  1. Phew!

It's been a rather eventful few weeks, and quite a while since I last posted.

Region Drama was a blast. Our one act, Fully Committed, took first by a LANDSLIDE, let me tell ya. Several of our actors (and our foley artist) got special awards for it. In the way of Individual events (Comedic/Dramatic monologues, Classical/Contemporary scenes, musical theatre, and pantomime), only 2 of our 24 groups didn't qualify for state. Me and my partner doing a contemp scene, from Controlling Interest, qualified, and we are all well-pleased. Our scene was even selected to be the one presented in the school's art assembly. State Drama starts Thursday!

Prom is at the end of this month, and I asked a girl out on her birthday a few days ago. She said yes, and we're happily planning.

A day later, I got my learner's permit. I still have yet to start driving, though. Insurance, learning the basics of actual driving, and all that.

I also put in a job application for Weed Man, a lawn care and fertilization company. I hope to be part of their customer outreach team that goes to potential customers' houses to explain our services and provide estimates. I'm hoping that it will provide me with a decent base for other careers, as well as give me some good communication skills. I'll need this to pay for Prom, if I can start working soon and if I can't get enough paid-in-full referrals to get a free tux or suit rental at Men's Warehouse.

  2. I recently realized that I will be just old enough to vote in this presidential election.

However, I don't know who I ought to vote for.

Trump is a stupid jerk. I expect him to cause nothing (which is bad) or nothing good to happen in congress during his term.

Hilary seems to be part of an evil agenda. Lobbyists already have too much power.

Bernie seems crazy. I don't trust him to make good decisions.

I've heard that Cruz is like Trump, but smarter and, therefore, worse.

I don't know a thing about any other candidates.

  3. This subject is part of my English class, currently.

We've been reading 1984, paying attention to the lack of privacy that people have.

We've been discussing potential outcomes of either side getting their way.

If the government gets its way, then this and other potential terrorist threats are lessened or eliminated, but it sets a dangerous precedent that has potential (of debatable probability) to start turning the US into Oceania, with a Big Brother government. A potentially exploitable back door would exist, which could introduce hacker problems.

If Apple gets its way, then that's avoided, but terrorists will have a sanctuary with Apple devices, and with the attention this subject has been getting, and knowing how terrorists generally work, they are almost certain to take advantage of it.

We've been looking at this article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/us-wants-apple-to-help-unlock-iphone-used-by-san-bernardino-shooter/2016/02/16/69b903ee-d4d9-11e5-9823-02b905009f99_story.html

As well as this letter from Apple to its customers (making sure to pay attention to the use of rhetorical devices: The diction, the tone, the appeal to emotion, the appeal to logic, etc. because this is AP Language): http://www.apple.com/customer-letter/

We've been assigned to write a 2 paragraph response where we pick a side, and I'm still unsure. However, I think I'm leaning more towards the government's side.

  4. For the first time, I have experienced having a foot fall asleep. I was internally freaking out for a moment, with things going through my head that translate to, "WHERE IS MY FOOT? I DON'T FEEL IT! THE LOWEST PART OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BODY THAT I FEEL IS NOT ON THE FLOOR! I NEED TO LEAN FORWARD TO MAKE IT REACH THE GROUND, BUT IT WON'T GO ANY FURTHER! NOW I'M ABOUT TO FALL! QUICK, LEFT LEG, SAVE ME! (Repeat)"
