well I never played Platinum so I personally can't really judge it, but I didn't like DP that much. It had a lot of very tedious parts and felt rather lifeless, imo. Apart from the leader, I didn;t like Team Plasma that much either.

RSE was high on the list (especially Emerald for the single best endgame in any pokemon game by far), but had a very linear map and rather forgettable gyms and legends.

I had a long discussion with a group of friends once and we can to the conclusion that HG/SS were objectively the best pokémon games, even though several of us didn't immediately saw them as their favorite games because of nostalgia (their own words). Smoother controls, pokéhatlon, twice the content, well-designed map, good gym redesigns, large early-game variety in pokes to pick, some freedom in gym order, good music, nice animations, hardly any tedious game parts, good avaliability of the evo-stones, the list goes on. The only real downsides it had were mediocre starters, phone-call spam and the Kanto revisit being a bit messy.

What HG are you playing that is slower than BW? Do you live in Bizarro world?

for that budget you're probably best off buying a prebuilt deck. I've heard the Sorin vs. Tibalt dual deck is pretty cool, and you could fuse them together for a decent 3-color deck

I actually liked Johto's level differences between the gym leaders/E4 and the regular trainers/wilds. Gave the games some bit of challenge, grinding is only needed if you suck too much to defeat them without. I do agree that the Kanto revisit was a bit sloppy though. Oh um yeah I just came back from the Grand prix I played terribly but my drafts were pretty damn good, got a Boros Reckoner, Gideon, and foil Watery Grave. Sold them all to pimp my Merfolk deck and now the blue part is done (yay) Also my friends played Legacy (an Elves combo deck and a Goblin agrro deck) and got some incredibly epic matches. I played Modern myself, and although I only won 2 out of 6 matches I think it went really well for such a low-budget deck, losing 2-1 every loss but one and always going head to head. In total I spend about 120 euros on magic this weekend.
