    Fallout TV Series?

I see. The only problem is Brotherhood of Steel (Note: not Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel) was a pretty awful spinoff that is hardly considered canon. It's a theory, though. And fine. Agree to disagree on everything, I guess. I'll try and find a new series to enjoy if Fallout 4 turns out to be wackier than ever. Yaaaay, we had another argument! I don't think I insulted you, though. I MUST CORRECT THIS. RYNJIN YOU FUCKING SACK OF SHIT. GO DIE. amidoinitrite? I would give you rep for a decent argument but I need to spread it. Bah.

    Fallout TV Series?

I'm not saying change is bad, I'm saying too much change is bad. Fallout needs to be serious at heart, at least. It needs to be more about morals than shiny guns. Otherwise it just becomes Borderlands. I love Borderlands, I do, but Borderlands is Borderlands. Fallout is Fallout. I'm not in the same group, but I completely understand why the old school fans are so mad at Bethesda. They took their favorite toy and drastically changed it to sell to an entirely new crowd. You can understand that, can't you? Alright, but the Outcast doesn't have anywhere near as much blood on their hands as the original BoS. I'd like sources for this. Not saying I don't believe you, but, please. Not really. The Legion and House, and most other factions were entirely new. Not to mention all of the Mojave. Which is more than what Bethesda did, actually, when it came to story. It's like Bethesda went "See? This is Fallout! Look, these are those factions that you know about, but in a different place!" It was like a way to try and placate the old fans because they had changed so much of the gameplay and theme. In New Vegas, the only three that made an appearance in the previous games were the NCR, Followers, and the Crimson Caravan, and those three are very closely binned together. Marcus was the only other relic I can think of. The rest is just references to places and people that exist, but they don't actually make an appearance. Though I do admit they were purposefully trying to make it as close to Fallout 1/2 as possible without being ridiculous. It was always called "the coming home." They wanted to do something for the old fans that had been trampled on by Bethesda.

    Fallout TV Series?

Yeah, I know, but I don't understand why FEV was even on the east coast. It was supposed to be a secret military project being researched in Mariposa. I can't even find an explanation on the wiki. It only explains that it was forcibly used on the Vault's inhabitants. It doesn't explain how Vault-Tec got their hands on it or why they got their hands on it.

    Fallout TV Series?

Had to be changed? Sure, but they could've at least been more respectful to established lore. It also didn't have to be goofy. They could've kept it mostly semi-serious. It's not hard to write a serious story. And if you want a good representation of Fallout 2 then look at Wild Wasteland. The reason that was a trait is because Chris Avellone, who had worked on 2, remembered the backlash some of the community gave him for being a bit goofy. There was actually some non-serious stuff in New Vegas. Stuff like Dr. Fantastic, some of the speech options, and Raul's Vaquero outfit off the of my head. Fantastic is the only really major one in that list, but there were others, definitely. However the much goofier stuff was hidden behind in Wild Wasteland. And, hey, New Vegas proves you don't have to completely change things. The lead designer, Josh Sawyer, had only worked on the cancelled Fallout 3, Van Buren. Avellone didn't work on Fallout, only Fallout 2. The only people on Obsidian's team that actually worked on Fallout 1 were Brian Menze, and Feargus Urquhart. Realize that Urquhart, though, was in a primarily management position on both, though. I think there was one other but I can't remember his name. All I remember is Avellone telling me he was there when I asked about it before New Vegas' release. They had a "Ask the Devs" session on BGSF. I'm pretty sure that one who stayed by your side was the commanding officer. And I actually distinctly remember more than one.

    Fallout TV Series?

Correction: Some of the members of the BoS were dicks. As a whole they were goody goody flawless white knights. That's the point. Nobody was perfect. If Veronica is not your companion then they slap a slave collar on you and tell you to kill a man escaping the storm in a nearby bunker before they let you off. You can talk him into leaving, but the BoS tell you to kill him. One rogue guy and his buddies compared to the several who fought with you. It was hardly what the Outcasts as a whole were about. Less soul? This argument is only going to be entirely subjective so let's not go there. Right, sorry. No, the originals and NV were still fictional and retro futuristic. The only thing they were more grounded in reality in was basic human morals and desires and the basic needs of a people surviving in a wasteland. Goofy is not bad, but too goofy is for a series that's supposed to have a serious undertone. You really just want Fallout to be something for you, but in doing that you're taking away what it is, what it actually is, for the rest of us. Based on what you've said - we do. Even if Bethesda is involved I highly doubt they'll have final say. Look at TES:O. TES is Bethesda's flagship series and they're only really advisors for the lore department. The loremaster of TES:O is somebody nobody has heard of and they outright refused to accept the help of the ex-dev responsible for most of the series' lore. They have completely contradicted things that have been proven as fact in the universe. And Bethesda is definitely not perfect. They have their formula down, but they have plenty of flaws. Using their published games isn't a good example since Bethesda Softworks is the publisher, not Bethesda Game Studios which are the makers of TES and Fallout 3. If the series is animated that gives me some hope. However, Three Dog making an appearance doesn't unless he's the narrator or has a quick cameo. I'd rather they go somewhere new and untouched rather than stay in DC.

