    TIAM: General Gaming edition

I'd say beat the main game and major side quests without it so you don't spoil the plot for yourself, then use the wiki to find secrets.

    Robin Williams found dead

This might sound shitty, but I had a much harder time believing he died than believing he killed himself when I first heard about it. When it was announced I assumed his death was a hoax, but then someone mentioned that Williams had been battling depression and it was probably a suicide. At the moment I decided it was probably true. He always struck me as the kind of guy who's really exuberant on the outside yet very troubled on the inside. It's really saddening to know he couldn't find enough peace in life to feel like his life was worth living. At the very least, I guess it's good that his death has brought a discussion of mental health issues into the public spotlight.

Thank you for not being part of the circlejerk over the plot of Bioshock Infinite. I thought it was a good game that had a really interesting concept, but the plot kind of weirdly fell apart at the end and no one seems to care.

    Unturned

Has anyone here checked out the Unturned Beta yet? EvilBrain and I were discussing it today so I figured other subSPUFers might be interested. It's essentially an open world hybrid of DayZ and Minecraft. From DayZ you have open world zombie survival. You're managing food, water, ammunition and finding new weapons. Dying means losing your items. There's also a crafting system that allows you mine resources to make items like campfires and bandages or structures that can be put together into bases, as well as simple skill and weapon mod systems. I've been playing it for a bit and there could be a good game here, but the fact that it's in beta is definitely apparent. The zombie AI is as basic as it gets and the multiplayer is pretty bare bones. There are certain options like switching between PVP and PVE which is a nice touch but for the time being you need a friend to host a game and manually connect. There's a "sync" feature where items and stats from your single player character are carried over the multiplayer, but I'm not clear if structures are persistent between games or not. It seems like if you host a game and then disconnect everything gets wiped at this point. That being said, the game is in Early Access so these are features that will be improved and more fleshed out as the game approaches launch. Until then it's free so I definitely think it's worth checking out at least.

    How we hold our mice

that's probably true because you've been using your middle finger for the right mouse button your entire life once you do it a bit you realize that your ring finger isn't actually any less articulate or less capable of clicking than your middle finger regarding the space issue maybe your mouse is really tiny or s/t but it works fine for me I'll have to try it.
  7. I wish Steam had some kind of "show friendship" button that would tell you what the last game you played with someone on your friends list was, and when you played. I just realized I have no fucking clue who half of the people on my FL are or where I know them from.

Thats why I tag people with their SPUF names after I friend them so I can keep track.

    How we hold our mice

I'm a shitter then I guess. I usually move my middle finger to the scroll wheel only when I have to scroll.

    How we hold our mice

More or less the same. I counted that as a "fingertip" grip in my vote, though, since the distance between my palm and the mouse seems variable depending on what I'm doing.

    Looking for a new mouse

Huh, I've never really thought about what "grip" I have before. I guess I'm a loose palm/fingertip guy. Someone should make a poll. I'd be really interested to see how other people hold their mouse.

Yup, that's usually the way I do it. Watching the entire population suddenly drop off is pretty awesome.

    Modern Classics in Music

I don't think I would describe Coldplay as "avant garde" (then again I'm into some pretty weird shit) but I otherwise agree. I often wonder the same thing about Radiohead. I'm sure they'll be remembered on an academic level as being important, but I'm not sure they're going to be on "oldies" stations of the future or anything.

    Modern Classics in Music

Kanye West. Hate on him all you want, but every solo album he's released has been critically acclaimed and commercially successful, in addition to being hugely influential. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy especially stands out as perhaps one of the greatest mainstream albums of the 2010's (so far). Between the quality of his music and his usually bizarre public persona, Kanye's definitely going to be remembered as a classic for a long time. Also, Beyonce. But that hardly needs explaining.

Sorry to show off this again because it's been like half a day so it's totally out of date and not cool anymore... Dude, it's cool. I'm still flipping out over it a little bit.
