I'm fucking serious if you make more of those Greed dolls with coins in them I will buy one from you -
Prophet of Kruphix ban makes a lot of sense. I've experienced how ridiculous that card is from both sides Meanwhile Cockatrice is even more chaos than it already was as without twin there are no tiers and everyone is brewing the dumbest shit

That's the magic, it's kind of both; if you go back to a previous area with a new beam you will crush some enemies you used to have trouble with, but you will also still be using the power beam (starting beam) in the very final areas, as some enemies can only be hit with a certain beam type, or a specific beam type is the most efficient at killing a certain enemy since they all have different attributes other than just raw dps, like stun, fire rate, burst damage or even aim assist. Each new beam unlock gives you the feeling of becoming much more powerful but at the same time doesn't make the older beams useless.

For me it's Metroid Prime Once upon a time Retro was given the daunting task to bring the Metroid series into the 3D world. And during the development of this third person shooter, Shigeru Myamoto popped his head around the corner and mumbled through his sandwich; "make it an FPS instead". And so the best game of all time was born. Metroid Prime is the closest I've ever seen to a perfect game. The two tiny nitpicks I have to it is that if you want to get 100% scan data there are a few enemies that no longer spawn in the endgame so if you missed those you're our of luck, and that the final boss is very videogamey and a tad too easy right after Meta Ridley just pushed your shit in eight times. However scan data is entirely inconsequential without any ingame value and I've occasionally heard that final bosses being weaker than the second-to-last bosses is often intentional game design. Apart from those two nitpicks the game just gets everything right. The gameplay and combat are great, with the lock-on system making it more about positioning and planning than just shooting. The beam upgrades you get are really satisfying and feel like upgrades instead of sidegrades without ever making any of your previous beams obsolete, and each beam gets its own missile combo that apart from the power beam's super missile are entirely optional and hidden. It also does the satisfying Castlevania thing where you are frantically jumping around trying to kill two Sheegoths at the same when you first find them, and then later come back fully upgraded to vaporize them with a single plasma beam shot. Story is almost entirely told through scans, and if you don't care you can just go and shoot the things and don't even have to press B to skip any cutscenes. But if you do care about scans there is actually a ton of interesting lore from multiple perspectives. All the enemy scans are written by Samus and SUBTLY (fuck you other M) shine through her personality and give strategic info, you get to read about the Chozo civilisation that abandoned this planet and how they locked up the phazon meteorite, and you get to read the space pirate lore which I always found the most interesting, as they tell a great deal about how their civilisation works. There are even several pirate logbooks talking about Samus and how the space pirates are absolutely terrified about her, calling her "the Hunter" and about how fucking bullshit overpowered her chozo-tech suit is which they constantly try to reverse-engineer. What really carries the game above all is the atmosphere. The planet feels very alive and natural, with many enemies not even taking note of you or only attacking you because you threaten their territory. You travel back and forth from swamp to desert to iceland to lavaland and it all feels natural as you travel with these elevators that make it feel like you just moved a great distance over the planet, and most connections between world go through the underground lavaland. One of my favourite parts atmosphere-wise is the sunken frigate, where the space station Samus originally came to investigate has now crashed into the planet and sunk into the ocean, and the rooms you traveled through at the start of the game that where mostly intact and functional back then are now underwater and diagonal or even upside down, with both dead and surviving space pirates here and there and the planet's flora quickly creeping into the ship under the influence of phazon's increasing growth speed. Atmosphere is also where the first-person part really starts to play a role. If this game had been third person it'd still be great, but actually being inside Samus' suit is just amazing and they went all-out with it; -When you just arrive on Tallon IV and look up, rain drops fall onto your visor -Squash a buglike enemy up close and goo splurts in your face and obstructs your vision for a few seconds -When you're on the planet's polar cap, Samus' breath clouds the bottom of the visor -If you get hit by a strong electrical attack, your HUD glitches out and has to reboot -Charge the ice beam for a long time and your arm begins to freeze -Each beam is shown as some kind of hand motion icon on your HUD, and if you activate your x-ray visor you can see Samus' spooky skeleton hand make those motions to switch to different beams. And there are several more of those small little tidbits that just really flesh out the immersion. If you game over the screen beeps red alerts in your face about your life support system failing (although admittedly Metroid Prime 2 did this even better); It all gives this feeling of actually being inside the suit, and how squishy and fragile you are without it on this alien planet. I am somewhat obsessed with this game. I've beaten it countless of times, and 3 times 100%ed it on the hardest difficulty (twice on gamecube, once on Wii). I am pretty sure I could draw most of the game's map from memory like that one Half Life 1 image. The game's two sequels were also 9.5/10 amazing but both miss that spark that makes Metroid Prime so incredibly immersive (and I actually played Prime 2 first). If you haven't played it yet, really try and get a copy; both the Gamecube and Wii version are great, and I actually prefer the Wii version. If you can find the trilogy (I've heard it's rare in America?) it's probably the best money you've ever spent. And if you're poor or have no nintendo console, Dolphin exists. Oh and of course no game can claim amazing immersion without some 12/10 music tracks

Three things that cause nightmares are stress, light sleep and medication. "Try to be less stressed" is shit advice but if you're a light sleeper you should refrain from eating right before going to bed, excercise more and maybe take melatonin supplements. If you're on meds ask your doctor about it. -

You shouldn't have to care you also shouldn't have to edgelord up the thread where people who do care want to show a little respect

adaptive damage reduction is still fucking terrible yeah, a complete failure of game design. There appears to be a trick that makes it a bit easier though; Hush and Greed check your dps every 3 seconds and adapt to that, so you can cheat it by blasting them with all you got for 3 seconds, wait another 3, then blast them again.
