If the stories are true, Hostess has worked on a shoestring profit margin. About a 1% profit margin, by going on strike, those workers essentially secured their unemployment for themselves and a bunch of people. If Hostess was actually working on a 1% profit margin, what did they expect? The company wouldn't be able to give them those raises they wanted or contribute to their 401Ks, there needed to be a compromise between the two, because the workers weren't going to get everything they wanted from Hostess, and Hostess sure as hell needed people working or else they'd close.
