Eh. Guns and explosives are way more satisfying IMO. And nothing beats sniping dudes with exploding .50 cal rounds. I've always liked the Gauss Rifle because it seems to have the coolest features of both.

I think my next New Vegas RP run is going to be hardcore mode, as a hypochondriac scientist who absolutely refuses to eat or drink anything with the slightest amount of radiation or negative SPECIAL effects. I want to see how long I can last.

Good Karma Independent New Vegas seems like one of the better options, honestly. Kill off the Legion, Peacefully get the NCR to stand down. It sucks you have to basically ruin House no matter if you kill him or not, but it's his fault for wanting to rule New Vegas without actually giving a fuck about any of the people in it.

Not really, no. Apologies, that does sound a little bit elitist. But honestly, Fallout is more than just the lore, so I think most people are willing to forgive that slight loophole. Bethesda was trying to fit their game in the lore somewhere, so I guess i can't really fault them too much. That's alright. I would say I'm more of a casual fan, at least when it comes to the first two games. I can totally understand how it's annoying when new people take over and don't get the lore right or what have you. It just bothers me when people say that Fallout 3 was a bad game because of lore issues - I don't think anyone in this discussion called it "bad" mind you, but I've heard this said in other discussions. Fallout 3 wasn't perfect but it was a pretty damn good game, and letting what seem to be somewhat minor inconsistencies ruin it seems silly (especially considering that Bethesda seems to have tried to explain some of the differences in the east coast iteration of the game and make it fit).

I believe in Fallout 1, there is a note somewhere that says all FEV research was moved to the Mariposa Military Base. Unless Fallout 3 addresses this issue, the mutants even existing in Capital Wasteland is a break from lore as is. The only reason Bethesda included mutants, heck, even the Enclave and the Brotherhood of Steel, were all just for brand purposes. The mutants in FO3 came from a vault. I think the FEV virus was acquired by Vault-Tec on the east coast, modified and installed in one of the vaults for their own experiments. The government may have been involved in the trials run by Vault-Tec but if they were, it was all off the books. My memory of it is a bit hazy, though.

IIRC the Super Mutants in Fallout 3 were created with a different strain of FEV and are almost totally unrelated to the mutants on the west coast that were seen in the first two games. Making them halfwitted barbarians with no real objectives, unity, or decent weapons makes them more than lackluster compared to the Core Region Mutties. That may be a valid complaint, but Bethesda's choice to have a different group of mutants doesn't contradict the plot of the previous two games.

This is what I often do. I put 8 in Endurance to start and then get my other skills where I want them. Then I use both Intense Training perks to buff my Endurance up to 10, so I can get DT, Regen and eight skill points to put in other trees. Also, as far an New Vegas is concerned, getting the gold bars out of the Sierra Madre is one of the best things you can do IMO. There's a legitimate way to do it and it supplies you with something like 200,000 caps, probably more than you'll ever use in a single run. It makes buying all the implants and GRA weapons a whole lot simpler.

It's usually a good idea to take either Lockpick or Science, although I think Lockpick is generally better.

Explosives is just a character trait that I'm pretty sure Mr. White should have if I'm going by the show. I was talking about in reference to the game, but ok I know. I'm saying that I wouldn't usually use Explosives either (unless I was working to max it out) but since I was doing a playthrough for a particular character from a show, I thought it would be fitting since he cooks up explosives on a few occasions. Same with Science.

Weird characters are fun. I remember one playthrough I did as Walter White. I had high Science, Speech, Explosives and Guns, although I had very low strength so I could really only use handguns. I spent the entire game lying, manipulating and making most of my caps from producing chems. Doctor Who

Probably one of the best ever, actually. At least of the revived series.

The riot shotgun in New Vegas is an absolute beast with the Stay Back perk. Yesterday I used VATS on a Cazador and all three shots were knockback shots. The Cazador was swooping down during the first one, and I guess the combination of it flying towards me and getting met with an opposite force on the right spot on its body sent it flipping off over my character's head. He did a 180 degree turn and nailed it again before it landed which immediately launched it into the air before the killing blow, which sent its corpse even further before it landed nearby with a satisfying thump. Watching my Fallout character shotgun juggle that thing in slow motion was probably the tightest shit I've ever seen in that game.

50% off Hotline Miami coupon get. Hit me up if you want it. Is it even relevant now? I got tired of it and the weak ass online one month after release. Were you in an active crew, if any? I've gotta say I was getting sick of GTA V until I found a good crew. Enhances the experience by about 200%.

My thoughts exactly. The game looks pretty neat but not I'm not sure "pretty neat" is worth seven bucks.
  21. I wouldn't buy one. If I magically won one or got it for free, I'd probably use it every day though.

I want to buy this but I'm so fucking bad at BoI. I'm not sure why I think I might fare any better with this version.
