H-uh, I've never really noticed them until now, and now I can't stop noticing them.

Anyone else having this issue when looking at certain forums? The only forums this doesn't happen on are the Drawing Board, News, Entertainment, Digital Gaming, Forum Games, War Room, and Saloon. Also, have those "Share on (Social Media platform)" buttons at the bottom of the page always been there?

Apparently it's gotten hot enough during the day that we no longer get cold water, it's just room temperature.

Welp, I'm having a trial run tomorrow, and apparently the plan has changed. I won't be needed on Sundays, so that does eliminate one of my gripes - that this job would effectively eliminate my family's weekend, we do all of our social gatherings with friends over the weekend - the downside is, of course, I won't be making as much because fewer hours. Still, the wages I can expect is $87 for both days, which comes out to $348/month. It's not amazing, but this will help take some of the economic pressure off of my mother, and give me a little bit of spending money for myself. She says she's not worried about it, but she is. She comes home every day physically and emotionally exhausted because her boss is a micromanaging asshole, and she won't be able to keep this pace up for much longer. It'll be nice to give her a little relief, and not have us living paycheck to paycheck off of her income alone, this extra cash won't get us too far, but it's something.

Oh hey, I was wrong! The federal minimum wage for tipped employees is $2.13. And a "tipped employee" is defined as any worker who engages in an occupation in which they make $30 or more a month in tips. So, I'd be getting paid more than the tipped minimum wage, as Georgia requires that employers pay tipped employees as low as $2.13. Currently, a whopping 7 states and the territory of Guam require that tipped employees be paid at least the full federal minimum wage. So, yeah, fun times for anyone who goes into Babby's First Jerb as a waiter.

Yeah, but that's how it is when the US decides that tipped workers deserve to be paid less on an hourly basis simply because they receive tips. For non-US people, tipped workers - which includes waiters/servers - don't have to be paid the normal minimum wage, instead, they can be paid at a lower rate of $2.50/hour, and their tips are supposed to bring them up to the federal minimum wage. If your tips don't bring you up to minimum wage, your employer is supposed to cover the rest so that when all is said 'n done, you're still making minimum wage, you just have to really work for it. This means, in my situation, 6 hours a day, at $7.25/hour is $43.50 per day, since I'm only getting paid $2.50/hour, my employer is paying me $15 per day for those 6 hours of work, and I have to make up the rest of the $27.50 in tips to have successfully made minimum wage for that day. Multiply that by 3 days, and my total should be $130.50 by the end of that 3-day work weekend, where only $45 of that is what my employer has paid me, the extra $85.50 came from tips in those three days. Depending on the tipping policy (restaurants sometimes force waiters to tip out the hostess and kitchen staff), I may get to keep all of my tips, so if I make more than that, I end up ahead. All in all, it's a pretty fucking stupid situation.

The problem may just be that I'm an out of shape lazy-ass, and that this is a good opportunity to get used to the work, since I'll have a 4-day recovery period between my weekends. I texted my friend to ask the owner if it's alright if I give this a test run for about a week or two, see how my legs do and if I can handle the work. Even with only working 3 days a week, once I get worked up to minimum wage, I'll be making ~$140 a week, which means I can finally start saving up to get myself a new computer and get rid of this old machine.

I'm highly conflicted. This afternoon, I got a call from a friend who runs a bed and breakfast, who's now also going to be cooking dinner at a diner, the diner is expanding their hours to do dinner. She offered me first dibs on a wait-staff position, 3 days a week (those'll be the days she's working), Fri-Sun, 3pm-9pm on Friday and Saturday, and 12pm-6pm on Sunday, the pay is the usual bullshit waiter pay here in the US, $2.50/hour plus any tips I get. That's a meager $45 for 18 hours of work, before adding in tips. The problem is that my knees can barely handle standing for 2 hours, if I'm constantly moving, then bump that up to 3 hours. As an additional gripe, all of my offline social interactions take place during the weekends, with the way I am - sleep at 5am, wake up at 12-2pm - I can make those hours work, but it will literally eat up all the time I could possibly spend going out, without cutting into my friend's other obligations. I honestly wish there was a way I could try it out to see just how strenuous it'll be on my knees, we need the extra money, but I'm just really unsure of if I can handle it.

Finally hatched my 10km egg in Go and got a Hitmonlee, at least it wasn't an Eevee. But there was a Growlithe in Wal-Mart today while I was doing my grocery shopping for the week, and I couldn't fucking find it even with an incense going. I am very saddened, I wants my damned Arcanine already. Orz

Even a TB drive isn't gonna cut it if they keep this crap up, with the massive amounts of DLC that gets put out, you could rather easily eat through half a TB before you realize it. It also sucks for people who have monthly data caps. I saw a game I was interested in on sale and it was like 36 gigs, and I went NOPE, fuck downloading that massive mess.

Blargh.. So, last month my friend Scott's father died, and we (my family) went through providing emotional support where we could, and helped with going through his father's stuff to see what was garbage and what was to be donated. Last weekend, we were cat-sitting for another friend who is out on vacation, they have a pool and said we pretty much had free run of the place, so our two groups (my family and Scott and his wife) took advantage of the pool on a hot weekend. While talking about plans for the next weekend (this weekend), we had made mention of trying to set up another pool day, but he said that this Saturday was the day they were going to scatter his father's ashes, and that they'd really like it if we were there to provide emotional support again, for both him and his wife. Totally reasonable, we happily agreed and told him to just give us a call on what time we need to be over. Cut to Thursday (yesterday), and we get a text from him at around dinner time that his mother (who was present while we were helping sort his father's possessions, and was so happy we were there to help) had told him that she wanted it to be a "family only" event. We have a feeling both Scott and his wife are kinda pissed at his mother, because she just doesn't really understand him. We understand the desire to have only family involved with this, but, at the same time, we've been friends long enough that Scott and his wife think of us as their second family, family-by-blood/family-you-choose 'n whatnot, so we're not exactly happy either. We're still going to head over to their place afterwards to provide relief and distraction, but it'd be better on both of them if we were there as originally intended.

If I had the $15 to drop right now, I'd likely grab this bundle for Battleborn and Borderlands 1.5. Battleborn seems interesting, and I'd heard Borderlands 1.5 is okay, but not $40 okay.

Wow. Here in the US, if it's too hot inside the building we're just told to suck it up, at least, until someone requires medical attention. My mom works with reptiles or something, because they're always complaining it's cold, when they have to work in black scrubs and a lab coat, and the office is at 73 degrees. Mom puts on her gloves to work on a patient and five minutes later the fingertips are full of sweat.

Battleborn's been out for over 2 months now. While that's still not great, it's certainly not "barely one month after release". I think it's really fucking stupid to include the Battleborn skins in with the BTA, when you need to go for the $15 tier just to be able to use them if you don't already own it.
