens the playing field. By putting in a mechanic for success/failure that is independent of skill, low-skill players can have fun and that's great. However: - This punishes high-skill players, and balancing a game around people that don't know how the play the game is a pants-on-head retarded idea. - This doesn't actually make the low-skill players any more skilled, meaning the problem is still there, except they just added a different problem.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. It's a whole fuckton of awesome stuff, but it's going in a very different direction. Maybe the direction that Brawl was heading towards, but people kept expecting it to be another Melee?

I have no doubt that DICE will do a good job, but I'm scared for what EA will enforce.

Steam Forgoes Quality Control Even Further with Early Access
Rammite replied to John Caveson's topic in Current Events, News & Politics
That's probably the best solution I've seen yet. However, it does create the perverse incentive for game devs to slow down development, since they'll wind up getting more money. fucking hell this is hard -

Valve has always been generous towards modders and startup devs, considering they were one, and all their IPs were mods/startups. I think they're trying to aid the developers here because like you say devs don't have to be scared of slapping their shit onto our Steam. However, that royally fucks over the consumers, and I'd like to say Valve/Steam's done a pretty good job at avoid that up until now. I see what they're trying to achieve, but this is probably the worst way to do it. -

now that's just fowl play -
I'm pretty hyped for that Dark Souls 2 one since they patched a few movement glitches. Even before these glitches were found, there was one people liked to exploit - In order to move on to the 'second stage' of the game, you had to pass the Shrine of Winter which only opened after killing the four Lord Bosses, OR just have farmed up a whole ton of souls. There was a glitch where you could just literally walk around the shrine. The invisible walls surrounding the shrine didn't go high enough, and you could jump over them.

I am scared of defrags because they late upwards of 14 hours to complete on my computer.
