I lost my chromebook at the airport (left it in a bin at TSA like a dumbass, though there are far worse places to leave something) and couldn't get any word on it from the online site/phone calls. So I started looking at replacement devices like used thinkpads over the trip and I actually kinda ended up getting a little hyped about finding a replacement, since the chromebook was a gift and wouldn't have been my first choice anyway. But then upon return they had it in the lost and found and I was just like "b-but I was going to do so much awesome stuff with a new laptop..." I might buy myself one anyway for my birthday or something.

Also don't get sick, especially on a vacation that you already didn't wanna go on. Bad time all around

thinkpads are great, I got myself one this year and I'm enjoying it

  2. Hmm, let's see. New (for me) games I played this year were Mechwarrior 5, Division 2, Pikuniku, Battletech, it's mod Rougetech, Insurgency Sandstorm and Cyberpunk I think. I'm never a big buyer and I rarely even try out the free games all the stores are handing out once in a while.

Mechwarrior 5 was just as dissapointing as everyone said it would be. And it ate my gpu oc profile that keeps my system stable.

Division 2 was really meh, it's really wierd when the game tries to be realistic on the outside and then has the mob take multiple .308 shots to the dome to take it down.

Pikuniku is a breath of fresh air, an absolute GOTY material. Don't know why noone else was that excited for gondola simulator.

Battletech does many things right, but at least for me, falls flat on it's face just inches in front of a finish line. And this is why it's great that Rougetech exists, because it takes the mechanics of the base game and overhauls them giving it more depth (and many bugs, and makes it less stable)

Insurgency Sandstorm was a great sequel to the first game, I feel it's much improved and very enjoyable. Good replacement for airshit for corona times.

And as for Cyberpunk it feels like Witcher 3, but bigger, in a different world and with different perspective. And I enjoyed W3, so it's right up my alley. Looks great, I have fun playing it, but I have no idea how did it come out so unpolished. Cars are fairly darty, some mechanics are not completely explored and of course there is a mountain of bugs. None of those things is going to stop me from finishing the game, but it surely will not be a best game this year.

So if Pikuniku was the best game of the year, second best would definitely be Rougetech. Yes - it's buggy, yes - it crashes regularly but there simply is no other game like it if you don't count Battletech which is flawed and too simplified for me.
