What are your MU's strength and weakness? MU is usually one of your best guys, strange it'd be prone to oneshots. Also you can farm money/xp in normal mode with reeking boxes. In normal mode, the Risen drop bullion worth more than the reeking box, and obv the XP for killing them.

But the NCR is a mismanaged pile of incompetence. In order to get the "best" endings you need to subvert almost every one of their goals. Furthermore, they're overstretched, undermanned, and undersupplied all the damn time. Basically, without a main character solving all their problems across three games, they'd have dissolved a long time ago.

Int isn't that important in NV compared to F3. You get plenty of skillpoints to max the important stuff with even a 4. End is something everyone should have since it lets you use implants, which in turn give you a free special point. (Or DT, or Health regen that only really kicks in when quicktraveling)

I've never had any trouble with MSE. It's free, there's no freemium bulldunk, and it never pops up. Of course if you don't run windows it's probably a bad option.
