Sorry, but from all I learned from story creation and game design, he broke enough rules with the ending to make all my teachers cry. When you are building a climax/last act, you gotta keep it going and make it better than the previous acts, you dont just kill it and say THE END, otherwise the last act will look bad because it couldnt surpass a previous point of the story (Like Cascade). And the epilogue is to tell what happened AFTER the ending, for universe building, not to explain what happened before/during the ending.
