This was what I was going with. I've been using 8 GB for years, and never really needed more than that.

IMHO get more ram Is 8 GB seriously not enough now? Anyway, bumped it up to 16.

Decided to turn to the darkside and build a PC. This build any good? Want to make it fairly future proof, without really going over 1000ish.

I really hope that the Source 2 engine isn't built off the Source engine. Source is barely held on by duct tape, with Gold Source as a base. But issue is that Gold Source is built off the Quake 1 engine, making Gold Source, and thus Source a tower of dated material. Pls volvo. Make Source 2 completely original.
