Binary replied to Expresate's topic in General Discussion

Not gonna lie, that was my first thought too.

Also just saw the 2nd episode of Rebels. Feeling a lot more confident now, looks like the other stuff was just movie-itis.

Really, he's generally very imposing, but it's more of a "commander of the droid armys, so when he's there, shits about to go down" kinda thing. He's usually flanked by magnadroids, and is bested usually by running away or use of the force. He gets some really cool saber fights when it does happen though. (Even fights ventress once...)

Um, yes. Very yes. In my mind, there's a few episodes that are better than or as great as some of the actual movies. There will be a few story arcs that are slower, the diplomatic ones come to mind, and there are a few arcs with heavy use of Hesa-Who-Shall-Notsa-Be-Namedsa. It really shines in the Jedi and Clone (especially clone) arcs. It's a chore, but the last 2-3 seasons make everything worth it.

Wait, you haven't finished it? It's all on Netflix. Do it now. Right. Now.

So I finally watched the opening to Rebels. I'm optimistic, but not really impressed so far. I think it might have to do with how much I loved the Clone Wars, the show and the era in general. But at the same time, it looks to have started out about the same as TCW- Star Wars Lite. It's got the locations, characters, factions and sounds of a Star Wars movie, but it still feels just a wee bit on the simplified for the audience route. They have to introduce the Empire, and the Force, and there's a few moments where characters ask for exposition they already know. For instance, the kid grabs the old jedi's lightsaber (I'm one episiode in, I cant be expected to know names), he goes "cool" when it turns on, instead of "HOLY SHIT A LAZER SWORD," then knows it belongs to jedi, but doesn't know its called a lightsaber. Same thing with the explanation of the force we get. It sounds right, but the way it's descibed doesn't fit how it's used in the show. I'm really hoping this can just be written off as the exposition episode, a la TCW Movie. The overall story isn't bad, it's actually really good, but they throw these random moments that remind you it's a kids show very abruptly. They are dealing with the Wookie Slavery, but throw in this random Wookie kid that realistically the Empire wouldn't give a hoot about. The designs look the part, you can tell it's star wars, even if it's a bit too stylized for my taste. Also sabine spends way too much time with her helmet off. She just doesn't feel mandilorian with that flimsy armor and giant helmet. These are all fanboy nitpicks to be honest, I did really enjoy it. I give the movie a 6.5/10, and the hope for the series an 8/10. I'm a bit concerned for how serious it'll get based on the fact that TCW was canceled because it was "too dark for Cartoon Network."

I like damage indicators for mele.

Oh yeah and its technically half april fools (6 months to april 1st.) That's why we did it now.

So, just to be clear, we really aren't serious about this. Everyone here got a different version of a test website, between nodedb, discourse, reddit, and a version that redirected back to the main site. None of these platforms are ones that we would seriously consider using without more feedback, and we hoped you would realize that. There will be none of these changes happening any time in the future. Originally, we were just going to use reddit, as we realized we could install it along side our main board, and just run it as a little joke. Gradually it grew to be much more (we reskinned the entire site, set up custom april fools filters, changed wording, ect.), and we felt it needed a good set up. So Next was designed. I will agree it was announced too soon, and there really was no way for us to tell you guys more without giving it away. I appologize that we worried anyone, please know we do change things from time to time, but anything this big we would never do without your feedback and support.

Really? It seems normal to me. Can you take a screenshot? We'll look at it in the morning.

So, I just want to get things straight. These changes will not be happening any time soon, like months away. We still have a lot of work to do, but we want to let you know in advance. Also note that there are a few features that are still being worked on. Now, we know that change is a little daunting, but trust me, once you see what we've been working on, you'll know how serious we are about this. We'll be posting a preview site later today or ealy tomorrow, provided we iron out a few last minute bugs.

I kinda like that color scheme...
-
It's more layered, which makes it easier to respond to specific posts than just a line of quotes. Like our current board is linear, one post after another. This has multiple layers all at different times.

I be down. I may have to alt tab and pretend to do chem work though

You made..... nothing? read closely Seems like it'll be worth it though.

Fine, it's gone. It was supposed to be a deterrent when people were complaining that just about everything was a "shitpost."
