What I know from Monster Hunter is basically grinding for equipment so you can grind bigger monsters to make better equipment.

The event looks really meh. It happens randomly (randomly for Valve lingo is at set hours) over the day, where it is basically a normal All Pick, but each team has a Year Beast that spawns at set times and will attack a lane, you can upgrade it by using ability points, the ones they are selling, which basically makes this kinda pay to win. Win the match and you get an untradable and unmarketable set and a few points. Lose and you get a few points. The Jewel is basically the same as the last event, recycle 10 one cent items, predict victory 3 times and you get a chest that can give you one of a hundred different (untradable) sets and a 0.00001% of getting a random (untradable) arcana. Get 2 predctions wrong and you get junk that can replace a weapon on the next recycling.