Right, but they became generic white knights who do no harm. That's not really fantastic writing. "Steel be with you." That still makes me cringe, and Lyons' BoS was the first BoS I knew. Did you miss where the BoS went to war with the NCR because they didn't want to share technology? Or how the BoS slapped a freakin' exploding slave collar on you at first. The Outcasts only told you to "go away and leave us alone." There's even logs in the game of the BoS slaughtering random people for their gear. The BoS has always been Technology > Humanity. You want a LESS serious game? This is what I'm saying - Fallout 3 was a detriment in that sense. Why not play Borderlands? It's 100% what you're looking for. Fallout should be different, and it shouldn't change to fit your personal tastes. New Vegas was far more Fallout than Fallout 3 will ever be. Which makes sense since a lot of guys who worked on old Fallout worked on New Vegas. "Rule of cool." Oh, let's give the good guys a giant robot that spits funny lines and have them march through the enemy. That'd be fuckin' awesome. ...not saying it wasn't but it was hands down one of the goofiest things in the game. Which has me worried. If they stick to the semi-serious tone of Fallout 3 I can deal with it. If they go beyond that... I never got a chance to say this: I started with Fallout 3. It was my favorite game for a fair while. During that while I went back and read up on the lore and history, and played the originals. It was damn well obvious how different Fallout 3 was from the others. I'm not saying Fallout 3 is bad. I'm not saying Fallout has to be super serious depression and brooding. I'm just saying I don't trust a TV series to do well for the universe. If you played Fallout 2 you'd see that the main team was even heading in a more goofy direction but they still kept it fairly serious and kept the series focused on morals.

Oh, I'd be fine if we had proof that they were going a good direction but I don't have that much trust in the guys behind a T.V series. We'll see what happens. If Zenimax is planning on a series my little hissy fit isn't going to affect them at all.

    Fallout TV Series?

The Super Mutants and their goals from Fallout 3 was a direct rip of the Master in Fallout 1, except all of the SMs were stupid instead of actual "super" mutants like they were under the Master. There's no reason the FEV should've even been on the East Coast. It was being specifically developed in Mariposa - back on the West Coast. The BoS and the Enclave struggle was ripped right out of Fallout 2 except the BoS is suddenly white knights, and the Enclave is all the evil that has ever existed in the world. Granted, Autumn was a pretty good representation of the Enclave. He objected to the computer's genocidal plan but was still willing to do anything to achieve his goals as long as it didn't go absolutely batshit insane. He wanted a pure, rebuilt America and he saw the mutants as below him, but he wasn't Hitler. And the Outcasts were a pretty decent BoS - light. Those assholes you meet in New Vegas are remnants of the real BoS. I'm not saying "STICK TO THE SOURCE MATERIAL OR DIE!" I'm saying "by all that is holy please don't add more stupid shit. Let Fallout remain semi serious and less 2cool4school." TV series/movies DO NOT have a good history of being valuable, logical extensions of detailed game universes.

Again, my main issue is "lulz let's throw this in because of the rule of cool." I don't want Fallout becoming Borderlands. I like Borderlands, but eh.

Eh, it's unique card is the retro-futurism. It's just I would expect an action series that's nothing but "lul gunz and explosions." Fallout (with the exception of Fallout 3) has pretty much always focused on morals and ethics. Action Explosion Apocalyptic Adventure: The Movie wouldn't really fit. And as I said, it's more adding things that are completely and utterly ridiculous. Like Mothership Zeta. And the rest of the world is a nuclear hellhole too, by the way, but you probably guessed that. I DO however love the idea of a post apocalyptic series. It'd just be best if it wasn't Fallout.

    Fallout TV Series?

With a pretty extensive backstory that would be ripped to shreds in a TV series unless they go somewhere completely new. And even then I don't trust TV execs to have the best interest in heart for one of my favorite game series. I guess they could do it well, but come on. It'd be show/movie based on a video game. I guess it's less of a matter of them ripping apart what's already there, and more of them adding things that have no place in the universe what so ever and completely ruining the main theme and feel. Yes, I'm one of those fans. They might as well just make a post apocalyptic T.V series and stick with it. That'd be fine. If they wanted the show to stick to what Fallout is supposed to be then it'd be: Which would sort of give us something like Breaking Bad. But with a lot of the crowd that Fallout 3 dragged in we'd likely get something more like Book of Eli. Which was a good action movie, but it was an action movie. I'm having the same reservations about TES: O, but they seem to be doing alright so far. Except for outright refusing the involvement of the man who pretty much fathered TES lore as we know it, and that whole "transcription error" business. Feh. /rant

Nononononononono. Bethesda need not ruin Fallout anymore. I say this believing that Fallout 3 is a pretty good game, but a T.V series is just no. NO. NO.

  16. What's even worse is that article's comments are full of truthers claiming the article is just to make them look bad and hide the truth. It's all a conspiracy. Alex Jones deserves a good shwop in the mouth. He may not be behind this particular scenario, but he's propagated people like this for years. I mean uhm errr IT'S ALL A PLOT BY DA GOVMENT TO TAKE MAH GUNZ. I ON TO YOU OBUMMER.
  17. I've found that most "video games cause violence in our youth" arguments can be shot down by simply mentioning the ESRB and what they do. That is, if the person in question even listens to you. Nobody ever wants to accept that it might be their fault their child is accessing adult material.
